Homepin new machine Warranty
------------------------------------------
Your new Homepin pinball machine, “This is Spinal Tap Pinball” has been hand
built by us in our own Taiwan factory. No two machines are identical and there
will no doubt be some differences between this service manual and your
machine. We have done our best to make sure this manual is as up to date as
possible before going to print but please check the Homepin website in case
there are updates or service notes that may have been implemented after
printing.
We guarantee all circuit boards manufactured by us for life. We are unable to
extend this to PCBs manufactured by outside vendors so those specific boards
have a 12 months warranty from the date of original purchase. All other parts of
your machine are covered for 12 months. Some trim or decoration parts can be
easily damaged by moving and transporting the machine, these are not covered
for any cosmetic problems.
Please contact Homepin or one of our authorised dealers if you have any query
or service issue.

This is Spinal Tap Pinball (TAP)
Welcome to This is Spinal Tap Pinball!
This machine is the result of over two years of work oen under the most
arduous & taxing of situaons. Recent world events have created havoc
with normal supply chains and the labour and work situaon is currently
all over the place! We have done our best, under these trying condions,
to bring you the best machine we could build.
Naturally there is no single person responsible for the design and
construcon of this machine (and many more to come) so let’s call them
“The Homepin Team”.
Homepin was formally started in 2013 by myself aer several years
making replacement pinball machine PCBs in my small home electronic
workshop. My wife of 40 years Karen & I decided that we would start a
factory in China and manufacture pinball machines.
Three years into the project Karen passed away and that created many
serious financial and personal hurdles that had to be overcome. In 2020
Homepin moved from China to Taiwan and built a new pinball factory,
again from scratch!
We inially recommenced our replacement board making business and
gradually finished building the rest of the factory required to manufacture
pinball machines again.
I hope you enjoy playing our creaon and that you appreciate the
staggering amount of me, effort and money that has been expended to
bring this very complex product to market.

5
Your TAP Pinball machine is a unique, hand made machine. No two are
exactly alike because of this. There will be differences between each
machine and even this service manual which is generic in nature.
We have tried to incorporate as many mechanical and electronic
adjustments as possible so that your machine can be tailored and
tweaked to give the best possible performance. Please ensure that you
familiarise yourself with the operaon and adjustments of the machine
covered in the service manual to maximise your playing experience.
Best wishes for the future,
Mike Kalinowski

Program update instructions
NOTE: Apple computers are not supported at this time.
A programming cable is included with your Spinal Tap pinball
machine and is stored in a plastic wallet in the backbox.
At boot, your pinball machine displays the software version installed on the DMD for about two
seconds.
If you look on the Homepin website, you will be able to see if there is a newer version of software
available than that installed in your machine. www.homepin.com
If so, you can download the ZIP file and unpack it to a folder on your PC (ideally a laptop)
where you can locate it after download & unzipping.
Plug the programming cable into the black 6 pin socket on the H-0051 board as shown in the
picture above. The other end plugs into a USB port of your PC.
Start the updating program by double clicking on the “HOMEPIN_UPDATE_TOOL.bat” file in
the downloaded & unzipped folder (power to the pinball machine should be on).
Once the panel opens, select the correct port for the USB updating cable and then also
select the new version of the software you wish to install. Press “Update Game” and another
panel will open showing updating is underway.
The START button on the front of your machine will also flash quickly while the machine
is being programmed.
When it has finished (this could take several minutes) the START button will stop flashing and a
window on your PC screen will open to indicate programming has completed.
Unplug the programming cable and reboot your pinball to confirm the new version has been
loaded (indicated on the DMD at boot).
*Do NOT unplug or interrupt the programming whilst
it is underway or you could brick your machine* 6

YD-F600 Multi-coin Microcomputer Coin Acceptor Instructions.
(factory fitted option at extra cost – not included with every machine)
YD-F600 Features:
1. The YD-F600 can be programmed to accept one type of coin or token only.
2. The YD-F600 can accept a wide variety of coin & token types. It operates by learning the
features specific to the sample coins used when programming.
3. High accuracy & stability ensures correct identification of old and new coins/tokens of any
denomination. Have 20 coins to hand from different years and in various condition for best results.
3. Coin inhibit input allows the YD-F600 to reject all coins.
Suitable coin diameter: 18~32mm
Suitable coin thickness: 1.4~3.5mm
Power: 12VDC +- 20%
Current draw: 40ma (standby) 350ma (when activated by a coin insertion)
Operating Temperature: -30° C~+80° C
Inhibit Operation Voltage: >0.5V
Programming:
1. Ensure all switches are in the normal position.
2. Press AND HOLD the programming switch (above the LED) for 3 seconds – the LED will blink
slowly – RELEASE the switch, then press AND HOLD the switch a second time for a further 3
seconds and the LED will blink quickly. The unit is now ready to program with your desired coin or
token.
3. Keeping the YD-F600 level, insert the desired coin or token you wish to program, one at a time.
You should prepare at least 20 examples of the desired coin/token and preferably pieces in differing
condition and from different years to ensure the YD-F600 is best positioned to accept ALL valid
coins.
4. The LED will continue to blink quickly as you keep inserting the coins – the YD-F600 is learning
the differing specifics of the coins you are inserting and, when it is satisfied, it will automatically
exit programming mode and the LED will become steady ON again.
5. The YD-F600 is now ready to use.

Service Menu Access & Description
The service menu is accessed by pressing the “ENTER” button on the door board
mounted inside the door.
Many things can be changed or adjusted to suit in this menu. You can also check the
switch matrix status, test all LEDs, run a test on the LED DMD and test and
individually adjust solenoid power.
The monitor and video player can be tested by pressing the small switch on the video
player board. The Homepin logo and firmware version will be displayed for 30
seconds after which time the player will automatically revert back to “game over”
mode.
To scroll through menu options, use the flipper left & right buttons and press the
“START” button to accept a choice or change a setting from on to off for example.
When finished adjusting things in the menu use the “MENU” button on the door
board to save your changes and exit the menu.
The video game is set ON by default and this can be turned OFF in the “Game
Settings” section of the menu.
Adult mode is disabled (OFF) by default and must be turned ON to enable Adult
mode. Use caution and be aware of the setting in which the machine will be used if
turning this option on. Whilst the adult language used is pretty tame by today's
standards, it still isn’t suitable for almost all public venues. This setting is under
“Game Settings” in the menu.
There is a setting in “Game Settings” for the USA that allows a depiction of
“quarters” on the LCD screen as they are added – 1 x ¼, 2 x ¼, 3 x ¼ and CREDIT.
This can be turned on or off as desired after setting the coins for 4 coins = 1 x credit
in the coin settings area.
