2.2 Positioning
With the rapid development of data centers, power consumption of core equipment in a
traditional equipment room has risen from 3-5 kW per cabinet to 10 kW per cabinet. This
brings challenges of heat dissipation, energy saving, and environment protection to the current
air cooling system.
Huawei has developed the chilled water-cooled in-row precision air conditioner for
new-generation data centers. The NetCol5000-C can be deployed with standard cabinets in
use currently. The NetCol5000-C dissipates the heat generated by high-density equipment in a

3
data center, reduces power consumption on cooling, and increases power usage efficiency
(resulting in a lower PUE value).
The NetCol5000-C is a high-heat-flux cooling solution that applies to high-density data
centers or overheated areas in common data centers. Based on the types of the cooling
medium, the high-heat-flux cooling solutions are classified into water-based solutions and
non-water-based ones. The NetCol5000-C is a water-based solution.
2.3 Features
The NetCol5000-C features high compatibility, efficient refrigerating, optimal reliability,
intelligent monitoring, quick installation, and easy maintenance.
High Compatibility
Structure: NetCol5000-C cabinets can be combined with 2 m and 2.2 m high and 1 m
and 1.2 m deep cabinets.
Ports: The ports of NetCol5000-C match the ports of other devices in the data center.
Power supply: The NetCol5000-C can run in the working condition where the input
system is 200 V to 240 V, single-phase, and 50 Hz or 60 Hz and protect against overload
and short circuits.
Control mode: The NetCol5000-C supports multiple control modes, including air supply
control, cold aisle control, return air control, and hot aisle control. You can select control
modes based on the characteristics of your data centers.
Efficient Refrigerating
The NetCol5000-C is at the end of an air conditioning process. It has eight electronically
commutated (EC) fans to supply cold air with a rotational speed ranging from 30% to
100%. This suits various server air volumes as well as maximizes energy efficiency.
The chilled water valve is used to control the incremental proportional, integral and
derivative (PID) parameters with precise adjustment and accurate control. In addition,
the system cooling capacity can reach 30 kW or higher, which can meet various in-row
refrigerating requirements.
High Reliability
Two power inputs: The NetCol5000-C has two power inputs. If one input fails, the other
automatically becomes active to ensure stable and continuous power supply.
Two DC power supplies: The DC power supply unit contains two rectifiers working in
1+1 backup mode. The efficiency can reach 94%.
Multiple fans: The NetCol5000-C adopts eight fans in air supply. If a single fan is faulty,
an alarm will be generated, but the normal operation of the device will not be affected.
Forcible and automatic drainage with dual floats and double condensed water pumps: If
one water pump is faulty and the condensation level rises, the other water pump
immediately drains condensed water. At the same time, the NetCol5000-C determines
that the drainage system is faulty and reports an alarm.
Group control function: The NetCol5000-C is networked in active/standby group control
mode. During proper running, the rotation function improves the average service life of
the NetCol5000-C. If high temperatures or other faults occur, a required number of
standby NetCol5000-Cs are enabled to rectify the faults.

Humidity and temperature sensor: The NetCol5000-C is able to deploy a maximum of
six humidity and temperature sensors to control the humidity and temperature in the data
center.
Intelligent Monitoring
You can monitor and configure the NetCol5000-C on network management terminals.
You can view the operating status and working mode of the NetCol5000-C on the
controller and modify current parameters and the control mode.
Quick Installation
The NetCol5000-C is preinstalled and assembled before delivery. You need only to perform
easy installation onsite, such as placing cabinets, adjusting leveling feet, combining cabinets,
and connecting chilled-water pipes, power cables, voltage jumpers, and communications
signal cables.
Easy Maintenance
Software maintenance: You can use controller USB ports to upgrade the NetCol5000-C,
perform maintenance, and set parameters. This reduces service costs.
Hardware maintenance: You can easily maintain the NetCol5000-C from both the front
and rear.
2.4 Components
The NetCol5000-C consists of cooling components, the controller, and monitoring system.
2.4.1 Cooling Components
Appearance
NetCol5000-C can be installed on a concrete floor or an ESD floor, is combined with IT
cabinets. It supports underfloor or overhead cabling and piping, and is maintained from the
front and rear doors without movement.

2.8 Performance Curves
Cooling Capacity and Water Supply
With rated power and maximum air volume, the NetCol5000-C has different performance
specifications for cooling capacity, sensitive heat, and water supply based on chilled water
temperatures and temperature rises. Table 2-4, Table 2-5, Table 2-6, Table 2-7, and Table 2-8
list the performance specifications.
