Install a 9V dry cell battery in the battery compart-
ment. Securely connect the battery electrodes with
the sockets.

Precautions
1. If the meter pegs, stop measuring. The meter coil
could be damaged.
2. Avoid contact of the meter sensor with any charged
material. Such contact could damage the meter.
3. Be sure to press the POWER switch off when not
using the meter so as to prolong battery life. The
meter consumes the battery when the POWER
switch is on even though the MEASURE switch is
not depressed.
4. This unit has an analog meter for measuring even
slight electrification.
Electrification of this unit itself could affects the
meter needle. If recognize swinging of the needle
or feel an unusualness in the measuring result,
discharge the static electricity of this unit by
appropriate equipment.
Caution

Hold the meter away from the object to be measured
and press the MEASURE switch. Then, while press-
ing the MEASURE switch, move the meter to the
proper measuring distance
(about 25 mm).

For re-measuring, move the meter away, then again
press the MEASURE switch and move the meter to the
proper measuring distance (the meter judges that it’s
zero V in the atmosphere when the MEASURE switch is
depressed).

Adjust the zero screw if necessary
to zero the meter, gently, little by
little using a screwdriver.
Press the POWER switch to on.
Then press the BATT CHECK
switch. The needle should register
in the “BATT” range while pressing
the BATT CHECK switch.
If the needle does not reach the
“BATT” range,
replace the battery with new one.

Press the POWER switch to off after completing
measurement. The meter consumes the battery
when the POWER switch is on even though the
MEASURE switch is not depressed.

Use the 1 kV range (“OFF”
position of the SCALE switch)
to measure low static voltage,
and the X5 range (“ON” posi-
tion of the SCALE switch) to
measure large static voltage.

Carry out periodic calibration and inspection to main-
tain accurate measurement.
