Features:
This color monitor is an industrialized version of a high quality Hitachi based
monitor. The monitor allows you to display professional applications with clarity
and enhanced color and image quality. The monitor provides you with automatic
compatibility with multiple upgrading platforms and a vast array of graphics
standards allowing resolution upgrades without upgrading the monitor. The monitor
is tested according to the maritime standard EN60945 (IEC945).

OPERATION Product: JH 21C06
POWER SWITCH:
Power ON: To turn the monitor on, press the power switch in the upper area marked “1”
The power light indicator (Power LED)will turn green.
Note: If no VGA signal sync is present, it will turn orange after 10 seconds and the
message “NO SYNC. SIGNAL” will be shown in the display.
Power OFF: To turn the monitor off, press the power switch in the lower area marked “0”.
MONITOR ADJUSTMENT CONTROLS:
This CRT monitor has a 100% dimmable image, which means it is capable of displaying a
completely black image when the brightness knob is turned fully to the left.
Note: For navigational use, a external dimmable illumination is required (IEC 60945, 6.5.c,
e.g. Goose neck light). This is because the brightness and contrast knobs are not self
lightning (dimmable)
WARNING: Use of brightness and contrast knobs may inhibit visibility of information at night.
CONTRAST - Adjust the image brightness in relation to the background using the knob
marked “CONT”.
BRIGHTNESS - Adjust the overall image and background screen brightness using the knob
marked “BRIGHT”
DEGAUSS - To manually degauss the picture press this button. This function will remove any
color impuritites that may be visible in the picture. This function is also available
under the “user controls panel” on the left front side of the monitor.
Note: - The monitor degausses itself during intital power up. Wait at least 10 minutes
before repeating this function.

USER CONTROLS PANEL Product: JH 21C06
USER CONTROLS:
The On Screen Manager (OSD EasyMenu) controls are located under the metal hatch on the left front
side of the monitor. To begin adjusting any of the monitor’s functions, press then desired function item, and
then refer to the table below to make any changes to the picture. Below follows a rough guide to what
these user controls buttons stand for.
INPUT SELECT:
This CRT monitor have two input terminals in the back. This will let the user to connect two computers
simultaneously. The user may select any of the inputs to display by pressing the “Input Select” button.
POWER LED ADJUST / INDICATOR:
The user can adjust the intensity of the “Power Light Indicator” by using a screwdriver and gently turn the
screw inside the “Power Led Adjust” hole.
SELECT FUNCTIONS BUTTONS / ADJUST BUTTONS:
Any picture adjustments can be viewed or modied by pressing any of these buttons. This will bring up an
EasyMenu showing it’s function. Every function can be adjusted using the “Adjust Buttons” to either
increase or decrease the values.
The EasyMenu will be visible for 6 seconds before it automatically disappears. Pressing the same
button will also close the EasyMenu. When any of the “Adjust Buttons” are pressed, a purple color
will indicate that the selected function is active and are now beeing modied. A slider will also
indicate the adjustment.
AUTO DEGAUSS / DEGAUSS:
To manually degauss the picture press this button. This function will remove any color impuritites that may
be visible in the picture. This function is also available as a hot-key beside the “CONT” and “BRIGHT”
adjustment knobs on the right front side of the monitor.
The AUTO DEGAUSS adjustment knob can be adjusted or turned beyond the “30” mark. This will
deactivate (OFF) the auto degauss function. The manual degauss function will however be available.

AVAILABLE FUNCTIONS:
Each of the “function buttons” have two sets of parameters that can be modied. One upper parameter
and one lower parameter. To modify any of the parameters use either of the “adjust buttons” sets.
The EasyMenu display will also indicate what parameter is beeing moded. Some of the parameters
requires the user to press two “functions buttons” simultaneous. This will be shown in the table below.

RESULT
Choose between these languages:
ENGLISH, DEUTSCH, ESPANOL, ITALIANO and
FRANCAIS. Will affect all of the menus and messages.
Makes Contrast darker/brighter excluding background.
Makes Brightness darker/brighter including background.
Moves the position of the picture left or right
Shrinks or expands the picture horizontally.
Moves the position of the picture down or up.
Shrinks or expands the picture vertically.
Rotates the picture counter clockwise or anti-clockwise.
Curves the left and right sides inwards or outwards.
Shrinks or expands the top and bottom side.
Curves the right side inwards or outwards.
Shrinks or expands the right top side+right bottom side.
Choose the color warmth (Kelvin Degree) of the picture.
Available modes are: No 1:9300K, No 2:6500K,
No 3:5000K and No 4:USER (if available)
Decrease or increase the intensity of the red color.
Decrease or increase the intensity of the green color.
Decrease of increase the intensity of the blue color.
Pressing these two buttons simultaneously will cancel
the currently adjusted color mode, and recalls the
previously selected color mode, before entering the
color balance parameter menu.
NOTE:
- When EasyMenu is not shown, the user can start the adjustment of Contrast and Brightness only, without pressing any of the “Select Function Buttons”
- It is recommended to follow the following procedures for the adjustment of distortions;
(1) “Rotation” - (2) “Pincushion” and “Trapezoid” (Adjust the right side) - (3) “Right Pincushion” and “Right Trapezoid” (Adjust the right side)
- The mode “No 4:USER” is not factory preset, it can be programmed by the user - if desired.
After adjustment of “Color Balance” (Red, Green or Blue) and “STORE” (refer to page 5), the user’s color balance preset can be restored by selecting “No 4:USER”

NOTE:
- Moire may appear on the screen due to interference between CRT dot pitch and video signal by conditions of
video image, display size, display brightness etc.
Adjust the conditions of display size, display brightness etc, before trying the adjustment of moire.
- In some cases, this function may cause deterioration of display quality, such as focus, jitter etc.
- The condition of the moire changing circuit will be indicated by pressing any of the “Select Function Buttons” or
“Adjust Buttons”, and will be displayed in the lower left corner of the EasyMenu as its own icon. See below.

STORE:
The user can store the display settings. Only one setting is allowed for each video mode.
These geometry settings will be saved automatically when the EasyMenu is exited:
H.POSITION, H.SIZE, V.POSITION, V.SIZE, PINCUSHION, TRAPEZOID, RIGHT PINCUSHION,
RIGHT TRAPEZOID, H.MOIRE REDUCTION, and V.MOIRE REDUCTION.

Rear side of monitor
SIGNAL INPUTS:
There are two signal inputs connectors allowing you to display two signals from separate sources.
Connect the VGA cable to the desired D-SUB 15P Connector (female) on the rear side of the monitor. If
possible, screw the VGA cable to the D-SUB connector and make sure you don’t bend any of the pins inside
the connector. To reduce tension of the VGA cable, secure it to the base mounted cable tie clamp. Connect
the other end of the cable to the VGA output of your computer, and fasten it there also.
POWER TERMINAL:
Make sure the monitor is turned off before connecting. Insert the powercable into the 220 VDC
power terminal. You may secure the cable further by mounting it to the base mounted cable tie clamp.
TOUCHSCREEN: (optional)
Connect the RS-232 cable to the D-SUB 9P Connector (female) on the rear side of the monitor.
Connect the other end to your COM port of your computer. Install the nesscessary software needed to
operate it.

SIGNAL CHECK:
To refer to the input signal condition, press any of the adjust buttons.
The horizontal and vertical frequency will be indicated in the lower part of the picture.

AUTOMATIC SIGNAL CHECK:
When the CRT monitor has detected the change of the signal input condition, it will indicate the
condition automatically, as follows:
Indication 1:
The EasyMenu indicates the resolution
and vertical frequency. Precision
frequency +/- 2khz approx.
Condition 1:
The monitor detects proper signal.
Solution 1:
No action is needed.

“POWER SAVE” for 5 seconds.

The monitor detects no sync. signal

Indication 3:
The Power Light Indicator ashes.
Condition 3:
This happens when the monitor will
go into the power saving mode.

Solution 3:
Verify power switch of the computer and check cable connection.
Indication 4:
The EasyMenu indicates the
message “INVALID SCAN FREQ”.
Condition 4:
This will happen when the monitor detects a
sync. signal which is out of set-up specication
or is unstable.
Solution 4:
Verify the specication of input signal.

VIDEO MUTING:
When the monitor has detected the change of the input signal condition, the monitor mutes the
picture automatically. This function hides scrambled images which may appear during the changing
period of the input signal. The muting period may vary as it can take a while before the replaced input
signal has become stable or not.

Microprocessor-based preset functions can store 26 sets of geometry settings including the
standard settings. The following industrial standard settings have been pre-programmed by
the factory.

POWER SAVING SYSTEM:
This monitor complies with VESA and ENERGY STAR© power saving requirements. The power
saving system works only when used with VESA DPMS compliant PC’s and/or graphic controllers.

Note: - When the user switch the power OFF during the monitor is in OFF mode, sometimes
the LED ashes continues a few seconds afterwards. This is not an failure.
PLUG & PLAY:
This monitor complies with VESA DDC1/2B specications. Plug & Play is a system with computer,
peripherals (including monitors) and operating systems. It works when the monitor is connected to
DDC ready computer, which is running an operating system software that incorporates Plug & Play
functionality.

TROUBLESHOOTING Product: JH 21C06
COMMON ERRORS:
If for some reason there should be something wrong with the picture quality or no picture present, check
the symptoms carefully and try to cure it with the hints below:
NO PICTURE / LED BEHAVIOUR:
Power Switch and computer power switch should be in the ON position. The signal cable should be
completely connected to the video card/computer. Check the connector for bent or pushed-in pins. If the
LED in front is red, no external VGA signal is present. If there is no light at all in the LED, no power is
present to the unit. Check your external power source. A lack of image is most likely to be caused by
incorrect connection, lack of power, failure to provide a signal or incorrect graphic card settings.
SCROLLING / UNSTABLE IMAGE:
Signal cable may not be completely connected to computer or CRT monitor.
Check the pin assignments and signal timings of the display and your video card with respect to
recommended timing and pin assignments. Make sure that the video card is compatible and that it is
properly seated / installed on the computer.
DISPLAY AREA IS NOT CENTERED / SIZED CORRECTLY:
Make sure that a supported video mode has been selected on the display, or on the video card / system.
If it is impossible to position the image correctly, ie the image adjustment controls will not move the image
far enough, then test it again using another graphics card for the PC system. This situation can occur
with a custom graphics card that is not close to standard timings or if something is in the graphics line
that may be affecting the signal, such as a signal splitter (please note that normally a signal splitter will
not have any adverse effect).
IMAGE APPERANCE:
A faulty CRT tube can have black lines, failed sections, ickering or ashing image.
Incorrect graphics card refresh rate, resolution or interlaced mode will probably cause the image to be
the wrong size, it may scroll, icker badly or possibly even no image is present. Sparkling on the display
may be a faulty CRT tube signal cable.
CONTINUED FAILURE:
If unit after unit keeps failing, consider and investigate whether you are short circuiting the equipment or
doing something else seriously wrong.
