WhatAboutGasohol?
Gasohol(amixtureof90%unleadedgasoline
and10%ethanolorgrainalcohol)maybeused
inyourHyundai.However,ifyourenginedevel-
opsdriveabilityproblems,theuseof100%
unleadedgasolineisrecommended.
Fuelswithunspecifiedquantitiesofalcohol,or
alcoholsotherthanethanol,shouldnotbeused.

DonotUseMethanol
Fuelscontainingmethanol(woodalcohol)should
notbeusedinyourHyundai.Thistypeoffuel
canreducevehicleperformanceanddamage
componentsofthefuelsystem.
CAUTION:
YourHyundai'sNewVehicleLimitedWar-
rantymaynotcoverdamagetothefuel
systemandperformanceproblemsthatare
causedbytheuseofmethanolorfuels
containingmethanol.
Unleadedgasolinewitha PumpOctaneRating
of87(ResearchOctaneNumber91)orhigher
mustbeusedinHyundaivehicle.Ifleaded
gasolineisused,itwillcausethecatalytic
convertertobecomeineffectiveandtheemis-
sioncontrolsystemtomalfunction.
Thiscanalsoresultinincreasedmaintenance
expense.Toavoidaccidentaluseofleaded
fuel,thelargenozzleusedwithleadedgasoline
atservicestationscannotbeinsertedintofuel
tankopeningofHyundaivehicle.

GasolinesforCleanerAir
Tohelpcontributetocleanerair,Hyundairec-
ommendsthatyouusegasolinestreatedwith
detergentadditives,whichhelppreventdeposit
formationintheengine.Thesegasolineswill
helptheengineruncleanerandtheEmission
ControlSystemperformance.

Noformal"break-in"procedureisrequiredwith
yournewHyundai.However,youcancontrib-
utetotheeconomicaloperationanddurabilityof
yourHyundaibyobservingthefollowingrecom-
mendationsduringthefirst2,000km(1,200
miles).
oDon'tdrivefasterthan88km/h(55mph).
oWhiledriving,keepyourenginespeed(rpm,
orrevolutionsperminute)between2000
and4000rpm.

KEYS

Keys
Forgreaterconvenience,thesamekeyoper-
atesallthelocksinyourHyundai.However,
becausethedoorscanbelockedwithoutakey,

Acodenumberisstampedonthenumberplate
thatcamewiththekeystoyourHyundai.This
keynumberplateshouldnotbeleftwiththe
keysbutkeptinasafeplace,notinthevehicle.
Thekeynumbershouldalsoberecordedina
placewhereitcanbefoundinanemergency.
Ifyouneedadditionalkeys,orifyoushouldlose
yourkeys,yourauthorizedHyundaidealercan
makenewkeysifyoucansupplythekey
number.
Allofthelocksfittedtothevehicleareoperated
bythesamekey.However,sinceitispossible
tolockthedoorswithouttheuseofthekey,
careshouldbeexercisedtoensurethatthekey
doesnotbecomelockedinsidethevehicleby
mistake.
NOTE:
Ifyoumakeyourowndupllcatekey,youwlll
notbeabletocancelthesystemorstartthe
engine.

twicefor"2",andsoon.However,forthe
digitnumber"0",youmusttumtheignition
keyfor10times.
2.Waitfor3~10seconds.
3.Youmaysettheremainingnumberofdigits
byfollowingthesameprocedures1 and2.
4.Ifalloffourdigitshavebeentriedsuccess-
fully,tumtheignitionkey"ON"andcheck
thattheimmobilizerindicatorilluminates.
Fromthisttme,youhavetostartyourengine
within30seconds.Ifyoustartyourengine
after30seconds,yourenginewillnotstart.
NOTE:
Iftheenginedieswhlledrivlngafterlimp
homeprocedure,youcanstartyourengine
within8secondswithoutlimphomeproce-
dureagain.
5.Iftheimmobilizerindicatorblinksforfive
seconds,youhavetotrythelimphome
procedureagainfromthebeginning.
Afterdoingthelimphomeprocedure,youhave
toconsultwithyourauthorizedHyundaidealer
assoonaspossible.
CAUTION:
oIfyoufailtotrythelimphomeprocedure
wlththesequenceofthreetlmes,you
havetowaitforaboutonehourtodothe
limphomeprocedureagain.
oIfyoucannotstartyourengineinspiteof
limphomeprocedure,haveyourvehicle
towedbyanauthorizedHyundaidealer.

Thevehiclekeynumberisrecordedupona
metaltagattachedtothekeyswhenthevehicle
isfirstdeliveredtoyou.
Thekeynumbershouldberecordedandkept
inasafeplaceincasetheneedtoorderfurther
keysarises.Newkeysareavailablefromany
Hyundaidealerbyquotingthereievantkey
number.
Intheinterestofsecurity,themetaltagat-
tachedtothekeyswhichbearsthekeynumber
shouldberemovedfromthekeyringafteryou
receiveyournewvehicle.Inaddition,keynum-
berscannotbeprovidedbyHyundaiforsecu-
rityreasons.
Ifyouneedadditionalkeysorifyoushouldlose
yourkeys,yourauthorizedHyundaidealercan
makenewkeys.
Incasetheimmobilizerwamingindicatorblinks
forfivesecondswhentheignitionkeyistumed
to"ON"position,thisindicatesthattheimmobi-
lizersystemisoutoforder.Andyoucannot
starttheenginewithoutthelimphomeproce-
dureswithignitionkey.
Thefollowingprocedureishowtostartthe
enginewiththefunctionofthelimphome.(0,1,
2,3asa samplepassword).
NOTE:
Youcangetthelimphomepasswordwhen
thevehicleisfirstdeliveredtoyou.Ifyoudo
nothavethepassword,consultyourautho-
rizedHyundaidealer.
1.Tosetthepasswordyoumaytumtheigni-
tionkey"ON"andthentumit"OFF"accord-
ingtothedigitnumbers,thentheimmobi-
lizerindicatorwillblinkalongwiththeopera-
tionoftheignitionkey.Forexample,tumthe

Thissystemisdesignedtoprovideprotection
fromunauthorizedentryintothecar.Thissys-
temisoperatedinthreestages:thefirstisthe
"Armed"stage,thesecondisthe"Alamn"stage,
andthethirdisthe"Disarmed"stage.Iftrig-
gered,thesystemprovidesanaudiblealarm
sirenwithblinkingofthetumsignallamp.

Parkthecarandstoptheengine.Armthe
systemasdescribedbelow.
1)Removetheignitionkeyfromtheignition
switch.
2)Makesurethattheenginehoodandtrunklid
arelocked.
3)Lockthedoorsusingthetransmitterofthe
keylessentrysystem.
Aftercompletionofthestepsabove,thetum
signallampwillblinkoncetoindicatethatthe
systemisarmed.
NOTE:
1)Ifanydoor,trunklidorenginehood
remainsopen,thesystemwillnotbe
armed.
2)Ifthishappens,rearmthesystemas

ignition key.

only/ExceptE.C: 3 times).Totumoffthe
system,unlockthedoorwiththetransmitteror
theignitionkey.
CAUTION:
Avoidtrylngtostarttheenginewhilethe

Toengagethechild-protectorfeaturesothat
thedoorcannotbeopenedfromtheinside,
movethechild-protectorlevertothe"LOCK"
positionandclosethedoor.Movetheleverto
theoppositedirectionof"LOCK"positionwhen
normaldooroperationisdesired.
Ifyouwishtobeabletoopenthedoorfromthe
outside,theoutsidedoorhandlewillfunction
normally.

reducedsignificantlywhentheseatbackis

ofneckinjuries.
Toraisetheheadrest,pullitup.Tolowerit,
pushitdownwhilepressingthelockknob.
WARNING:
oFormaximumeffectlvenesslncaseofan

samehelghtasthetopoftheoccupanfs
ears.Theuseofa cushlonthatholdsthe

Toadjustthelumbersupport,turnthehandle
ontheinboardsideoftheseat.Toincreasethe
amountoflumbarsupport,pulltheleverfor-
ward.Todecreaseit,pushthelevertowardthe
rear.

Theseatwarmerisprovidedtowarmthefront
seatsduringcoldweather.Withtheignitionkey
inthe"ON"position,pusheitheroftheswitches
ontherearconsoletowarmthedriver'sseator
thepassenger'sseat.
Duringmildweatherorunderconditionswhere
theoperationoftheseatwarmerisnotneeded,
keeptheswitchesinthe"OFF"position.
Thefrontpassengerseatbackshouldbetilted
toentertherearseat.
Bypullinguponthereclinercontrollever(1)at
theoutsideofthefrontpassengerseat,the
seatbackwilltiltforwardandtheseatwillauto-
maticallyslideforward.
Rearseatoccupantscantiltthefrontpassen-
gerseatbackbydepressingthefootlever(2)as
shownintheillustration.
WARNING:
PassengersslttlngIntherearseatshould
becarefulnottoaccidentallypressthefoot
lever(2)whllethevehicleIsmovlng,asthls
maycausetheseatbacktomoveforward
andInjurea frontseatoccupant.

Toraiseorlowerthewindow,turnthewindow
regulatorhandleclockwiseorcounter-clock-
wi'se.
WARNING:
Whenopeningorcloslngthewlndows,make
sureyourpassenger'sarms,handsandbody
aresafelyoutoftheway.
Thepowerwindowsoperatewhentheignition
keyisinthe"ON"position.Themainswitches
arelocatedonthedriver'sarmrestandcontrol
thefrontandrearwindowsonbothsidesofthe
vehicle.Thewindowsmaybeopenedbyde-
pressingtheappropriatewindowswitchand
closedbypullinguptheswitch.Toopenthe
windowonthedriver'sside,presstheswitch(1)
down.Thewindowmovesaslongastheswitch
isoperated.Inordertopreventoperat'onofthe
windows,a windowlockswitch(2)isprovided
