possible, at least 15ft. from the spraying area and all

output pressure greaterthanmarked maximumpressure
ofattachment. Donotuseatpressuregreaterthan the
ratedmaximumpressure of thiscompressor.
3. If connected to a circuit protected by fuses, use time-
delayfuseswiththisproduct.

5. Ensure the hoseisfree ofobstructionsorsnags.

2. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.
Waterentering apowertool willincrease theriskof
electric shock.
3. Donotabusethecord. Neverusethecordtocarrythe
tool or pull the plug from an outlet. Keep cord away
fromheat, oil,sharpedges, and movingparts.
4. Replace damaged cords immediately. Damaged cords
increase the riskofelectric shock.

working area. Position the cord sothat it will not

Useonly 3-wireextension cords that have 3-prong
grounding plugs and 3-pole receptacles that accept the air
compressor’s plug.

Whenusingtheair compressor ata considerable
distance from the power source, use an extension cord
heavy enough to carry the current that the compressor will
draw.Anundersized extensioncordwill causea
drop in line voltage, resulting in a loss of power and
causing the motor to overheat. Use the following chart to
determine the minimum wire size required in an
extension cord.

4. When operating apower tool outside, use anoutdoor
extension cord marked “W-A” or “W”. These cords are

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

CONNECTION)
1. This air compressor ispoweredbya precision built
electricmotor. It should be connectedtoa powersupply
thatis120volts,60 Hz, AConly(normal household
current).
2. Donotoperatethis toolondirect current(DC).A
substantial voltage drop will cause a loss of power and
the motor will overheat. If the air compressor does not
operate when plugged into anoutlet,double checkthe
power supply.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY (SPEED AND WIRING)
1. The no-load speed of the electric motor varies by model
andspecification.Themotorspeedisnotconstant and
decreases under a load or with lower voltage. For
voltage, the wiring in a shop is as important as the
motor’s horsepower rating.
2. Alineintended onlyforlights cannot properlycarrya
powertoolmotor.Wire thatisheavyenoughfor a short
distancewillbetoolightfora greaterdistance.Aline
thatcansupportone powertoolmaynotbeableto
supporttwoor three tools.

1. Thisproductmustbe grounded. Intheeventofan
electricalshortcircuit,grounding reducestheriskof
electricshockbyprovidinganescapewire for the
electric current. Thisaircompressorisequippedwithan
electric cord having an equipment-grounding conductor
and a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into a
matching outletthat is properly installed andgrounded
in accordancewith alllocalcodesandordinances.
2. Do notmodifytheplug provided.Ifit willnot fitthe
outlet,havetheproperoutletinstalledbyaqualified
electrician.

3. Theconductorwith insulation havinganoutersurface
that is green with or without yellow stripes is the
equipment grounding conductor.Ifrepairor
replacementofthe electriccord or plugis necessary,do
not connect the equipment grounding conductor to a
liveterminal.

you do not completelyunderstand the grounding
instructions,or ifyouare indoubtastowhether the

HDX AIRCOMPRESSOR LIMITED TWO-YEAR WARRANTY
This warranty covers defects in workmanship or materials in this HDX air compressor for the two-yearperiod from the date of
purchase. This warrantyis specific to this air compressormodel. Warrantiesfor other HDX products may vary.
This warranty appliesonly to the originalretail purchaser and maynot be transferred. This warranty does notcover normal
wearand tearor any malfunction, failure or defect resulting from misuse, abuse, neglect, alteration, modification or repair byotherthan a service
center
authorizedtorepairHDX brandedaircompressors.Expendablematerials,suchasmotorbrushes,seals,etc.are notcoveredbythiswarranty.
This warranty does not apply to this compressor used in industrial applications or for rental purposes. HDX makes no warranties,
representations or promises as to the quality or performance of its air
compressorsotherthanthosespecificallystatedin thiswarranty.
ADDITIONAL LIMITATIONS
To the extent permitted by applicable law, all implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability or fitness for a
particular purpose, are disclaimed. Any implied warranties,including warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular
purpose, that cannot be disclaimed under state law are limited to two years fromthe dateof purchase. HDXis notresponsible
for direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages. If thisair compressor is used for commercial purposes, the
warranty will apply for ninety (90) days fromthe date of purchase. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied
warranty lasts and/or do not allow theexclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations

Compressor Operation

Draining the tank
Turn off the compressor.
Position a suitable container below the drain valve.
Note: Because condensate is a pollutant, dispose of it in
compliance with local regulations.
Fully openthedrainvalve(K).
Keep the compressor tilted until all moisture has
beenremoved.
If the drainvalve (K)isclogged, unplug the
compressor and pull the safety valve (C) to remove all air
pressure. Remove and clean the safety valve (C) and then
reinstall it.
Completelyclosethe drainvalve(K).
NOTE: Because condensate is a pollutant, dispose of it in
compliance withlocalregulations.
WARNING: Failure to unplug the air compressor and
depressurize the tank before removing the valve may
cause serious personalinjury.

□Turnontheaircompressorand waitforthetankto
fill. Thecompressor automaticallyshutsoff whenthe
pressurereachesthe presetmaximum.
□Turnofftheaircompressor.
□Pull the ringonthesafetyvalve (C) for 20secondsto
releasetheair.
□Release the ring. Air stops escapingatapproximately
40-100 psi.If the safetyvalve dosenotresetstop
Dispellingail between40-100Psi discontinue use andseek
servicebeforeusing the aircompressoragain.
DANGER:Donottamperwith thesafetyvalve. Items
loosened from this devicecould flyupandhit you.
Failuretoheedthiswarningcouldresultin deathor
serious personal injury.Thesafetyvalve automatically
releasesair whenthereceiverpressure exceedsthe
presetmaximum. Checkthe valve before each day of
usebypullingtheringbyhand.
WARNING: Ifair leaksafterreleasingthesafetyvalve
ringorif the valveisstuck,do notuse theair
compressoruntilthe safety valve has been replaced.
