1 Overview
1.1Introduction
TheCOIPgatewayisabroadbandrelaygatewaynewlydevelopedbyHybertoneTechnology.
Itisanewproductforseamless connectionbetweentheCDMAnetworkandVoIPnetwork.
WhenthemobilephoneSIMcardisinstalledintheCOIP,userscanregistertheCDMA
phonetotheVoIPsoftswitchsystem.ThroughtheCOIP,userscanrealizetheuplinkand
downlinkcallsbetweentheCDMAnetworkandtheVoIPnetwork.Inaddition,theCOIP
supportsthetransparenttransmissionofthecallernumberfromthePSTNtotheVoIP.The
COIPfeaturesembeddedSIPandH.323 protocolswithflexiblesetting.Thebi-directional
passwordauthentication(call authorization)and trustlistauthentication greatlyminimizethe
riskofchargelossesand theflexibleroutingfunction canmeetspecialrequirementsof
variouscall forwarding.Inparticular,theCOIPgatewaysupportsmulti device groups,with
flexiblesettingoflargeCDMAgatewaygroupswithdifferentchannelnumbers.Withitslow
price,excellentvoice quality,andpowerfulfeatures,theCOIPseriesgatewayisthefirst
choice forsystemintegrators, trafficoperators, and softswitchmanufacturers.

TheCOIPhas1/4 SIMcardslots, anLANport, andaPCport.
Theinstallationprocedureisasfollows:
1. OpenthebottomcoveroftheCOIPandinsertanSIMcardofthelocalCDMAnetwork;
2. ConnecttheLANportwiththeupper-layernetworkequipmentwiththeEthernetcable;
3. PCportsupportsnetworksharing,soconnectthePCporttothecomputerorlower-layer
switch(HUBorrouter);
4. Connecttheoutputterminalofthetransformerwiththepowerport.

Beforesettingthepage,youneedtohavetheIPaddressofthePCportofthegatewayfirst.
Connectthecomputerforsetting thegatewaytothePCportoftheCOIP.TheCOIPgateway
hasabuilt-inpageserverthatisusedtoacceptorobtaintheHTTP.Youcansettherelated
functionsfortheCOIPthroughtheInternetExplorer.

and settheIPofthecomputertodynamicIPorfixedIPas192.168.8.xxx and thedefault
gatewayas192.168.8.1.
OpentheInternetExplorerand enter192.168.8.1or http://192.168.8.1 intheaddress bar,then,
theloginpageispoppedupforpasswordinput.Entertheloginaccount( admin”asdefault)
intheUserName, andpassword( admin”asdefault)inthePasswordfield.
Click OK”button andthegatewaystatuspageisdisplayedasdefault.

ItdisplaysthecurrentversionofsoftwareusedbytheCOIP.Whenyouwanttoupgradethe
software,makesuretheupdateversionisnewerthanthecurrentversion.
C. HardwareVersion
Itdisplaysthecurrenthardwareversionofthegateway.
D. LineRegister Status
Itdisplaystheloginstatusoftheline.WhenthelinehasloggedintotheSIPserverorH.323
Gatekeeper, LOGINisdisplayed,otherwise,LOGOUTisdisplayed.

Itdisplaystheusestatusoftheline.Whenthelineisinuse,thestatusisACTIVE,whenthe

3.3.2TimeZoneandTimeServer
Thisitemdisplaystheadjustedtimeaccordingtotheselectedtimezone.Thegatewayreceive
timeanddateinformationfromtheserverthroughtheNetworkTimeProtocolandthetime
difference will beautomaticallyadjusted.Forexample,thepacificstandardtime(PST)is
GMT-8 and thepacificdaylighttime(PDT)isGMT-7.
Thetimezoneindicatesthezonewherethegatewayisused.Youneedtoenterthecorrect
timezone,sothatthetimeofthecallerIDand charginginformationcanbedisplayed
correctly.Thetimeserveristheaddress oftheserverthatobtainsthenetworktimethrough
theInternet. Thedefault timeserveristimekeeper.isi.edu.
3.3.3DTMFMinimum DetectionInterval
ThisparameterisusedtosettheminimumintervaloftwoDTMFsignals.Packetsmaybelost
duringthedatatransmission overtheCDMA.Asaresult,aDTMFmaybeincorrectly
identifiedastwoormultipleidenticalDTMFswhendetectedbytheCOIP.Theproblemof
repeatedcodecanbesolvedeffectivelythroughthemodificationoftheparameter.

Thisparametervaluerangesfrom60msto120msandthedefaultvalueis80ms.Whenthe
valueofthisparameterisincreasedproperly,therepeatedDTMFcanbeavoidedefficiently.
However, thepacketloss mayalsobecaused.
3.3.4AutomaticSetting
If theserviceproviderprovidestheautomaticsetting,youcanselect Enable”tostartthe
automaticsetting featureandentertheaddress oftheserver.Iftheserviceproviderdoesnot
providetheautomaticsetting,youneedtoselect Disable”tospeedupthestartuptimeofthe
COIP.
Itisaspecialserver, whichneedsthesupportofthespecificsystem.
3.3.5SettingoftheRemoteControl
Press *20# ontheterminaltoinitiatetherequesttorealizetheremotemanagementof
equipment.Theremotecontrolserverisprovidedbytheserviceprovider.Thedefaultportis
1920 and theterminalisidentifiedbytheSN.Theremotecontrolpasswordisidenticalwith
thatoftheserverand issetasdefault.
Inthefollowingfigure,theremotecontrolserverissetas202.155.200.154. Theterminaluser
presses*20# and alongtoneisheard,whichindicatesthattheinstructionhasbeen
successfullysent.Theremoteadministratoraccess http://202.155.200.154:8086 and themodel
and SNofthegatewayaredisplayed. ClickthegatewaySNtosettheremotegateway.

3.3.6CDMAGroupMode
UserscanestablishaCDMAgroup containingmultipleCOIPgateways.Underthismode,the
administratoronlyneedstoprovideaCDMAnumbertotheusertocall intheVoIPsystem.
EachCOIPcanoperateinanyofthefollowingmodes:
Prohibit: ThismodeisusedwhentheCOIPoperatesindependently.
Serveastheserver: WhenCOIPoperatesinthismode,theadministratoronlyneedstoprovide
theuserwithaCDMAnumberoftheCOIPasauniqueaccess numberto
theCOIPgroup.InoneCOIPgroup,only oneCOIPgatewaycanbeusedas
theserver.WhentheCOIPservesastheserver,theCDMAunconditional

call forwardingorbusycallforwardingcanbeactivated.Theunconditional
call forwarding isusedtoforwardall incomingcallstootherclientsofthe
group.Thebusycall forwardingisusedtoforwardincomingcallstoother
clientsofthegroup whenthestatusoftheSIMcardoftheserveris
ACTIVE.
Serveastheclient: WhenCOIPoperatesinthismode,it will senditsreal-timestatustothe
serveroftheCOIPgroup,sothattheCOIPservercandeploythecall
forwarding.

CDMAnumber:ItisthetelephonenumberoftheCDMASIMcardusedbytheCOIP.
3.3.6AnonymityoftheCDMACallerNumber
Thecallernumbercanbehidden, butthisneedsthesupportoftheCDMAoperator.
3.3.7IMEI
TheIMEI(InternationalMobileEquipmentIdentity)isanelectricserialnumbercontaining

3.3.8SMSSendtoClient
TheSMSserversendstherequesttothemobilephoneviatheCOIP,orthemobilephone
sendstherequesttotheSMSServerviaCOIP.
SMSserver address:ThisisforfillingtheIPoftheSMSserver.Pleasemakesurethatserver
isinstalledwiththeCOIPSMSmanagementserversoftwareindependentlydevelopedby
HybertoneTechnology(ThesoftwarecanbedownloadedfromtheHybertonewebsiteor
obtainedfromourtechnicalpersonnel).
SMSserverport:ItistheSMSportoftheSMSserver. Thedefault valueis44444. Itmustbe
consistentwiththatoftheserverifmodifiedontheserver.
AuthenticationID:ItistheuserID. MakesurethattheserverhascorrespondingID.
Authenticationpassword:Itisforfillingtheuserpassword.
Note:TheSMSsendclientoftheCOIP_4 isinthecallsetoptions, whichneedsthesupportoftheCOIPSMS
managementserverdevelopedbyHybertone.

TheCOIPgatewayrestartsatleastonceatthespecifiedtimeeverydaytoclearthebufferof
theCOIP, sothattheCOIPcanoperatenormally.
3.3.9ChinaAreaCodeMatching
TheCOIPcanmatchall areacodesofChinatoensurethepromptdial.Thedefaultstatusis
Disable.
3.3.10 IVR
Bydefault,theIVRisenabled.Whenacall comesin,thesystempromptstheusertodiala
second time.WhentheIVRisdisabled,thesystemwill notprompttheusertodialasecond
time.
