Hills TRU-BAND User manual

TRU-BAND™ VHF ANTENNA
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Notes:
1. Installation of this product may expose the installer to physical hazards
such as working at heights above the ground, slippery roofs, overhead or
adjacent electrical wires etc. Plan the installation in advance, taking all
possible precautions and, if in doubt, contact a professional antenna
installer.
2. For best results, mount the antenna outdoors, clear of any obstructions
and in line of sight to the transmitter.
3. Tools required: 10mm spanner, 11mm spanner and a sharp knife.
4. Mounting pole diameter: 25mm –50mm (1” – 2”)
Instructions:
1) Unpack the antenna from its box and check that all items are included as
per Figure 1.
2) Install the clamp
bracket and U-bolt to
the pole and finger
tighten the nuts. The
bracket will grip the
mast. Fit the antenna
to the bracket by as
shown in Figure 3.
3) Trim the cable boot as shown in Figure 4. A
neat trim will minimise water ingress. Slide
the boot onto the cable and fit an F-type
connector (not included), as per the
manufacturer’s instructions.

4) Screw the connectoronto the balun, being careful not to over-tighten
(recommended torque is 20 in-lbs). Slide the cable boot over the
connector. Refer Figure 2.
5) Aim the antenna towards the transmitter and tighten the nuts on the clamp
bracket with a 10mm spanner. Tie the cable to the mounting pole, being
careful to avoid sharp bends –refer to the manufacturer’s data for the
minimum bending radius of the cable.

WARRANTY TERMS –AustralianConsumerLaw
1.
HillsAntenna&TVSystems provides consumerswith the following warrantyinrelationtothis
Equipment, in addition to complying with the requirements of any relevant legislation,
includingtheCompetition and Consumer Act 2010(Cth)inAustraliaandtheConsumer
GuaranteesAct1993inNewZealand(theActs),exceptwhereaNewZealandconsumer
acquirestherelevant Equipmentfor thepurposesof abusiness.
2.
Inthiswarranty, wehaveusedthefollowingdefinitions:
(a)
Hills Antenna & TV Systems

our
or
we
meansHillsAntenna&TVSystems,adivisionof
HillsHoldingsLimited ABN35007573417of159PortRoadHindmarshSouthAustralia
5007.
(b)
Equipment
meansthegoodspackaged withthiswarrantydocument,ortowhichthis
warranty document isaffixed.
(c)
Material
meansamaterialorcomponentusedbyHillsAntenna&TVSystemsinthe
manufacture of theEquipment.
(d)
Warranty Period means5yearsfromthedateofpurchaseoftheEquipment. Ifthe
Equipmentorpart(asthe case maybe) isrepairedorreplaced, there willbenoextension
tothe original warranty period.
(e)
Workmanship
meansthehandling,assemblyandmanufacturingprocessesperformedby
oronbehalfofHillsAntenna&TVSystemsinordertomanufacturetheEquipment.
3.
HillsAntenna&TVSystemswarrantsthatforthedurationoftheWarrantyPeriod,the
EquipmentwillbefreeoffaultsarisingfromdefectsinWorkmanshiporMaterials,onthe
termsand conditions set out inthiswarranty.
4.
HillsAntenna&TVSystemsundertakesthatif duringtheWarrantyPeriod,theEquipment,or
anypartoftheEquipment,hasfailedtooperatecorrectlyduetofaultyWorkmanshipor
defectiveMaterial,itwillrepairorreplacetheEquipmentorpart(asthecasemaybe)freeof
charge on thefollowingterms:
(a)
TheconsumermustretainproofofpurchaseoftheEquipment.HillsAntenna&TVSystems
mayrejectawarrantyclaimonEquipmentwheretheconsumerisunabletosubstantiate
proofofpurchasetothereasonablesatisfactionofHillsAntenna&TVSystems.
(b)
TheconsumermustcontacttherelevantHillsAntenna&TVSystemsBranchOffice(details
listed below) or telephone 1800 720 000 upon becoming aware of a defect to any
Equipment.
(c)
FollowingconsultationwithHillsAntenna&TVSystems,we will determine whether there
isadefect,andifsoweagree(atouroption)torepair,replaceorsupplyequivalentgoods,
orpaythe cost of anyof thoseremediestotheconsumer.
(d)
The consumer will be responsible for the collection and freight costs of returning the
EquipmenttoHillsAntenna&TVSystemsortoanydesignatedHillsAntenna&TVSystems
BranchOfficeforrepair orreplacement (as determinedbyus).
(e)
HillsAntenna&TVSystemswillberesponsibleforthefreightcoststodeliveranynewor
repaired Equipment tothe consumer.
(f)
Pleasenotethataservicechargewillapplyifnofaultisidentifiedorifanyfaultdoesnot
fallwithintheconditionsofthiswarranty. Fordetailsoftheapplicableservicecharge,
please contactHillsAntenna&TVSystemspriortomaking aclaimunder thiswarranty.
5.
Theconsumer’s righttothiswarrantywillceaseto applywhere:
(a)
TheEquipmenthasnotbeenusedinaccordancewiththeinstructionsprovidedinthe
installation instructions supplied with theEquipment, or in accordance with usual use for
thattype of equipment;
(b)
Alterations,modificationsorrepairshavebeencarriedoutontheEquipment

Thiswarrantyisinadditiontoanynon-excludablelegalrightsorremediesconferredonthe
consumer under any applicable Act andanysimilarlaws. Tothe extentpermitted bylaw, Hills
Antenna&TVSystems’ liabilityforanynon-excludableconditionorwarrantyislimitedto
rectifyinganydefect atits option,as set out inparagraph4(c).
7.
SubjecttotherequirementsofanyapplicableActorlegislationandtotheextentpermittedby
law,noliability(whether expressed orimplied) ofanynaturewhatsoever,isaccepted by Hills
Antenna&TVSystemsforanyconsequentialloss,damageorinjuryarisingasaresultofany
fault in theEquipment.
8.
This warranty does not extend to damage to Equipment which occurs during transit or
transportation,orwhichis causedbyanyabuse, accidentorimproperinstallation,connection,
use,adjustmentorrepairofgoodsotherwisethaninaccordancewithinstructionsissuedby
Hills Antenna& TVSystems.
9.
ThefollowingappliestoconsumerswhopurchasedtheEquipmentinAustralia:
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot beexcluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
You are entitled toa replacement orrefundfora major failure andcompensation forany other
reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or
replaced ifthegoods failtobeof acceptable quality and thefailure doesnot amount toa major
failure.
