our HP Apollo 9000 Model 425s and 425t Computer
The HP Apollo 9000 Series 400 is afamily of high performance graphics
w
orkstations based on the Motorola MC68030 and MC68040 pro cessors. Full
ob ject-code compatibilit
yis main
tained with most earlier Series 300 and 400
computers. Most 400x systems ma
ybeupgraded to 425x systems.
Both the 425t and the 425s use the 25 MHz MC68040 pro cessor with abuilt-in
oating poin
t copro cessor.

Much of the functionalit
yfor the Series 425 computers is con
tained on a
single system board. Most of the in
terface con
trollers, CPU circuits, memory
con
troller and graphics/video circuits are on this system b oard. Eac
hmass
storage device has its con
troller circuits on aPC board that is part of the
device. The 425s also pro
vides slots for additional graphics and I/O interface
boards.
Information on the Mo del 433 is also co
v
ered in this Owner's Guide. Since it is
essen
tially the same as the 425 but with afaster pro cessor speed (33 MHz), no
distinction is made in the information.
Model 425t
The 425t ma
ybeused in either adesktop or deskside conguration. Up to
840 Megabytes of in
ternal mass storage is a
