For Windows 2000 users please upgrade to
SP3 or SP4. For Windows XP users XP SP2
and below installations please make sure you
have 2 available drive letters between the
last physical drive on your PC and the first
network drive, this is to avoid possible drive
letter assignment problems.
Installing The Device
Insert the device into your PC, the drive
should be detected and installed by the
operating system. No drivers are required
for Windows 2000, Windows XP or
Windows Vista.
The installation bubbles should show the
progress of Windows installing your device
at the bottom right of the screen.
Once the bubble says the hardware is in-
stalled and ready for use you should be able
to see two new drive letters visible in
‘My Computer’, one is the CDROM section
of the drive and on is the storage area.
You will not be able to access the stor-
age area until the drive is unlocked. The
CDROM section is capable of the autorun

FAQ
Q: I have forgotten my password, can I get my data back?
A: No, without a valid password you will be forced to reset the device, erasing all the data.
Q: When I click on the removable disk in Explorer it says ‘Please Insert Disk’ ?
A: The device may be locked, check the drive status using the lock tool.
Q: When I plug in the drive nothing happens and the light does not flash?
A: The device may be faulty, please contact support for a replacement.
Q: The lock tool works in an Administrator account but does it work in a User account?
A: Yes, the drive works in a user account.
Q: When I run the Security Tool it tells me to insert the device?
A: Please check that you can see both the CDROM section and the removable disk section of the
device in My Computer. It is possible the removable disk section has the same drive letter as a
network drive causing a failure. This may happen on Windows XP SP2 (This Issue was fixed
in Win XP SP3 and with a Microsoft hotfix for SP2). To Resolve this use the disk management
snap in to change the allocated drive letter to an available drive letter.
Q: I run the security tool in a USER account but after a delay is tells me to insert the device. I
have checked and I can see both sections of the device.
A: It may be that the system registry has been restricted for USERS and the required keys are
not accessible to the lock tool. Please contact support for more information and a list of the keys
involved.
