Introduction
PoE (Power over Ethernet) technology is increasingly being used in many
network equipments such as: IP phone, Access Points, Network Hubs,
Network Cameras, and many other types of equipment.
Hobbes has announced a new and easy to use tool for professional
network administrators and installers in identifying the existence of PoE in
a matter of a second! You simply connect the Hobbes PoEfinder to an
active network and the Hobbes PoEfinder will “light up” when it detects
the voltage from the existing network. It will identify the type of PSE
(power sourcing equipment) simultaneously.
Features
1. Check the existence of PoE in a second.
2. Identifies the type of PSE, whether the PoE voltage is detected on the
pair 12-36 (EndSpan), or on the 45-78 (Midspan).
3. Compliant with IEEE802.3af standard.
4. Compact design, easy to plug and read.
5. The P Efinder is designed with both jack and plug, so no extra cable is
needed.
6. Easy to read with indicators on both sides.

Instructions for Operation
Step 1: Connect the plug side of the Hobbes PoEfinder to an active
network outlet or connect to the Hobbes PoEfinder jack via network
cable.
Step 2: In a few seconds, the LEDs will indicate the PoE voltage (48V) if
detected or not. It will display the voltage detected on pair 12-36,
or 45-78.
Note: If an unsolicited voltage > 24VDC existed on the network, the
Hobbes P Efinder will immediately light “on” without delay.
Caution:
Please do not connect this device to a telephone network. If the detected
voltage is over 63VDC, it may permanently damage the unit.
