OVERVIEW
The Ethernet Switch a ows you to share sonar and navigation data from up to five Humminbird®
contro heads.
NOTE: This accessory can only be used with Humminbird control heads that have Ethernet
capability. Contact Customer Service at hu inbird.co or call 1-800-633-1468 for more
information.
PREPARATION
Fo owing are instructions for the insta ation of this accessory. Before you start insta ation, we
encourage you to read these instructions carefu y in order to get the fu benefit from your
Humminbird accessory.
Supplies: In addition to the hardware supp ied with your insta ation kit, you wi need a powered hand
dri ,
a 9/64" dri bit,
a Phi ips screwdriver, a eve , a penci , and optiona -purchase Humminbird Ethernet
cab es.

INSTALLATION
1|Determining the Mounting Location
The Ethernet Switch is designed to mount on any flat, eve surface of your boat. Prior to insta ation,
you must first determine where to mount the Ethernet Switch.
1. Use a eve to ocate a suitab e, flat area to mount the Ethernet Switch.
2. P ace the Ethernet Switch in the desired mounting ocation and test the ength of the Ethernet
cab es (separate purchase required) to ensure that each cab e wi reach the Ethernet Switch.
2|Installing the Ethernet Switch
Once you have determined the mounting ocation, perform the fo owing procedures to insta the
Ethernet Switch on your boat.
1. Set the Ethernet Switch in p ace on the mounting surface. Mark the two mounting screw
ocations with a penci .
2. Set the Ethernet Switch aside, and dri the two mounting ho es using a 9/64” dri bit.
NOTE: On fiber lass hulls, it is best to use pro ressively lar er drill bits to reduce the
chance of chippin or flakin the outer coatin .

NOTE: If the mountin surface is thin or made of a li htwei ht material, you may need to add
reinforcin material below the mountin surface in order to support the Ethernet Switch.
3. P ace the Ethernet Switch on the mounting surface and a ign the screw ho es with the dri ed
mounting ho es. Insert the two #8 screws (inc uded) through the screw ho es and into the
dri ed mounting ho es, and hand-tighten using a Phi ips screwdriver. Hand-ti hten only!
NOTE: Apply marine- rade silicone caulk or sealant (separate purchase required) to both
screws and drilled holes as needed to protect your boat from water dama e.
3|Connecting the Ethernet Cables
Up to five Ethernet cab es (separate purchase required) can be connected to the Ethernet Switch at
one time. There is no specific order in which the cab es have to be connected. Refer to your Ethernet
Networking manua and contro head insta ation guide for the correct procedure for connecting the
cab es to the contro head.
CAUTION! Do NOT mount the cables where the connectors could be submer ed in water or
flooded. If cables are installed in a splash-prone area, it may be helpful to apply dielectric
rease to the inside of the connectors to prevent corrosion. Dielectric rease can be
purchased separately from a eneral hardware or automotive store.
1. Confirm that the Ethernet cab e is connected to the contro head.
2. Unscrew an Ethernet port cover from the Ethernet Switch. P ug the end of the Ethernet cab e
into the port.
3. Hand-tighten the screw nut to secure the cab e connection.
NOTE: The connector ports are keyed to prevent reversed installation, so be careful not to
force the connector into the port.
NOTE: Make sure the port covers are ti htly fastened over any unused connector ports.
Connectors that are left exposed may corrode.
4|Connecting the Power Cable
The Ethernet Switch power cab e (inc uded) can be connected to the e ectrica system of the boat at
two ocations: a fuse pane (usua y ocated near the conso e) or direct y to the battery.
CAUTION! Make sure that the power cable is disconnected from the Ethernet Switch at the
be innin of this procedure.
NOTE: Humminbird is not responsible for over-volta e or over-current failures. The Ethernet
Switch must have adequate protection throu h the proper selection and installation of a
3 amp fuse (separate purchase required).
1a. If a fuse termina is avai ab e, use crimp-on type e ectrica connectors (not inc uded) that
match the termina on the fuse pane . Depending on your contro head mode , attach the b ack
wire to ground (-) and the red wire to positive (+) 12 VDC power. Insta a 3 amp fuse (not
inc uded) for the protection of the accessory. Humminbird is not responsib e for over-vo tage
or over-current fai ures.

1b. If you need to wire the power cab e direct y to a battery, obtain and insta an in ine fuse ho der
and a 3 amp fuse (not inc uded) for the protection of the accessory. Attach the b ack wire to
ground (-) and the red wire to positive (+). Humminbird is not responsib e for over-vo tage or
over-current fai ures.
2. Connect the end of the power cab e to the port abe ed POWER on the Ethernet Switch. The
ports are keyed to prevent reversed insta ation, so be carefu not to force the connector into
the connector port.
3. Hand-tighten the screw nut to secure the cab e connection.

MAINTENANCE
If your boat remains in the water for ong periods of time, a gae and
other marine growth can reduce the effectiveness of the transducer.
Periodica y c ean the face of the transducer with a mi d, marine-safe
and p astic-safe soap or so ution.
If your boat remains out of the water for a ong period of time, it may
take some time to wet the transducer after it is returned to the water.
Sma air bubb es can c ing to the surface of the transducer and
interfere with proper operation. These bubb es wi dissipate with
time, or you may wipe the face of the transducer with your fingers
after the transducer is in the water.
1-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
We warrant the origina retai purchaser that products made by
Humminbird have been manufactured free from defects in materia s
and workmanship. This warranty is effective for one year from the
date of origina retai purchase. Humminbird products found to be
defective and covered by this warranty wi be repaired or rep aced
free of charge at Humminbird’s option and returned to the customer
freight prepaid. Humminbird’s so e responsibi ity under this warranty
is imited to the repair or rep acement of a product that has been
deemed defective by Humminbird. Humminbird is not responsib e for
charges connected with the remova of such product or reinsta ation
of rep aced or repaired parts; or shipping charges to the factory or
authorized service center (if outside the U.S.).
This warranty does not app y to a product that has been:
•Improper y insta ed;
•Used in an insta ation other than that recom mended in the
product insta ation and operation instructions;
•Damaged or has fai ed because of an accident or abnorma
operation;
•Repaired or modified by entities other than Humminbird.
P ease retain your origina receipt as a proof of the purchase date.
This wi be required for in-warranty service.
THIS WARRANTY IS EXPRESSLY IN LIEU OF ANY OTHER WARRANTIES,
OBLIGATIONS OR LIABILITIES ON THE PART OF HUMMINBIRD AND WILL
BE THE CUSTOMER’S EXCLUSIVE REMEDY, EXCEPT FOR ANY
APPLICABLE IMPLIED WARRANTIES UNDER STATE LAW WHICH ARE
HEREBY LIMITED IN DURATION TO ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF
ORIGINAL PURCHASE. IN NO EVENT WILL HUMMINBIRD BE LIABLE FOR
ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES FOR BREACH OF ANY
EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY RELATING TO THE PRODUCTS.
Some states do not a ow imitations on an imp ied warranty, or the
exc usion of incidenta or consequentia damages, so the above
exc usions may not app y to you. You may a so have other rights,
which vary from state to state.
HUMMINBIRD SERVICE POLICY
Even though you' probab y never need to take advantage of our
incredib e service po icy, it's good to know that we back our products
this confident y. We do it because you deserve the best. We wi make
every effort to repair your unit within three business days from the
receipt of your unit at our factory. This does not inc ude shipping time
to and from our factory. Units received on Friday are typica y shipped
by the fo owing Wednesday, units received Monday are typica y
shipped by Thursday, etc.
A repair work is performed by factory-trained technicians to meet
exacting factory specifications. Factory-serviced units go through
the same rigorous testing and qua ity contro inspections as new
production units.
After the origina warranty period, a standard flat rate service charge
wi be assessed for each repair (physica damage and missing parts
are not inc uded). Any repairs made after the origina warranty wi
be warranted for an additiona 90 days after service has been
performed by our factory technicians. You can contact Customer

RETURNING YOUR UNIT FOR SERVICE
Before sending your unit in for repair, p ease contact the factory,
either by phone or by emai , to obtain a Repair Authorization Number
for your unit.
NOTE: Please do not return your Humminbird to the
store for service.
P ease have your product mode name and seria number avai ab e
before ca ing the factory. If you contact the factory by e-mai , p ease
inc ude your product mode name and seria number in the e-mai ,
and use Request for Repair Authorization Number for your e-mai
subject header. You shou d inc ude your Repair Authorization
Number in a subsequent communications about your unit.
F r IN-WARRANTY service, c mplete the f ll wing steps:
•Obtain a Repair Authorization Number from Humminbird
Customer Service.
•Tag product with your name, street address, phone number and
your assigned Repair Authorization Number.
•Inc ude a brief written description of the prob em.
•Inc ude a copy of your receipt (to show proof and date of
purchase).
•Return product freight prepaid to Humminbird, using an
insured carrier with de ivery confirmation.
