CONTROL UNIT 97 01 930
1. General information
1.1 Supply voltage 12 V. Make sure of correct polarity (see back panel of unit).
1.2 Only use 12 V magnetic valves. max. output 12 W.
1.3 In humid conditions the unit should not be mounted all the time on the machine,
e.g. overnight.
1.4 When starting the engine while the unit is switched on, the switch "Stop/Start"
must not be on "Start".
Normally,startingtheenginehasnointerferinginfluenceonthecontrolunitwhen
it is switched on. However, if the figure on the display appears 100 and/or even
the gun is activated, this indicates a defective or almost completely discharged
battery. Thus, when starting the engine, the voltagenecessaryforthe control unit
collapses in a rapid sequence and results in the mentioned effects.
1.5 Standstill and moving the machine to and for inside gaps
Inside gaps between interrupted lines, the electronic system has a so-called
direction detector. The impulses generated during backwards moving are
subtracted from those generated during forward operations.
Even when the engine is running during standstill, the impulses generated by
longitudinal vibration in the machine are neutralized.
Therefore, when the machine stopps in a gap (even for a longer period) and/or
moves to and for within the gap* while marking a programme, it is not necessary
to switch off either the electronic system or the impulse generator. Upon
continuing marking the next line begins at the exact location determined by the
programme.
* If the gap will be carried over during backward movement the programm must
be restarted at the end of the last line, with the gap, by operating the "Start"
switch respectively the remote control when continuing with marking.

1.6. Impulse generator
The impulse transmitter normally will be activated by theinnerside of the leftfront
wheel. When using the MALCON 2 system no.: 97 02 370 with this impulse
generator or when using the control unit 97 01 930 at the bottom-wheel impulse
transmitter of the MALCON unit, the other rotating direction should be noted.
Change the connexions 1 and 3 in the impluse transmitter.
1.7. Adjusting the impulse generator
Set the cycle at, for example, 2000 (20 m) and length of the line
at a very low factor, for example 10 cm.
Switch on the control unit.
Set the "Semi-Man-Auto" switch to "Auto". Driveoff and set "Start-Stop"switchto
"Start".
Drive slowly through a distance of two to three cycles, so that two or three short
lines are marked.
Measure the cycle (beginning of line to beginning of line or end of line to end of
line), more preferable, several cycles.
If the measured cycle is longer than the set length, then the impulse spacing is
greater than 1 cm, i.e. the impulse generator rotates too slowly. The friction disk
on the wheel must be pushed towards the outer edge.
If the measured cycle is shorter, the friction disk on the wheel must be pushed
towards the inner edge.

2. Operation
2.1. Switch on the unit by means of the pull switch "power" on the rear panel of the
unit.
For more information on the pull switch, see also chapter "Meter counter".
2.2. Tachometer / meter counter
Switch located below the LCD set to:
Σm Length of marked line will be displayed.*
km/h Travelling speed will be displayed.
* By switching over to Σm, the accumulated counting for the line
length will be shown on the display.
REMARK:
Whenever the magnetic valves are in operation (i.e. when a gun is activated),
never remove the gun connector from the unit. The memory contents for the
meter counter could be falsyfied or be completely lost. The figure 100 may
appear on the display.
By switching the unit on and off, you can make it operable and set the meter
counter back to zero.
Or:
Set the "Start-Stop" switch to "Stop" and then back to "Start", whereby the meter
counter is not set back to zero.

2.3 Total meter count
2.3.1 Adjust switch for Σm - km/h to Σm.
Thenoperate switch TOTAL COUNTleft. The display shows the totalmarkedline
length in meter since the last cancellation. The metering runs until 9999 m and
then begins again with 0. By switching off the apparatus the accumulated count
will not be cancelled.
2.3.2 Cancellation of the total meter count
Switchoff the apparatus (pull-buttonatthe back). Operateswitch TOTALCOUNT
right and hold the switch and at the same time switch on again the apparatus.
Release the switch TOTAL COUNT. Counter is cancelled.
2.4 Setting programm:
Set the cycle (distance from beginning of line to next beginning of line) at the
selector switch
Set the length of line at the selector switch
IMPORTANT: Cycle must be greater than length of line.
Due to various pneumatic and mechanical delays, the actual line length really
marked on the road deviates from the preselected length. For example the
deviation depends on the travelling speed and the control air pressure.
For this reason, after beginning a marking operation, the length of the line
actually marked on the road surface must be measured and must be adjusted at
the control unit accordingly. After changes in speed, air pressure etc. it is
recommendable to re-check and, if necessary, re-adjust the setting.
Adjusting the line length automaticallyalters the length of thegap contrary, as the
gap length automatically results of the length of the cycle minus the line length.
The length of the cycle remains constant, even if travelling speed,
control air pressure etc. vary.
This practical system, only requires observation and adjustment of line length.

2.5 Automatic marking according to programme
Set the "Semi-Man-Auto" switch to "Auto". Set switch marked
to
After operating the "Start" switch, the selected programme begins with the gap.
Therefore, position the machine with the gun above the beginning of the gap you
wish to begin with (end of last line), operate switch "Start" and drive off.
Set switch "Start-Stop" to "Stop", whenever marking operations are finished.
2.6 Continuous lines
If an interrupted line is to be altered to a continous line, set switch marked
to
If the switch is operated during a programmed line, this line is extended as a
continuous line. If the switch is operated inside a gap, the continuous line does
not begin until the gap is completed by the programme.
After returning to , continuous line marking ends and the
programme changes, to interrupted lines, beginning with the gap.
2.7 Automatic re-marking
Set unit as under 2.5
Ifcontinuouslyincreasing fluctuations betweennewandold marking are noticed,
bytemporarily shortening respectively lengthening thegap,bothmarkingscanbe
re-synchronized. In this case, estimate the amount of fluctuation and add
respectively subtract this amout at the selector switch
(cycle). This procedure can be carried
out while the machine is travelling. After marking the next line, alter the selector
switch back to its previous setting.

2.8 Semi-automatic re-marking
Set switch marked to
Set "Semi-Man-Auto" switch to "Semi".
Drive off, and start the beginning of every line as per the old lines by using the
remote control. The lines will be finished automatically according to progrmmed
line length.
2.9 Manual setting of line begin and end
Setting of switch marked has no effect.
Set "Semi-Man-Auto" switch to "Man".
Set "Start" switch to "Start".
Operate remote control as long as line marking is required.
2.10 Continuous line a fixed length
1. Possibility
For lines less than 100 m length, the required length can be preselected at the
selector switch
Set the cycle at a higher figure, preferably at 99.99.
Set switch marked to
Set "Semi-Man-Auto" switch to "Semi".
Drive off, and at the required beginning of line, set "Start" switch respectively
operate remote control. The end of the line is determited automatically after
travelling the set length of line.
Instruction manual
No. 2117-7e 2.98
2. Possibility
Set switch "Semi-Man-Auto" to "Man".
Set switch "km/h - Σm" to position Σm.
Position of switch is equal.
Either:
Set meter counter to zero position by simply switch off and on the unit.
Or:
Keep the meter counter at the actual figure and calculate the new counter figure
by simply adding the requried line length.
Set switch "Start-Stop" to "Start".
Drive off and activate the required line length with the remote control.
3. Possibility
Incasethe continuous line shall start immediatelyafterdriving off, withouthaving
marked before an interrupted line as per programme.
Set switch to
Position of switch "Semi-Man-Auto" is equal.
Set switch "Start-Stop" to "Start".
Drive off and at the desired line beginning use the remote control. For line finish
please set the switch "Start-Stop" to "Stop".
