Introduction
Purpose
This Field Service Bulletin describes the procedure for replacing the power switch on a Powermax65 or Powermax85.
Materials and tools
• Assorted Phillips®and TORX®screwdrivers
• Small knife or blade screwdriver
WARNING

Disconnect electrical power before performing any maintenance. See the

precautions.
Caution: Static electricity can damage circuit boards.
• Use proper precautions when handling printed circuit boards.
– Store PC boards in anti-static containers.
– Wear a grounded wrist strap when handling PC boards.

Remove the power supply cover and Mylar®barrier
1. Turn OFF the power, disconnect the power cord, and disconnect the gas supply.
2. Remove the 8 small screws (2) from the power supply cover.
3. Remove the 8 large screws (1) from the power supply cover.
4. Lift the cover (3) off the power supply.

5. Remove the Mylar barrier from the power board side of the power supply. The Mylar barrier is flexible and can be
bent slightly for removal.
6. Remove the metal end panel bracket located on top of the center panel by pulling it straight up.

Loosen the old power switch
1. Remove the handle screw that secures the power switch handle to the post.
2. Pull the power switch handle straight off the post and set aside.
3. If the optional RS485 connector is not installed, the label extends to the right side of the gas connector. (Refer to
the bottom figure below.) In this case, remove the top gas connector screw.
4. Use a knife or blade screwdriver to pry up the edge of the label.
5. Peel off the entire label to expose the four mounting screws that secure the power switch.
6. Remove the four power switch mounting screws.
The power switch is disengaged from the rear panel and may be removed from inside the power supply.

Remove the old power switch (CE model)
1. On the fan side of the power supply, disconnect the gas supply tube from the air filter. Pull back the orange ring on
the push-to-connect tube connector and pull the tube out of the connector. Disconnecting the tube allows the rear
panel to move farther away from the power supply.
2. Carefully pull the top of the rear panel away from the power supply.
3. Slide the power switch out of the power supply. You will need to maneuver the power switch around the right edge
of the power board. Be sure not to damage any components.
4. Remove the power wires from the top and bottom of the old power switch.
5. Discard the old power switch.

Remove the old power switch (CSA model)
1. On the fan side of the power supply, disconnect the gas supply tube from the air filter. Pull back the orange ring on
the push-to-connect tube connector and pull the tube out of the connector. Disconnecting the tube allows the rear
panel to move farther away from the power supply.
2. Carefully pull the top of the rear panel away from the power supply.
3. Slide the power switch out of the power supply. You will need to maneuver the power switch around the right edge
of the power board. Be sure not to damage any components.
4. Remove the power wires from the top and bottom of the old power switch.
5. Remove the wires from the auxiliary switch on top of the old power switch.
6. Discard the old power switch.

Install the new power switch (CE model)
1. Connect the power wires to the top of the new power switch. Connect the wires to the proper terminals in the same
order as you removed them. Tighten the screws to 20 in-lbs (23 kg cm). Refer to the figures below.
2. Connect the power wires to the bottom of the new power switch. Connect the wires to the proper terminals in the
same order as you removed them. Connect the short wire to T1, the medium wire to T2, and the long wire to T3
Tighten the screws to 20 in-lbs (23 kg cm).
3. Carefully pull the top of the rear panel away from the power supply.
4. Slide the power switch into the power supply. You will need to maneuver the power switch around the right edge of
the power board. Be sure not to damage any components.
5. Push the power switch post through the hole in the rear panel.
6. On the fan side of the power supply, reconnect the gas supply tube to the air filter. Push the tube into the push-to-
connect tube connector.
7. Carefully push the rear panel against the power supply.
8. Replace the metal end panel bracket located on top of the center panel. Align the slot in the bracket with the plastic
tab on the front panel and push the pins into the holes on the end panels.

Install the new power switch (CSA model)
1. Connect the wires to the auxiliary switch on top of the new power switch. Connect the red wire to the side marked
13 and the black wire to the side marked 14. Tighten the screws to 10 in-lbs (11.5 kg cm).
2. Connect the power wires to the top of the new power switch. Connect the wires to the proper terminals in the same
order as you removed them. Tighten the screws to 20 in-lbs (23 kg cm). Refer to the figures below.
3. Connect the power wires to the bottom of the new power switch. Connect the wires to the proper terminals in
the same order as you removed them. For 1-PH, connect the short wire to T1, and the long wire to T2. For 3-PH,
connect the short wire to T1, the medium wire to T2, and the long wire to T3. Tighten the screws to 20 in-lbs (23 kg
cm).
4. Carefully pull the top of the rear panel away from the power supply.
5. Slide the power switch into the power supply. You will need to maneuver the power switch around the right edge of
the power board. Be sure not to damage any components.
6. Push the power switch post through the hole in the rear panel.
7. On the fan side of the power supply, reconnect the gas supply tube to the air filter. Push the tube into the push-to-
connect tube connector.
8. Carefully push the rear panel against the power supply.
9. Replace the metal end panel bracket located on top of the center panel. Align the slot in the bracket with the plastic
tab on the front panel and push the pins into the holes on the end panels.

Attach the power switch and label (all models)
1. Secure the new power switch to the rear panel using the four screws. Tighten the screws to 10 in-lbs (11.5 kg cm).
2. If the optional RS485 connector is not installed, the new label extends to the right side of the gas connector. In this
case:
a. Peel the backing off the new label.
b. Carefully align the holes in the label with the corresponding holes in the rear panel.
c. Press the label into place.
d. Install the top gas connector screw through the hole in the label. Tighten the screw to 15 in-lbs (17.3 kg cm).
3. If the optional RS485 connector is installed:
a. Bend the new label at the perforation and tear the label in half. Discard the right half.
b. Peel the backing off the left half of the new label.
c. Carefully align the hole in the label with the corresponding hole in the rear panel.
d. Press the label into place.
4. Push the power switch handle straight onto the post.
5. Secure the switch handle to the post using the handle screw. Tighten the screw to 10 in-lbs (11.5 kg cm).

Replace the Mylar barrier
1. Carefully push in the sides (1) of the Mylar barrier so that the barrier bends out slightly at the top and bottom (2).
2. Slide the sides of the Mylar barrier behind the power supply frame (3). Be careful not to damage wires or
accidentally disconnect wires from the connectors.
3. Gently bend the top of the barrier at the perforation so that the top bends over the top of the power supply.
4. Slide the barrier down so that the bottom edge fits inside the power supply frame (4).

Replace the power supply cover
1. Place the cover (3) over the power supply with the slot in the cover (4) over the plastic tab in the front panel. The
slot and tab ensure that the vent in the side of the cover is over the fan. Be careful not to pinch any wires.
2. Install the 8 small screws (2) into the power supply cover. Tighten the screws to 15 in-lbs (17.3 kg cm).
3. Install the 8 large screws (1) into the power supply cover. Tighten the screws to 15 in-lbs (17.3 kg cm).

Introduction
Objet
Ce bulletin de service sur le terrain décrit les procédures pour le remplacement de l’interrupteur d’alimentation des
Powermax65 et Powermax85.
Matériel et outils requis
• Tournevis Phillips®et TORX®divers
• Petit couteau ou tournevis plat
AVERTISSEMENT

Débrancher l’alimentation électrique avant tout entretien. Se reporter au
Manuel de sécurité et de conformité compris avec votre système pour
d’autres mesures de sécurité.
Attention: L’électricité statique peut endommager les cartes de circuits imprimés.
• Les précautions qui s’imposent doivent être respectées lors
de la manipulation des cartes de circuits imprimés.
– Les cartes de circuits imprimés doivent être stockées dans
des contenants antistatiques.
– L’utilisateur doit porter un bracelet antistatique lors de la manipulation
des cartes de circuits imprimés.

Retrait du couvercle de la source de courant et de la barrière Mylar®
1. Couper l’alimentation (OFF), débrancher le cordon d’alimentation et débrancher l’alimentation en gaz.
2. Déposer les huitpetites vis (2) du couvercle de la source de courant.
3. Déposer les huitgrandes vis (1) du couvercle de la source de courant.
4. Retirer le couvercle (3) de la source de courant.

5. Retirer la barrière Mylar du côté du panneau d'alimentation de la source de courant. Cette barrière est flexible et
peut être pliée légèrement pour être enlevée.
6. Retirer le support métallique du panneau d'extrémité situé sur le dessus du panneau central en le tirant droit vers
le haut.

Désserrage de l’ancien interrupteur d’alimentation
1. Déposer la vis de la poignée qui fixe la poignée de l’interrupteur au montant.
2. Tirer droit sur la poignée de l’interrupteur d’alimentation pour la dégager du montant et la mettre de côté.
3. Si le connecteur facultatif RS485 n'est pas installé, la nouvelle étiquette s’étend jusqu’à la droite du connecteur
de gaz. (Se reporter à la figure du bas ci-dessous.) Dans ce cas, déposer la vis du haut du connecteur de gaz.
4. Utiliser un couteau ou un tournevis plat pour faire détacher le bord de l’étiquette.
5. Décoller la totalité de l’étiquette pour exposer les quatrevis de montage qui fixent l’interrupteur d’alimentation.
6. Retirer les quatrevis de montage de l’interrupteur.
L’interrupteur d’alimentation est maintenant dégagé du panneau arrière et peut être retiré de l’intérieur de la source
de courant.

Retrait de l’ancien interrupteur d’alimentation (modèle CE)
1. Du côté ventilateur de la source de courant, déconnecter le tuyau d’alimentation en gaz du filtre à air. Tirer la bague
orange sur le connecteur de tuyau instantané et tirer le tuyau hors du connecteur. Déconnecter le tuyau permet au
panneau arrière de s’écarter plus de la source de courant.
2. Tirer délicatement le haut du panneau arrière de la source de courant.
3. Dégager l’interrupteur d’alimentation de la source de courant. Vous devrez manoeuvrer l’interrupteur autour de
l'extrémité droite du circuit imprimé d'alimentation. Assurez-vous de n'endommager aucun composant.
4. Retirer les fils d’alimentation du dessus et du dessous de l’ancien interrupteur d’alimentation.
5. Jeter l’ancien interrupteur d’alimentation.

Retrait de l’ancien interrupteur d’alimentation (modèle CSA)

6. Jeter l’ancien interrupteur d’alimentation.
