Postage Meter

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
• Use a wall outlet located near the equipment. Do not route the power cord between pieces of furniture or over sharp edges.
• Make sure there is no strain on the power supply cord.
• Avoid using outlets controlled by wall switches or share by other equipment.
• To reduce the risk of fire, use only the power cord supplied with the IM280 iMeter™.
• Do not use this product on a wet floor or near water.
• In the case of liquid spillage, disconnect the external power supply from the wall outlet prior to cleaning.
GENERAL SAFETY
• Before using your IM280 iMeter™, thoroughly read the operating instructions.
• To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury to persons, follow normal and basic safety precautions for office equipment when using your IM280 iMeter™.
• To avoid equipment damage, only use approved supplies (ink, tapes, cleaners...).
FOLLOW THE ADDITIONAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS BELOW:
• Do not place lighted candles, cigarettes, cigars, etc. on the IM280 iMeter™.
• When lifting covers, wait for all parts to stop moving before placing hands near the ink cartridge assembly.
• When changing internal (ink, postage meter...), avoid using too much force to prevent personal injury or damaging equipment.
• To prevent overheating, do not block the equipment ventilation openings.
• Do not remove bolted covers as they enclose potentially hazardous parts that should only be accessed by a Service Representative.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
• Power is supplied to the unit when it is connected to an electrical outlet, even if the unit is turned off or in sleep mode.
• Disconnect the wall plug to remove power from the unit.
• DO NOT make any changes or modifications to this equipment.
• Use only the Neopost/Hasler supplied USB, Internet/LAN, or modem cables.
• This equipment is NOT user-serviceable. If you have any problems with the equipment contact customer service.
• If you have alarm equipment connected to the telephone line, check first with the telephone company or a qualified installer to confirm that connection of this
equipment to your telephone line does not disable the alarm equipment.
YOUR IM280 IMETER™ SHOULD ONLY BE OPERATED IN THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:
• Temperature range: 50°F - 104°F (10°C - 40°C).
• Relative humidity: 80% maximum without condensation.
The IM280 iMeter™ contains moving parts. Keep fingers, long hair, neck ties, and loose clothing away from the mail path at all times.

STEP 1 INSTALL POSTAGE METER
Place the IM280 on its back
and open the bottom postage
meter cover.

Remove the postage meter
from the packaging.
Write down the serial number
and store it in a safe place. You
will need to reference the serial
number if support is needed.

Insert the postage meter into
the IM280.
1. Insert with the labels facing
outward and with the
connection on the bottom.
2. Make sure that the postage
meter clicks/locks into place.
3. Close the postage
meter cover.

STEP 2 INSTALL INK CARTRIDGE
Open the front panel.
Remove the tape or foam and
then remove the cardboard.
Remove the ink cartridge from
the packaging.
Remove the tape from the ink
cartridge.
Open the blue ink cartridge lever.
1. Insert the ink cartridge with the
tab to the right.
2. Close the blue ink
cartridge lever.
3. Close the front panel.

STEP 3 INSTALL THE SCALE
Place the scale on top of the
IM280 iMETER™.
Connect the scale connector to
the scale jack.

STEP 4 CONNECT THE INTERNET CABLE
Connect to internet.
1. Plug one end of the internet cable into the internet cable port on the
mailing system and the other end into the wall jack or router.
2. If you do not know where your internet connection is located,
contact your network administrator or internet person.

STEP 5 CONNECT THE POWER
Plug the power supply into
the machine.
Plug the AC power cord into
the power supply.
Plug the AC power cord into
the wall outlet.

For the next series of steps you
will be performing functions
directly on the control panel
of the IM280.
Power-up
The IM280 will display a progress
screen. It may take up to a minute
to initialize.

Select “Next” by pressing the
“OK” button.
Select “OK” by pressing the
“OK” button.
Select “Next” by pressing the
“OK” button.
This action was previously
completed in STEP 4.

“OK” button.
NOTE: You have already
connected the internet cable.
Press the “OK” button.
Internet (LAN) should be
highlighted indicating selection.

Select “Next” by pressing the
“OK” button.
Several screens will display as the
machine connects to the server.
Select “No” by pressing the
“BACK” button.
Postage will be added in a
later step.
Press the “OK” button.

STEP 8 PRINT ALIGNMENT

Place an envelope into
mail path.
A test imprint will print on
the envelope.
Choose which line on the
imprint is the straightest.
Look at the test imprint and
find the letter where the top
and bottom lines are most
closely aligned.
In this example line “C” would
be the correct choice.

Select “Exit” by pressing the
“BACK” button.
Select “Ok” by pressing the
“OK” button.
Use the up or down
arrow buttons on the
IM280 iMeter™ to select
the letter “C” (or whatever
letter was represented as
the straightest line from
your test imprint).
Press the “OK” button.

LOADING FUNDS INTO THE POSTAGE METER
Use the down arrow button to
select “Add Funds”.
Press the “OK” button.
Press the “FUNDS” button. Use the numeric keypad to
enter the amount of postage
you want to add.
1. Postage value must be
whole numbers.
2. Press the “C” button twice
to clear entries.
3. Press the “OK” button.

The “Account balance”
displays the amount entered
in the prior step.
Select “Ok” by pressing the
“OK” button.
Several screens will appear as the
machine contacts the server.

STEP 10 VERIFY OPERATION
Place an envelope on the scale. Place the envelope into the
mail path to print the postage.

WEB REGISTRATION
STEP 11
Enter the requested information
and then click “Register”.
The meter serial number and the
TMS number can be found on
your invoice.
Note: Meter serial number begins
with 128

The TMS number is the
Funding Account Number.
When entering this number
do not enter the leading zeros.
From the internet explorer
of your computer, go to
www.haslerinc.com
On the bottom left side of the
Hasler web site, you’ll find
“myAccount”. Click the
“Login” button.
