This household sewing machine is designed to comply with IEC/EN 60335-2-28 and UL1594
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using an electrical appliance, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the
following:
Read all instructions before using this household Sewing machine.
DANGER – To reduce the risk of electric shock:
• A sewing machine should never be left unattended when plugged in. Always unplug this sewing
machine from the electric outlet immediately after using and before cleaning.
WARNING – To reduce the risk of burns, fire, electric
shock, or injury to person:
• Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when this sewing machine is used by
or near children or infirm persons.
• Use this sewing machine only for its intended use as described in this manual. Use only attachments
recommended by the manufacturer as contained in this manual.
• Never operate this sewing machine if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working properly, if
it has been dropped or damaged, or dropped into water. Return the sewing machine to the nearest
authorized dealer or service center for examination, repair, electrical or mechanical adjustment.
• Never operate the sewing machine with any air openings blocked. Keep ventilation openings of the
sewing machine and foot controller free from the accumulation of lint, dust, and loose cloth.
• Keep fingers away from all moving parts. Special care is required around the sewing machine
needle.
• Always use the proper needle plate. The wrong plate can cause the needle to break.
• Do not use bent needles.
• Do not pull or push fabric while stitching. It may deflect the needle causing it to break.
• Switch the sewing machine off (“0”) when making any adjustment in the needle area, such as
threading needle, changing needle, threading bobbin, or changing presser foot, etc.
• Always unplug sewing machine from the electrical outlet when removing covers, lubricating, or when
making any other user servicing adjustments mentioned in the instruction manual.
• Never drop or insert any object into any opening.
• Do not use outdoors.
• Do not operate where aerosol (spray) products are being used or where oxygen is being
administrated.
• To disconnect, turn all controls to the off (“0”) position, then remove plug from outlet.
• Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
• Hold plug when rewinding into cord reel. Do not allow plug to whip when rewinding.
• This sewing machine is provided with double insulation. Use only identical replacement parts. See
instructions for Servicing of Double-Insulated Appliances.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
SERVICING OF DOUBLE INSULATED PRODUCTS
In a double-insulated product, two systems of insulation are provided instead of grounding. No ground
means is provided on a double-insulated product, nor should a means for grounding be added to the
product. Servicing of a double-insulated product requires extreme care and knowledge of the system, and
should be done only by qualified service personnel. Replacement parts for a double-insulated product
must be identical to those parts in the product. A double-insulated product is marked with the words
‘DOUBLE INSULATION’ or ‘DOUBLE INSULATED’.

Directions for use
These service instructions are intended to be used by service workshop personnel, or by salesmen who
carry out servicing in their own districts. They assume a thorough knowledge of the handling of precision
appliances and accessibility to service tools.
The manual is divided into four sections and covers all service operations and checks which should be
carried out when making a complete overhaul of a sewing machine.
The first section deals with the various settings which must be maintained to ensure that the machine
functions satisfactorily. The second section covers the service program in the machine. The third section
covers dismantling and mounting of the covers. The fourth section covers dismantling and mounting
instructions.
The diagrams only give indication as to where the detail or mechanism is located in the machine. For
more detailed information regarding the construction, etc., refer to the diagrams in the spare parts list.
ESD
ATTENTION!
It is of the utmost importance that precautions are being taken in order to avoid damage of the electronics
by electro static discharges ESD (=Electro Static Discharge). To avoid that these errors arise it is
important to handle loose circuit boards in a controlled way.
Always use wrist band 412 23 02-01 when servicing.

Service tools
A reasonable requirement in a domestic sewing machine is that it should able to sew all types of fabrics
used in the home. The settings made when assembling and sewing-in the machines are those most
suited to give the best results in the majority of fabrics and fabric combinations. In doing so, consideration
has been given to the requirements of different markets. This does, however, mean that when sewing
extreme fabrics, better results may be obtained in certain cases by altering the settings. It must be
pointed out that these altered settings can cause poorer results on more normal fabrics. How the different
standard ratings are set can be seen from the description under each setting instruction. The following list
of setting gauges and service tools is intended as an instruction about the special service tools needed to
servicing this machine.
1. On several different occasions the needle is used as a setting gauge.The setting ratings are adapted
to needle 90.Make sure to use an undamaged needle.
2. Gauge for setting the timing of the hook in relation to the needle.

8. The gap between the needle and the hook
The gap should be as small as possible, but max 0.10 mm - Straight stitch 2.5
mm.
6. The play of the hook gear
It is impossible to obtain an equally large play in one rotation of the cog wheel,
but it should be as small as possible at the tightest spot during the revolution.
2. Belt tension, motor belt
Move the motor unit (b) util a correct belt tension is obtained.

The belt tension shall be adjusted by re-position tensioning roller by push
it up or down until it is a firm belt tension.

4. Setting the needle in centre position
The needle should always get to the centre position, when the main switch is turned.
7. The timing of the hook in relation to the needle
When the needle is in its centre position and the needle is moving
upwards, the tip of the hook should pass behind the centre of the
needle, when the needle is 2.5 mm above its lower turning position.
3. Timing of the Feeding in relation to the needle
When is in its needle lowest point.The feed lifting rock cam (a) and
the screw (b) of feed rock cam (c) should now be parallel.
9. Setting the feed dog in relation to the needle plate
Sideways the feed dog should be symmetrically set in relation to the needle
plate slot.
10. Feed dog height
When Feed dog teeth are in its highest position they should be 0.9-1.0
mm above the needle plate.
12. The needle bar height
When the needle bar is in its lower turning position, at straight stitch.
The spacing between the surface of hook race and the top edge of
needle eye should be (4.9±0.1 mm).
11. Presser foot height and parallelism to the needle plate
When the presser foot is in its highest lifting position it shall be
approx. 4.5 mm above the needle plate.
The presser foot should be parallel to the feed dog.

5.Position of needle point to limiting plate
The needle point limiting plate is protecting the needle hits the needle plate.

13. Threading device
With a new # 70 needle the threader hook should go smoothly into the
needle eye.

The darning stitch shall look according to illustration.
Use Service mending stitch in menu 4 key.
14. Lower thread tension (thread tension of the bobbin case)
The thread tension spring of the bobbin case shall give a resistance of 17 g when
pulling the thread slowly, using normal polyester thread.
15. Upper thread tension
Set the thread tension dial to ”4”. Thread up with Polyester #60 and pull thread slowly , the
resistance should be 50g.
18. BH photo sensor position adjustment
The BH lever crank (b) and the photo sensor’s (c) blocking movement should be
set in the middle.
19. Adjustment of bobbin winding
When winding up the lower thread onto the bobbin the machine should wind even.
20. Adjustment of bobbin winder stop
When winding up the lower thread onto the bobbin the machine should stop
when there is a min. of 1 mm between the edge of the bobbin and the thread.

1.Belt tension - drive belt
Check
The flat-toothed belt must be set so that the sewing hook has no play in its rotating direction, but it must
be possible to turn the machine easily or the timing of hook and feed motion will be changed incorrectly.
Adjustment
1. Remove the Covers
2. Loosen the screw (a) tightening the tension pulley bracket.
3. Push the tension pulley bracket lightly (350-400g) and retighten the screw (a).
4. When you have adjusted the timing belt tension, re-check the timing of the upper and lower shaft and
the timing of the hook again.

2.Motor Belt tension
Too tight or too loose motor belt tension can cause belt noise.
Too tight motor belt tension can make the machine to run slow and overload the motor.
Too loose motor belt tension may cause jumping of the belt teeth on the motor pulley.
Check
When pushing the motor belt must have flexibility of 5-6 mm when average pressure is applied on its side.
Adjustment
1.Remove all the covers.
2.Loosen the screws (A, B).
3.Move the motor
- up, the belt will become loosen;
- down, it will become more tighter.
4.Tighten the set screws.
5.Attach all the covers.

3.Timing of the Feeding in relation to the needle
Check
1. Remove all covers.
2. Turn the handwheel toward you until the needle is its lowest point.
At this time, the mark (a - very small molded line on edge) on the lower shaft timing pulley must be facing
toward you.
Adjustment
1. Loosen the screw (b) tightening the tension pulley bracket.
2. Slip out the timing belt from lower shaft timing pulley.
3. Turn the lower shaft timing pulley so that the mark faces toward you.
4. Hook the timing belt on the pulley.
5. Push the tension pulley bracket lightly (350-400g).
6. Retighten the screw (b)
7. Check the Feed timing again.
8. When you have adjusted it, check the timing of the hook again.

4.Setting the needle in centre position
Check
1. Insert a new needle size 90 universal in the machine.
2. The needle should always go its to the centre position, when the machine is turned on repeatedly.
Adjustment
1. Remove the light cover.
2. Check that the marks of center gear and zigzag cam (E) are aligned.
If OK continue.
If Not go to Check of calibration stop see below.
3. Remove the presser foot.
4. Start the Service Program With pressing the stitch width ”-”
button and Mirror button, turn on the power switch, then press
Key No 1.
5. Loosen the center screw (a).
6. Turn the adjusting screw (b) left or right until the needle falls
center position into the hole.
• When you turn the screw to the right, needle will move to the
left.
• When you turn the screw to the left, needle will move to the
right.
7. Re-tighten the screw (a) and re-check the position of needle.
Check of calibration stop
1. Remove the light cover .
2. Check that the marks of center gear and zigzag cam (E) are
aligned.
2. Start the service program.
3. ”S.1” will appear and service program will start.
In menu 1, Press Key No 2 (Step motor will move the calibration point.)
4. At this time, the gap between the projection (a) on the center gear and
the bracket should be 0 (zero)
Adjustment of Calibration stop.
1. Loosen the screw (g) on the step motor gear.
2. In menu 1, Press Key No 2 (Step motor will move the calibration point.
3. Pressing the lower side of center gear lightliy so that the gap between
project (f) and bracket is 0 and tighten the screw (g).
3. Press the Key No. 3 (centre positon) and press the Key No. 2 again, check the gap is 0 (zero)

5.Position of needle point to limiting plate
The needle point limiting plate is protecting the needle hits the needle plate.
Check
Set the pattern to [Straight stitch No.1] and set the needle position to the extreme right (3.5).
1. Remove the presser foot and light cover.
2. Check the gap between the needle point limiting shaft (a) and limiting plate (b) should be 0.2-0.25mm.
Adjustment
1. Loosen the screw (c).
2. Insert the 0.2 mm gauge and slide the limiting plate (b) to the right.
3. Holding this position, tighten the screw (c).

6.Play between Hook gear and lower shaft gear
If there is too much play on the hook gear on the turning direction, it may be the cause for machine not to
sew properly and/or making excessive sewing noise. It is impossible to obtain an equally large play in one
rotation of the cog wheel, but it should be as small as possible at the tightest spot during the revolution.
Check
1.Move the cog wheel with the hand wheel and check play of the gears at 4 positions – at each 90 degree
angle.
2. At each position - rotate the hook back and forth with the finger tip to check the play.
- a play should be found in all differant positions.
- a small play (0.1- 0.3 mm) should be found on one position.
Adjustment
1. Remove free arm cover and needle plate.
2. Remove the bobbincase.
3. Loosen the three screws (A, B, C) on the lower shaft gear (D).
4. Move the lower shaft gear (A) right or left to change the axial play.
The maximum axial play of the hook should be within 0.3 mm in one position.
5. When a good play is obtained, tighten the three screws (A, B, C).
NOTE! This adjustment will affect the setting: Timing of needle and hook.

7.The timing of the hook in relation to the needle
Check
1. Set a new needle size 90 universal into the machine.
2. Choose the pattern 1. Set machine on straight stitching.
3.Remove the needle plate, bobbin case holder and the bobbin case.
4.Set the needle bar at its lowest point. Place a clamp (A) around the needle bar, slightly tighten its screw
(B).
5.Place a 2.5 mm gauge (C) between the needle bar support and clamp (A), tighten the needle clamp
screw (B) and remove the 2.5 mm gauge (C).
6.Turn the hand wheel so that the needle moves upwards and the needle
clamp stops against the needle bar support (D)
7.The tip of the hook should now be exactly behind the centre of the needle.
Adjustment
If the distance is incorrect, loosen the 2 screws (E) of lower shaft gear (D), and adjust shuttle hook to corect
timing, and tighten the screw.

8.The gap between the needle and the hook
If the needle hits against the hook, it may be the cause of needle and thread breakages. If the gap between
needle and hook is too big, it will cause to skip stitches.
Check
1.Choose the straight stitch pattern and move the needle position
to the left (-3.5). (Straight stitch on left needle postion.)
2.Insert a new needle size 90 universal in the machine.
3.Remove the bobbin case.
4.Rotate hand wheel until the tip of the hook arrives behind
the needle.
5.Check the gap by pressing a small screw driver against the
needle.
The gap should be as small as possible (0.02-0.1 mm, but
max 0.1 mm.
Adjustment
If the gap is incorrect:
1. Remove the rear enclosure.
2. Adjust the gap by turning the adjusting screw (a) with 2 mm hex. wrench.
Screw (a) is located inside of backside bracket.
• If the gap is too big, turn the screw to the left with viewing from frontward.
• If the needle is hitting the hook, turn the screw to the right with viewing from frontward.
3. Check so the needle front to back descend right into the middle of the needle hole of the needle plate.

9.Setting the feed dog in relation to the needle plate
Check
Sideways the feed dog should be symmetrically set in relation to the needle plate slot.
Adjustment
1. Remove the presser foot and holder.
2. Remove the needle plate.
3. Loosen the 2 screws (A) that holds the feed dog.
4. Adjust the feed dog so that the teeth is centered in the needle plate.
5. Retighten the screws (A).
6. Mount the needle plate and presser foot and holder.

10.Feed dog height
Check
1.Bring the feed dog to its highest position.
2.The top of the feed dog should be 0.9-1.0 mm above the needle plate.
Check with setting gauge 63-112 120 08/000.
Adjustment
1.Bring the feed dog to its highest position.
2.Remove needle plate
3.Loosen the nut (A).
4.Turn the adjusting screw (B) so that the feed dog becomes between 0,9 mm to 1.0 mm above the needle
plate.
-Turn clockwise = the feed dog will be raised.
-Turn Counter-clockwise = the feed dog will be lowered.
5.Tighten the nut (A).
6.Attach the needle plate.

11.Presser foot height and parallelism to the needle
plate
Check
When the presser foot is in its highest lifting position it shall be 6.5 mm above the needle plate and in its
down position the presser foot should be parallel to the feed dog.
Adjustment
1.Put on a presser foot.
2.Lower the feed dog.
3.Set the presser bar in its highest lifting position.
4.Loosen screw (A) for the presser bar from the front.
5.Adjust the height and direction of presser foot.
6.Tighten the screw (A).
7.Lower the presser bar and check position the presser foot so its parallel to the feed dog.
8.If incorrect parallelism. Loosen up the screw (A) and turn presser foot so its parallel to the feed dog.
