E. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1.0 PREPARATION
1.1 The Hydraulic Rams should always be transported with the Rams closed. This is
to protect the Piston Rods from being damaged.
1.2 The Rams have to be opened before you can start the operation. Make sure
both the Cylinders are fully open.
1.3 Centrally position Bottom Beam underneath the pipe to be squeezed off at the
desired squeeze off point.
1.4 Identify the pipe diameter and SDR and position pipe stops (C1, C2) on the
bottom beam. (Refer to figure 1.0)
1.5 Load one of the Hydraulic Cylinders onto the bottom beam and insert pin on
Chain into the hole in the rod ends. Lock in position with latch A1 (Refer to
Figure 1.0). You will have to open Latch A1 or A2 to do this then close when
Ram is vertical.
1.6 Load second hydraulic cylinder and lock in position with pin and latch A2.
1.7 Ensure latches (B1, B2) on Top Beam are open. Employing 2 operatives, offer
Top Beam up to the hydraulic cylinders whilst slightly tilting one cylinder through
approximately 15° from vertical position. (Refer to figure 2.0)
1.8 With an operative straddling the pipe, pull the Top Beam upwards, (parallel to
the Bottom Beam). Ensure the bottom of the Hydraulic Cylinder tube is hard up
against top of Top Beam and then secure Top Beam in position using latches
(B1, B2).
1.9 Connect the Hydraulic Hoses from the Power Unit to the Hydraulic Cylinders.
(Refer to figure 3.0)
ALWAYS ENSURE COUPLINGS ARE CLEAN BEFORE CONNECTION.
M1, M2 :Male couplings on hydraulic cylinder
F1, F2 :Female couplings on hydraulic cylinder
M3, M4 :Male couplings on power unit hose
F3, F4 :Female couplings on power unit hose
1.10 Connect either Male Coupling on Power Unit hose (M3, M4) to either
Female Coupling on Hydraulic Cylinder (F1, F2)
1.11 Connect either Female Coupling on Power Unit hose (F3, F4) to either
Male Coupling on Hydraulic Cylinder (M1, M2).
NOTE
The connections are Male/Female screw type quick release couplings. When making
coupling connections, ensure that they are fully ‘made’ (i.e. fully tightened together).
The unit is now ready for connection to the compressor.
