of purchase (guarantees are not transferable) subject to good use, protection from
frost and adherence to recommended service procedures. Major components are
subject to individual manufacturer’s warranty conditions. Wearing parts, including
tyres, pump seals, valves, hoses, filters, jets and tooling are excluded from warranty
cover unless subject to faulty materials or manufacture.

INTRODUCTION
The Hugh Crane (Cleaning Equip ent) Ltd range of COMMANDO® high-pressure washing
equip ent is anufactured to rigorous quality standards. The basic concept is to use quality
aterials and co ponents together with proven designs to attain the highest standards of
reliability and safe operation. This instruction anual is provided to assist the operator to
use the equip ent safely whilst obtaining the best perfor ance fro it.
The COMMANDO®
ROTOWASH is a hydraulically driven slat and tray washer designed for
use with both category 1 and 2 tractor linkages and 540 or 1000 rp drive shafts. The
hydraulic power source to run the conveyor and rotors can also be provided by ost
tractors. High-pressure water can be provided by a separate pressure washer or a tractor
PTO driven pu p.

GENERAL HEALTH & SAFETY DATA
a) Before using the COMMANDO®
ROTAWASH operators should have undergone basic
training in the safe use of the equip ent. Training courses are available fro Hugh
Crane (Cleaning Equip ent) Ltd. if required.
b) Suitable protective clothing should be provided and worn by all operators.
High-pressure jets are dangerous if subjected to misuse.
Care should be taken to ensure that ani als and children are kept well out of the
working area. The jet must not be directed at people, ani als, the achine itself,
non-waterproof, fragile ite s or electrical equip ent.
c) The user’s attention is drawn to health and safety guidance note P.M.29, which deals
with the use of high-pressure cleaners and stea cleaners. Eye protection to
BS2092/2 ust be worn when this equip ent is used.
d) All repairs to this equip ent ust be carried out by suitably qualified personnel only.
No odifications or changes to the specification of this achine should be ade
without prior consultation with and approval of the anufacturer.
e) The achine is supplied with guarding in co pliance with current legislation. The
achine ust not be operated with any of the guards, covers or any other safety
equip ent re oved or da aged.
f) Co ponents that are supplied by others e.g. gearbox and pu p, are covered by
individual anufacturer’s infor ation, which is included for your use.
g) Che icals ay be used in conjunction with this equip ent. Only che icals supplied
or reco ended by the anufacturer should be used, as other products ay effect
the safe use of the equip ent. Consideration should also be given to environ ental
and COSHH regulations.
h) Never attempt to adjust or clean any part of the machine with the power
connected or pressure washer running. Always disconnect the power and
pressure washer before carrying out any adjust ents, especially to the high-pressure
pipework or drive shaft etc.
i) The achine is fitted with torque control to stop the conveyor and rotors in the event
of a ja . If a jam occurs do not under any circumstances try to clear the jam
with power connected. Always keep well clear of conveyor and rotors and do
not insert any part of the body into moving parts.

DEPLOYING THE COMMANDO
®
ROTAWASH FOR USE
On arrival at the work site select a suitable location for the COMMANDO®
ROTAWASH.
Set the unit down in the required position.
Support the infeed conveyor and unclip the over-centre latch, lower to horizontal and when
lowered ensure the support leg is fully in position. Ensure that the plastic drive chain drops
into its guide channel and is located correctly on its sprockets.
Although the conveyors are fitted with gas struts to arrest the fall rate, be aware they
could drop so do not stand directly under them when lowering.
Support the outfeed conveyor and unclip the over-centre latch, lower to horizontal and when
lowered ensure the support leg is fully in position. Although the conveyors are fitted with

Re ove the guide rails fro the transport sockets and fit the in the appropriate conveyor
pockets, adjust the rails by loosening the grub screws in the elbows and rotate into correct
position, once in position tighten the elbow and conveyor pocket grub screws.

Connect the high-pressure water hose.
Connect to the electricity supply.
The supply must be fitted with an earth leakage device.
Check that the COMMANDO®
ROTAWASH standing fir ly and that all guards are in position.
Turn the ain isolator on and ensure all e ergency stop buttons are in the out position,
press the reset button on the control panel and all red warning lights should extinguish.
Switch the conveyor direction to forward, press the conveyor start button and ensure it is
running freely; adjust to desired speed via control dial.
press the rotor start button and ensure rotors are turning freely, adjust to desired speed via
control dial.
Press both stop buttons.
The COMMANDO®
ROTAWASH is now ready for use.

USING THE COMMANDO
®
ROTAWASH
Before starting work ensure that the achine is configured to acco odate the slats to be
washed. The width of the washing aperture can be adjusted between 60 and 100 .
If the slats are less than 20 thick the conveyor guide rails ust also be adjusted to
ensure the slat cannot ja between the chain and the chain guide. Be careful not to obstruct
the chain pusher links.

Start the high-pressure pu p.
Press the conveyor start button.
Press the rotor start button.
Open the high-pressure valve to start the water sprays.
Place a slat onto the infeed conveyor between the guides. The conveyor chain will pick up
the slat and carry it into the washing area where it will be subjected to rotary sprays fro
both sides. Addition sprays wash the lower edge of the slat.
When slats e erge fro the washing area they are transferred to the outfeed roller
conveyor fro which they should be re oved by hand of directed to fall to a collector.
When washing is co pleted stop the rotors, conveyor and high-pressure pu p.
During work regularly check for build up of ud in the rotor covers and chain guides. If a
heavy build up is observed stop washing and clean out with high pressure spray.
IN AN EMERGENCY PRESS ANY OF THE THREE
EMERGENCY STOPS.

PREPARING THE COMMANDO
®
ROTAWASH FOR TRANSPORTING
• Stop the conveyor and rotor drives by pushing the stop buttons.
• Disconnect fro electricity supply.
• Open the high-pressure valve to ensure any trapped pressure is released.
• Disconnect high-pressure water hose.
• Disconnect the all external guide rails fro their pockets and insert in transport sockets
• Lift up the outer end of the infeed conveyor until it is vertical and against its rubber stop,
engage over centre latch and insert safety clip retain it in position. (the support leg will
swing down when conveyor is lifted so be sure hands are not in the way.
• Lift up the outer end of the outfeed conveyor until it is vertical and against its rubber stop,
engage over centre latch and insert safety clip retain it in position. (the support leg will

• Lift up the outer end of the outfeed conveyor until it is vertical. Holding it in this position
locate the pin on the end of the transit tie into the lug on the ain casing. Insert the ‘R’
clip to retain it in position.
• The COMMANDO®
ROTAWASH can now be lifted fro the back by a forklift capable of the
load or if a “Teleporter” is available it can be lifted fro the pockets either end.
