Chapter 1 Safety Instrucon
Warning
●All the electronic operaon should be strictly compliance with the electrical safety regulaons,
fire prevenon regulaons and other related regulaons in your local region.
●Do not connect several devices to one power adapter as adapter overload may cause over-heat
or fire hazard.
●Please make sure that the power has been disconnected before you wire, install or dismantle the
device.
●When the product is installed on wall or ceiling, the device shall be rmly xed.
●If smoke, odors or noise rise from the device, turn o the power at once and unplug the power
cable, and then please contact the service center.
●If the product does not work properly, please contact your dealer or the nearest service center.
Never aempt to disassemble the device yourself. (We shall not assume any responsibility for
problems caused by unauthorized repair or maintenance.
●In the use of the product, you must be in strict compliance with the electrical safety regulaons
of the naon and region.
Cauon
●Do not drop the device or subject it to physical shock,and do not expose it to high
electromagnesm radiaon. Avoid the equipment installaon on
vibraons surface or places subject to shock(ignorance can cause equipment damage).
●Do not place the device in entremely hot (refer to specicaon of the device for detailed
operang temperature), cold, dusty or damp locaons, and do not expose it to high
electromagnec radiaon.
●The device cover for indoor use shall be kept from rain and moisture.
●Exposing the equipment to direct sun light, low venlaon or heat source such as heater or
radiator is forbidden (ignorance can cause re danger).
●Do not aim the device at the sun or extra bright places. A blooming or smear may occur
otherwise (which is not a malfuncon however), and aecng the endurance of sensor at the
same me.
●Please use the provided glove when open up the device cover, avoid direct contact with the
device cover, because the acidic sweat of the ngers may erode the surface coang of the device
cover.
●Please use a so and dry cloth when clean inside and outside surfaces of the device cover, do
not use alkaline detergents.
●Please keep all wrappers aer unpack them for future use. In case of any failure occurred, you
need to return the device to the factory with the original wrapper. Transportaon without the
original wrapper may result in damage on the device and lead to addional costs.

●CAUTION: Risk of explosion if the baery is replaced by an incorrect type.
●Improper replacement of the baery with an incorrect type may defeat a safeguard (for
example, in the case of some lithium baery types).
●Do not dispose of the baery into re or a hot oven, or mechanically crush or cut the baery,
which may result in an explosion.
●Do not leave the baery in an extremely high temperature surrounding environment, which may
result in an explosion or the leakage of ammable liquid or gas.
●Do not subject the baery to extremely low air pressure, which may result in an explosion or the
leakage of ammable liquid or gas.
●Dispose of used baeries according to the instrucons.

Chapter 3 Overview
3.1 Introducon
HF-VS409 series visual smoke detecon camera integrates smoke detecon, temperature detecon
and video percepon as well as video intelligent analysis. The camera can detect heat and smoke in
the early stage of a re hazard, facilitate intelligent video analysis and provide warnings by sending
out audible and visual alarm signals and showing alarm informaon and relevant images and video
clips in the video surveillance system. The camera can also verify potenal security hazards based
on intelligent analysis. It can be widely used in various scenes including nine types of small places,
shops, nursing homes, family dwellings, hotels and tall buildings.

MicroSD Card Slot
Insert microSD card for local storage.
RESET Buon
Hold the RESET buon and power on the device. Hold the buon for 10 to 15 seconds while the
device is powered on. Release the buon and the device will be restored to default sengs.
TEST/SILENCE Buon
The buon controls funcons including test, mung the alarm and reseng. Refer to TEST / Mute
for details.

TAMPER
If the device is pulled o its base by force, the buon will pop out to trigger the tampering alarm.
Power Interface
12 VDC power supply
Note
Make sure the power supply connect correctly.
Network Interface
Connect to Ethernet.
Alarm In/Out Interface
Pull out the green connector inside the Alarm In/Out Interface. Loosen the screws with a mini
sloed screrwdriver, put in the cable and ghten the screws. Plug the connector into the green
base.

Chapter 4 Installaon
4.1 Installaon Descripon
●Install the alarm according to the instrucons in this manual.
●To prevent injury, please ensure the alarm is securely aached to the wall or the ceiling.
●Before installaon, conrm that the alarm is intact and the mounng parts in the box are all
ready.
●Do not install the alarm within 30 cm (11.81'') away from power lines to avoid maze polluon
and alarm caused by the gathering of phototacc insects.
●Install mulple devices if the installaon locaon (such as ceiling) is longer than 10 meters
(32.81 ).
●Do not install the alarm at the following locaons:
○Humid areas including kitchens, water heaters, or bathrooms.
○Areas aeted by strong air ow, such as places right in front of air condioners, fans or
heangs.
○Dusty, dirty, or insect infested areas.
○Hot and greasy areas such as stoves.
○Where the sensor might be blocked.
○Within 1.5 meters (4.92 ) from lights.
○Blind spots such as apexes of ceilings and corners of the rooms.
○Areas aected by vibraons, shocks or EMI (the product might be damaged).
○Areas exposed to spraying water or ther liquids.
4.2 Mounng Locaon
When mounng the alarm on at ceilings, locate it at a minimum distance of 500 mm (19.69'')
from the side wall.

4.3 Ceiling Mounng without Juncon Box
Steps
1. Drill 4 screw holes on the ceiling according to the mounng template.
2. Insert the plasc expansion sleeves into the screw holes, and x the mounng base with screws.
3. Smooth the cables and turn the smoke detector clockwise unl it snaps in place.

4.4 Ceiling Mounng with Juncon Box
Steps
Note
Accessories that you need to prepare for installaon: Juncon box (Oponal). Ask our technique
supports and sales and purchase the juncon box.
1. Drill 4 holes on the ceiling according to the mounng template.
2. Insert the plasc expansion sleeves into the screw holes, and x the juncon box with screws.

3. Fix the mounng base to the juncon box with screws.
4. Smooth the cables and turn the smoke detector clockwise unl it snaps in place.

Chapter 5 Quick Operaon
5.1 Connect Device to Network
Connect your device to Ethernet, and you can congure parameters of the device via browser.
5.2 Acvaon
The device need to be acvated by sengs a strong password before use. This part introduces
acvaon using dierent client tools.
5.2.1 Acvate via SADP
SADP is a tool to detect, acvate and modify the IP address of the device over the LAN.
Before You Start
●Get the SADP soware from the supplied disk or the ocial website hp://
www.hikvision.com/ , and install the SADP according to the prompts.
●The device and the PC that runs the SADP tool should belong to the same subnet.
The following steps show how to acvate one device and modify its IP address. For batch acvaon
and IP address modicaon, refer to User Manual of SADP for details.
Steps
1. Run the SADP soware and search the online devices.
2. Find and select your device in online device list.
3. Input new password (admin password) and conrm the password.
Cauon
STRONG PASSWORD RECOMMENDED-We highly recommend you create a strong password of
your own choosing (using a minimum of 8 characters, including upper case leers, lower case
leers, numbers, and special characters) in order to increase the security of your product. And
we recommend you reset your password regularly, especially in the high security system,
reseng the password monthly or weekly can beer protect your product.
4. Click Acvate to start acvaon.
