The law requires that personnel using steam cleaner must be
competent and qualified to do so. Steam Vacuum Cleaner

Never push the equipment beyond its design limits. If it will not
do what you want with reasonable ease and speed, assume you
have the wrong size or model for the job. Contact your local HSS
Hire Shop for advice.
Keep the equipment clean, you will find this less of a chore if you
clean it regularly, rather than wait until the end of the hire
period.
Check the waste bucket at regular intervals and empty as
necessary, following the instructions in ‘EMPTYING THE WASTE
BUCKET’. Remember, it is your responsibility to dispose of any
dirt in a responsible manner.
Handle the equipment with care. Avoid dropping it, knocking it,
or otherwise exposing it to damage.
When not in use, store the equipment somewhere clean, dry
and safe from thieves.
EQUIPMENT CARE
Switch OFF and unplug the steam cleaner.
Disconnect the head, wand and hose. Empty the dirt tank.
Collect all the parts together, neatly coil the flex and give the
tool a final clean up ready for return, to your local HSS Hire
Shop.

The red light will flash
when water is running out To fill the boiler let all
steam out of the boiler by
keeping the steam trigger
pressed
Switch off the appliance
and unplug from the
mains. Wait a few minutes
before opening the boiler

Unlock clamps Remove transparent cover
Remove waste bucket.
Empty waste bucket
and clean thoroughly
Replace bucket cover
and lock clamps
The waste bucket must be emptied upon hearing the
audible alarm & vacuum cut off. Switch off & disconnect
from mains.
GENERAL SAFETY
For advice on the safety and suitability of this equipment,

There is a serious risk of personal injury if you do not follow
all instructions laid down in this guide.
This equipment should be used by an able bodied,
competent adult who has read and understood these
instructions.
Anyone with either a temporary or permanent disability,
should seek expert advice before using it.
Keep children, animals and bystanders away from the work
area. Cordon of a NO GO area using cones and either
barriers or tape, available for hire from your local
HSS Hire Shop.
Never use this equipment if you are ill, feeling tired, or under
the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Safety goggles MUST be worn by everyone in the work area.
Watch your footing. Take special care if working other than
on firm, level ground. Above ground-level, work from a
stable, purpose-made work platform such as a step-up or
trestle.
Ensure the work area is well lit and ventilated, if in doubt ask
about lighting and ventilation equipment at your local HSS
Hire Shop.
Always Check daily before use that the power supply cable,
plug and sockets are in good condition; check for visible
signs of damage (do not use if damaged)
Never lift or pull the equipment by its power supply cable.
Never set up the equipment on or near surfaces or objects
that might be damaged by heat and/or moisture.
Always turn OFF the equipment when not in use.
Never leave the equipment turned ON while unattended.
Never allow any part of the steam cleaner to be immersed in
water.
Never put any detergent or fragrance in the boiler water
Make sure you know how to turn the unit OFF before you
turn it on, in case you get into difficulties.
HSS Steam Cleaners are designed to plug straight into a
standard, 230V 13amp power socket.
If the equipment fails, or if its power supply cable or plug
becomes damaged, return it. Never try to repair it yourself.
Keep cables out of harm’s way, and clear of the work area.
Extension leads should be fully unwound and loosely coiled,
away from the equipment. Never run them through water,
over sharp edges or where they could trip someone.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, use a suitable RCD
(Residual Current-Operated Device) available from your
local HSS Hire Shop, or power the equipment from a mains
circuit with a built-in RCD.
Ensure the Steam Cleaner and power socket are switched
OFF before plugging into the power supply.

Replace bucket cover and
lock clamps Push down and rotate the
boiler safety cap and remove.
Never put any detergent or
fragrance in the boiler water
Fit funnel and fill the boiler
using cold water. Replace
the boiler safety cap and
secure firmly
Plug the power cable into a
suitable electric socket.
Press the on / off switch on
the back of the machine

Press the steampeddle switch
once, the amber light will
start to flash
Wait approximately 10
minutes until the amber light
is steady. The amber light will
continue to flash during use.
This is normal
Open the front panel and
connect the steam hose Turn the steam control knob
to required setting
Select required accessory and
push firmly onto the pistol
grip
Depress the trigger on the
pistol grip to release the
steam
If vacuum is required press
the vacuum pedal once Control the vacuum suction
by pressing the pedal and
holding down until required
suction
