Liebe Fotografin, lieber Fotograf,
Danke, dass Sie sich für ein Hensel-Produkt entschieden
haben. Unsere Produkte entsprechen dem neuesten
Stand der Technik und werden nach strengen Qualitäts-
normen gefertigt.
Damit Sie viele Jahre erfolgreich und produktiv mit diesem
Gerät arbeiten können, möchten wir Ihnen nachfolgend
einige Hinweise zum Gebrauch geben. Nur durch die
notwendige Beachtung unserer Informationen sichern Sie
sich Garantieleistungen, vermeiden Sie Schäden und
verlängern die Nutzungsdauer des Gerätes.
Sollten Sie zur Nutzung Fragen haben, stehen wir Ihnen

Lieferumfang
Zum Standardlieferumfang der Ultra Softbox IV / E
gehören:
•Tasche mit Außendiffusor, Innendiffusor und
Bezug Schwarz/Silber (und bei Art. 380100HC
und 330160HC mit Stoffwabe)
•4 Metallstäbe (6 Metallstäbe bei Art. 330160HC)
•1 Metall-Rückteil für Anschluss
Achtung: Der EH- bzw. MH-Adapter ist nicht im
Lieferumfang der Ultra IV Softbox enthalten. Da an
Ultra E Softboxen hingegen nur der EH-Adapter
verwendet werden kann, wird dieser standardmäßig
mitgeliefert.

Gebrauch
Die Softbox ist für den Studioeinsatz des professionellen
Fotografen bestimmt. Sie dient als Lichtformervorsatz für
ein Hensel-Blitzgerät (Blitzkopf, Kompaktgerät). Die
Softbox darf zu keinem anderen Zweck als oben
beschrieben benutzt werden.
Vor Anschluss der korrekt aufgebauten Softbox (siehe
unter Aufbau) an ein Hensel-Blitzgerät sind die Sicher-
heitsbestimmungen für die Inbetriebnahme des Blitz-
gerätes sorgfältig zu lesen und zu befolgen (siehe
Bedienungsanleitung des entsprechenden Blitzgerätes).
Sicherheitshinweise
Folgende Sicherheitshinweise gelten speziell für den
Umgang mit Softboxen:
Wegen möglicher Beschädigung der Blitzröhre beim
Hantieren ist es unbedingt erforderlich, zuerst die Softbox
zu montieren und dann das Gerät einzuschalten. Vor
jedem Wechsel der Softbox ist das Gerät auszuschalten.
Bei der Abnahme der Softbox ist diese gut festzuhalten,
um zu verhindern, dass Schutzglas und Blitzröhre durch
das Herunterfallen des schweren Metall-Rückteils beschä-
digt werden.
Eine beschädigte Blitzröhre bedeutet Lebensgefahr,
da die hochspannungsführenden Elektroden berührt
werden können. Das Gerät ist sofort auszuschalten
und vom Stromnetz zu trennen. Auch nach dem
Abschalten können die Kondensatoren noch geladen
sein, so dass ein Berühren der Blitzröhrenelektroden
unbedingt vermieden werden muss.
Jedes Blitzgerät gibt durch das Einstelllicht und das
Blitzlicht Wärme ab. Diese Wärme kann Geräteteile und
montiertes Zubehör erheblich aufheizen, so dass Ver-
brennungsgefahr beim Berühren besteht.
Um Verbrennungen zu vermeiden, ist mit einem Wärme-
schutz zu hantieren bzw. die Abkühlphase abzuwarten.

Das Einstelllicht (max. 650 W) darf unabhängig vom mon-
tierten Zubehör wegen Überhitzungsgefahr nie länger als
20 Minuten auf voller Leistung betrieben werden. Danach
ist für eine entsprechende Abkühlung zu sorgen. Zur
Belüftung können auch die seitlich angebrachten Klett-
verschlüsse geöffnet werden.
Die Softbox darf nicht an Blitzgeräte anderer Hersteller
angeschlossen werden.
Befestigung am Blitzgerät
Zum Befestigen von Softboxen an einem Hensel-
Blitzgerät werden zunächst die Haltekrallen der Reflektor-
Schnellwechselmechanik in die geöffnete Position ge-
bracht. Dazu wird der Hebel der Reflektor-Schnell-
wechselmechanik nach links bis zum Anschlag geführt.
Jetzt die korrekt montierte Softbox (siehe unten) plan und
bündig an das Gerät ansetzen. Dabei nicht verkanten. Zur
Befestigung den Hebel wieder nach rechts führen, bis
dieser in die Rastnase einschnappt. Zum Lösen
Zubehörteil festhalten (Vorsicht –dies könnte sehr heiß
sein!), den Hebel zum Entriegeln nach vorne drücken,
dann nach links zum Öffnen schieben.
Dabei ist unbedingt zu beachten, dass die Softbox
sicher festgehalten wird, um zu verhindern, dass die
Softbox durch ihr Eigengewicht herunterfällt und das
Metall-Rückteil die Blitzröhre beschädigt (Lebens-
gefahr!).

Aufbau

Beschichteten Bezug so ausbreiten, dass die
silberne Seite nach oben zeigt.
Abb. 2:
EH-/MH-Adapter mittels der Rändelschrauben
am Metall-Rückteil befestigen (gilt nur für Ultra
IV Softbox) und so auf die runde Aussparung
des Hitzeschildes legen, dass die weite Öffnung
des Metallringes nach oben zeigt. Metallstäbe
bis zum Anschlag in die dafür vorgesehenen
Bohrungen in das Metall-Rückteils einschieben.
Die Abbildungen A und B zeigen, welche
Bohrungen für die Stäbe zu benutzen sind:

Stäbe leicht nach innen biegen und den Stoff
hochziehen. Dabei diagonal vorgehen.

Die 4 Klettbänder an den äußersten Ecken des
Bezuges lösen und das schwarz ummantelte
Ende eines Metallstabes in die jeweilige
Schlaufe einführen. Dabei ist zu beachten, dass
diagonal vorgegangen wird.

Nun den in der Schlaufe befindlichen Stab mit
der einen Hand nach innen drücken. Mit der
anderen Hand das andere Ende des
Klettbandes anfassen, damit den Stoff über den
Stab ziehen und an der Schlaufe festkletten.
Die Ultra Softbox E verfügt über 2 feste silberne
Schlaufen. Den Stab zuerst dort einführen und
anschließend in die diagonale Klettschlaufe
führen.

Anschließend weißen Innendiffusor im Innern
der Softbox mit Hilfe der Klettverschlüsse
spannen.

been designed and manufactured to the highest quality
standards. In order to avoid unnecessary inconvenience,
we advise you to read the operating instructions carefully.
Only by observing this information you can claim for
warranty, avoid damages and extend the life span of the
item.
If there arise any questions concerning the use or

Scope of Delivery
Ultra Softboxes IV / E are additionally supplied with:
Bag containing outer and inner diffusor, and fabric
black/silver (and a cloth honeycomb grid with Code
No. 380100HC and 330160HC)
Metal rods, 4 pcs. (6 pcs. with Code No. 330160HC)
Metal rear EH, 1 pcs.
Attention:
As for Ultra IV Softboxes, the EH and MH Adapter, resp.,
is not included and is to be ordered separately. The Ultra
E Softbox, however, comes with the EH Adapter because
there is no option to choose.

Proper Use
The Softbox is meant for the studio use of professional
photographers. It serves as a lightformer for special types
of Hensel flashlight units (compact flash units, flash
heads).
The Softbox must not be used for any other purpose than
that described above.
Before connecting the proper mounted Softbox to a
Hensel flashlight unit, the safety instructions on handling
with flashlight units must be strictly adhered to (please
read the user manual of the particular flashlight unit
before turning the appliance on).
Safety hints
The following safety hints are particularly designed for the
handling with Softboxes:
To avoid damage to the flashtube, mount Softboxes
before turning the flash unit on. Turn the flash unit off for
each change of Softboxes.
For detaching from the flash unit hold the Softbox care-
fully to prevent it from falling down and damaging the
protection glass dome and flashtube by the massive metal
rear.
A damaged flashtube is extremely dangerous be-
cause the electrically charged electrodes are exposed
and touching must be avoided; the unit must be
switched off and disconnected from the mains outlet
immediately. The capacitors inside may still be
charged and dangerous high voltage can still be
present at the damaged flashtube electrodes.
Due to the modeling and flashlight, each flashlight unit
emits heat. This can heat the parts of the unit and the
mounted accessories up to a dangerous level. To avoid
injuries, handle with isolating clothes or wait until parts
have cooled down.
Due to the danger of overheating, the modeling light
(max. 650W) should under no circumstances be operated
at full power for more than 20 minutes. Then adequate
cooling should be provided for.

The Velcros may be loosened for ventilation purposes.
The Softbox must not be mounted to flashlight units from
other manufacturers.
Mounting to the flashlight unit
For attaching Softboxes to a Hensel flashlight unit the
holding clamps of the reflector quick-change mechanism
must be unlocked. For doing this, the lever of the reflector
quick-change mechanism has to be shifted to the left side
until having reached stop position. Now the Softbox has to
be attached plain and even. Please avoid any tilting or
canting. For attaching, the lever has to be shifted right
until locking. The lock avoids any unintentional shifting.
For loosening, please hold the Softbox (Attention - the
attached item could be very hot!), push the lever forward
and then shift it to the left for opening.
It must be ensured that the Softbox is held safely to
prevent it from falling down. In the case of falling
down, the heavy weight of the Softbox and the solid
metal rear can cause serious damage to the flashtube
(danger!).
Mounting

Spread the black/silver coated fabric out with
the silver side up.
Picture 2:
The EH and MH Adapter, resp., is to be fixed to
the metal rear by using the knurled screws
(Ultra IV Softbox only) and placed in the center
onto the heat shield so that the wide opening
faces you.
Then insert the metal rods into the appropriate
boreholes of the metal rear as far as it will go.

Pull the fabric over the flexible metal rods. Work
diagonally.

Loose the Velcro at the very edges of the black
silver coated fabric and insert the black end of
the metal rod into the loop. It is advised to work
diagonally.

Picture 5:
Now push the rod with one hand to the inside
and hold the Velcro with the other hand to pull
the fabric completely over the rod. Fasten the
Velcro.
The Ultra Softbox E has got two fixed silver
loops. Insert the metal rod there first and then
put the other end into the black loop of the
loosened Velcro opposed on the fabric.

Then stretch the inner diffusor inside the
Softbox and fasten the Velcros at the edges.

Finally cover the Softbox with the outer diffusor.
