Operating instructions
Assembly and disassembly
Blade – tips and warnings
Do not allow the appliance to run for too long when chopping hard cheese or chocolate.
This may result in the ingredients heating up and melting, leaving you with lumpy
ingredients.
Always insert the blade unit into the processor bowl before adding any ingredients. Never
use the food processor blade to chop very hard ingredients such as coffee beans, nutmeg,
turmeric and ice cubes, as this may blunt the blade unit.
Never fill the bowl beyond the MAX line.
The standard processing time for all chopping jobs is between 30–60 seconds.
When chopping onions, press the pulse button a few times to keep the onions from being
chopped too finely.
If food sticks to the blade unit or the inside of the food processor bowl:
1 Switch off the appliance.
2 Remove the food processor bowl’s lid.
3 Remove any food from the blade or bowl using the spatula provided.
Insert the bowl as illustrated (A),
making sure the marks on the
bowl and the motor unit line up.
The bowl must ‘click’ into place,
with final assembly as shown (B).
To remove the bowl, turn it anti-
clockwise as shown (C).

Kneading accessory – tips and warnings
Always install the kneading accessory in the food processor bowl before adding any
ingredients.
The standard processing time for all kneading jobs is 30–180 seconds.
Discs – tips and warnings
Never exert excessive pressure on the pusher when pressing ingredients down the feeding
tube.
Do not allow the appliance to run for too long when chopping hard cheese or chocolate.
This may result in the ingredients heating up and melting, leaving you with lumpy
ingredients.
Do not use the shredding disc to shred chocolate; instead, use the food processor blade
for this process.
Never fill the bowl beyond the MAX line.
Pre-cut larger ingredients to fit them down the feeding tube.
Fill the feeding tube evenly for best results.
When shredding soft ingredients, use a low speed setting to keep the ingredients from
turning into a puree.
If the ingredients to be shredded or sliced have a small diameter, put the outer pusher in the
feeding tube to make the tube smaller. Then use the inner pusher to feed the ingredients
down the tube.
When processing large amounts of ingredients, process small batches, emptying the bowl
between each operation.

6
Citrus press – tips and warnings
Never fill the bowl beyond the MAX line.
The appliance can only be switched on if the citrus press has been
assembled correctly with the motor unit, and the cone assembled securely
with the sieve. If all the parts have been assembled correctly, the cone will
start rotating as soon the speed control knob is set to the minimum setting.
To use the citrus press:
1 Turn the speed control knob to the lowest speed setting.
2 Press the fresh fruit onto the cone.
Note: Stop pressing down on the fruit intermittently to remove the pulp from
the sieve. Once the process is complete or you would like to remove the
pulp, switch off the appliance and remove the bowl (along with the sieve
and cone) from the motor unit.
Blender – tips and warnings
Always attach the sealing ring onto the blender blade unit before attaching the unit to the
blender jug.
Allow the appliance to cool to room temperature after processing two batches.
Never open the lid while the blade is rotating.
The safety-lock feature ensures that the appliance can only be switched on if the blade unit
along with the blending jug have been assembled correctly with the motor unit. The safety
lock will disengage once the jug is correctly assembled by turning it towards the ‘locked’
symbol until it clicks in place.
Put the jug onto
the motor unit.
Turn the jug
clockwise until it
clicks in place.
To remove the
bowl, turn it anti-
clockwise.

7
To add liquid ingredients during processing, remove the measuring cup and pour the
ingredients into the blending jug through the hole in the lid.
Pre-cut solid ingredients into smaller pieces before processing them.
When preparing larger quantities, process small batches instead of a large quantity at
one time.
Use cooked ingredients when blending soup.
When processing hot liquid or ingredients that tend to foam or froth (such as milk), never
put more than 1 litre in the blending jug to avoid spillage.
If you’re not satisfied with the blending process, switch off the appliance and stir the
ingredients with a spatula. You may also remove some of the ingredients or add extra
liquid.
Should any ingredients stick to the walls of the blending jug:
1 Switch off the appliance and unplug it.
2 Lift the lid and use a spatula to remove the ingredients from the wall of the jug.
3 Keep the spatula at a safe distance of 2cm from the blades.
Cleaning
Always unplug the appliance before removing any accessories or cleaning the motor.
Use the pulse button to quickly and easily pre-clean the food processor bowl and blending
jug. Simply add some water and dish-washing liquid to the dirty bowl or jug, and secure the
lid. When pre-cleaning the food processor bowl in this way, ensure that the processor blade
is assembled in the bowl.
Environment
Do not dispose of electrical appliances as unsorted municipal waste; use collection facilities
specifically for electrical appliances. If electrical appliances are disposed of in landfills or
dumps, hazardous substances can leak into the groundwater and eventually get into the
food chain, damaging your health and well-being.

Troubleshooting
Please consult this table before calling our Customer Care Department.
Symptom Possible cause and fix
The appliance does not
switch on
Make sure that all the assembly indicators (on the lid, on the
bowl, on the blending jug and on the motor unit) are aligned.
The appliance suddenly
switches off while
processing
The lid of the bowl may have become dislodged during
processing. Close the lid securely. The appliance will immediately
start processing again.
The processing job is too heavy. Set the control knob to the ‘OFF’
position and remove the mains plug from the wall socket. Then
allow the appliance to cool down to room temperature, plug the
appliance in again and switch it back on. Now process smaller
batches instead.
The motor runs, but the
cone of the citrus press
does not turn
Please check if you have inserted the tool holder and citrus
press correctly.
Check if the sieve on the citrus press is securely attached. (Line
up the indicator lines on the sieve with the points on the bowl’s
handle.)
Are all the removable
parts dishwasher safe?
Yes, except the motor unit and the protection cap for the blade
unit.
What does ‘pulse’
mean?
When you press the Pulse button, the appliance will run at its
highest speed as long as you keep pressing the button. Use the
Pulse button when you want more control over the processing job
( for example, when chopping).
May I pour boiling hot
ingredients into the
blending jug?
No. Allow the liquids or solid ingredients to cool down to 80°C to
avoid damaging the accessories.
The motor produces an
unpleasant smell during
processing
It is common for a new appliance to give off an unpleasant odour
or emit a small amount of smoke the first few times it is used.
This phenomenon will stop after you have used the appliance a
number of times.
The appliance may also give off a slight odour or emit some
smoke if it has not been in use for an extended period. In this
case, switch off the appliance and allow it to cool for 60 minutes.
