INSTRUCTIONS
Dear mommy, dear daddy,
we are delighted to see that you chose to entrust your baby to our hanging
fabric cradle that we carefully designed to be suitable even for the new-borns.
Working with Czech designers and suppliers, and with great love and care,
we crafted a fully Czech product made of high-quality natural materials.
Furthermore, every purchase helps us support the development of sheltered
workshops.
Thank you! Hojdavak team
Hojdavak Baby Cradle will quickly soothe your baby, allowing them to get
some much-needed quality sleep. We highly recommend using the cradle
with our spring to create a rhythmic up-and-down swinging – the same
movement that the unborn baby felt whenever the mommy was walking, the
same movement that makes the baby feel safe and comforted.
In the cradle, the baby lies curled up, with a rounded back and legs close
to the body. The majority of physiotherapists agree that this is how a baby
should be carried around as well, since this position promotes proper spine
development and helps relieve colic. By helping the baby relax, the cradle also
allows the mother to do same, giving her more time to spend on self-care and
the rest of the family.
Our cradle is TÜV certified and meets the strict European product safety
norms (Directive 2001/95/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council).

PURPOSE OF USE
Hojdavak fabric baby cradle is designed for daily use, for babies to lie and
sleep in, to rock the baby, and to help put the baby to sleep. The cradle is
designed for new-borns to babies of up to around 9 months of age. The
cradle does not replace a crib. The cradle’s maximum load bearing capacity
is 15 kg. Our cradle is certified and meets the strict European product
safety norms (Directive 2001/95/EC of the European Parliament and of the
Council). It is forbidden to use the cradle in ways and under conditions other
than those specified by us!
SAFETY NOTICE
• Read the instructions carefully and use the product in accordance with
the instructions – any changes or alterations of the product that have a
negative effect on safety and health protection are strictly forbidden. Do
not hang the cradle near fire or other sources of heat.
• Do not leave the baby unattended – when the baby learns to sit or roll
over in the cradle without help, the cradle should only be used under direct
adult supervision. The manufacturer is not responsible for any accidents.
The cradle is not meant for play.
• Do not exceed the 15 kg maximum load bearing capacity – the spring
could deform or break.
• Follow the spring safety instructions if using the spring – the spring must
be used with a properly installed safety rope threaded through both (upper
and lower) snap hooks and the spring itself. The rope protects the cradle
in case the spring is overloaded or broken. See the Spring Instructions for
more information.
• Check the ropes regularly – they must be in perfect condition, without
mechanical damage and wear and tear. If you discover that there is even a
little damage to the rope, replace it immediately!
• Regularly check that the suspension method is firm and stable – be
it a ceiling anchor, a door frame bar, or a free-standing mount. Only
suspend the cradle in places that are able to hold the load safely. Pay
special attention to drywall, gypsum board ceilings, and similar materials
and always consult an expert before hanging a cradle in a place made of
these materials. Check the strength and stability of screws and fixtures by
performing a load-test using the weight of your body.
• Packaging – make sure that plastic bags and other packaging is out of
reach of children under 3 years of age.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
The fabric cradle can be laundered at 40 °C. The mattress must not be
laundered due to the buckwheat hulls – a wet cloth can be used to gently
wipe o dirt. The mattress must be protected with a cover – see the eco cover
we oer. Minimum product lifetime: two years.
DISPOSAL
To dispose of a product with expired lifetime or a product that suered
irreparable damage, the product must be disassembled into separate parts,
pieces, and materials; these must then be disposed of in a manner compliant
with eective legislation and regulations.
WHERE TO HANG THE CRADLE
Hanging the cradle in a suitable place plays an integral role in the cradle’s
functionality. Hang the cradle in the area where you spend the majority of your
time during the day, so you can always keep an eye on the baby. Make sure
there is a place for you to comfortably sit next to the cradle to rock it, so you
can simultaneously play with your other child, read a book, or use your laptop.
HOW TO HANG THE CRADLE
The cradle can be suspended using any safe anchor fixing like a ceiling anchor,
a door frame bar, a free-standing mount, or any other firm element capable of
bearing the load (e. g. stairs, beams, a tree branch, etc.). The suspension point
should be at least 190 cm above the ground/floor if you are using the spring.
The total height of a cradle with a spring is around 135 cm when empty (see the
picture below). If you want to use a higher suspension point, you will need to
use an auxiliary rope to make the suspender part longer. Make sure the cradle
is suspended in a way that allows you to easily place the baby inside. Ideally,
the cradle should be 40 cm above the floor to allow for nice and comfortable
rocking. Consult a fixture expert to make sure your anchor fixing is installed
safely and properly. There are many ways to hang the cradle, depending on
your options and preferences. See the “Suspending the Hojdavak cradle”
section of our online store to see how we propose to suspend your cradle. If
you are using the auxiliary rope, make sure to use a knot that will prevent it
from scraping and tearing at the fixture point.

ASSEMBLING THE CRADLE
Take the large snap hook out of the package and attach it to
the small screw hook attached to the spring, or to the fixture/auxiliary rope (if
not using the spring).
3
To suspend a cradle, use a strong fixture (a ceiling anchor, a standing mount,
etc.) able to bear the load of at least 100 kg. If the fixture is more than 200 cm
above the floor, use the auxiliary rope to make sure the cradle is hanging low
enough to allow you to comfortably place the baby inside. You can purchase
the auxiliary rope in our online store, in the “Hojdavak fixtures” section.
1
2Get your spring ready (if using) and check that the safety rope is installed
properly. The safety rope must be threaded through both snap hooks and the
spring itself, with the ends tied with a strong, firm knot. Never use the spring
without the safety rope! Read more in the Spring Instructions available at
Hodavak.cz. Attach the connector to your fixture or the rope and screw tightly.
Place the mattress into the cradle (buckwheat side up) and push it all the
way to the upper (back) edge. XL version: Fold the fabric that overlaps the
mattress under the mattress. When the mattress becomes too short for the
baby, remove it from the cradle and place a folded fleece blanket into the
pocket under the mattress (blanket is not included with the cradle).
5
Make a loop at both ends of the rocking cord and insert one of them into the
snap hook. To rock the cradle with a spring, pull down on the rocking cord.
7
When placing the baby into the cradle, make sure the baby’s head is at
the upper edge of the cradle – this will keep the baby’s head slightly lifted.
Finally, tie the strings together with a bow.
8
Grab the fabric cradle, find the upper fold, gather the fabric in your hand
and insert it into the snap hook. Close the snap hook. The side with the
strings is the front; it is the side you will be facing when placing the
baby in the cradle.

6
Gather the sides of the cradle and place the fabric into the grooves on the
beechwood bar.

Make sure that the cradle is fitted properly before the first
use and every time after you handle the safety rope by
performing this simple test:
Use your bodyweight to put some weight and pressure
on the cradle. Stretch the spring as far as the safety rope
allows. Make sure that the cradle is not touching the ground.
FINAL STEP –TEST THE CRADLE!
Grab the snap hook and pull to stretch the spring to the
max, as far as the safety rope allows.
When the rope is fully extended, the cradle must remain
above the ground.
