Connect one (1) Ikelite Substrobe to Nikonos IV, V, RS, or
suit ble FILM c mer housing th t utilizes the Nikonos fl sh socket
for extern l strobe connection. Different model Substrobes c n be
combined. The strobes will fire in TTL utom tic or m nu l
exposure modes using the
Nikonos V or RS. Strobes will
only work in the m nu l mode
with the Nikonos IV or c mer
housings.

Over the ye rs v rious housing m nuf cturers h ve introduced
v riety of "Nikonos-style" bulkhe ds with v ri tions on the origin l
cont ct design. The plug end on this TTL Ad pter h s been
designed to prevent d m ge by some Europe n housings with rigid
cont cts in pl ce of the tr dition l spring-lo ded style.
This design m y exhibit intermittency with some more tr dition l
Nikonos-style bulkhe ds. Two gold pl ted pins h ve been provided
to elimin te this intermittency. These pins should only be used in
conjunction with bulkhe ds fe turing two spring-lo ded cont cts.
To see if your housing h s spring-lo ded cont cts, use n
open-ended p per clip to gently push down on the cont cts shown
in Di gr m A - p ge 4. Very little pressure is needed to check the
cont cts. If the cont cts ARE spring-lo ded, proceed to the
directions on p ge 5 for inserting the included gold pl ted pins.
These pins re specific lly recommended for use with the
Nikonos-style bulkhe d fe tured on N utic m housings.
If your housing does NOT fe ture spring-lo ded cont cts, DO NOT
insert the included pins into your plug end. Doing so m y c use
d m ge to your plug nd/or bulkhe d.

underw ter or when wet. Connections re NOT w terproof when
disconnected underw ter.
DDOO NNOOTTle ve the cord connected for prolonged periods or the
cord m y freeze to the strobe, or c mer . After e ch dive,
disconnect the cord nd lightly lubric te the connector thre ds.
NEVER use spr y lubric nt. Use ONLY Ikelite lubric nt.

. M ke sure ll components re dry. Cle n nd lightly
lubric te the stem sh ft, o-ring nd ret ining ring thre ds.
Check the stem o-ring for nicks or cuts.
2. Align the Index Groove (Di gr m A - P ge 4) with the Index Post
(Di gr m B - P ge 4) in the fl sh socket, nd insert the stem into
the fl sh socket.
3. Rot te the ret ining ring counter clockwise until it m tes with
the fl sh socket thre ds. Then, c refully rot te ret ining ring
clockwise nd thre d it into the fl sh socket until snug.

1. M ke sure ll components re dry.
2. Cle n nd lightly lubric te the stem o-ring nd the strobe
connector thre ds. Check the o-ring for nicks or cuts.
3. Note the positioning of the recept cles nd pins. Properly lign
the end of the sync cord nd insert into the strobe bulkhe d.
4. H nd-tighten the Ret ining ring on the sync cord.
5. Push the connector body further into the strobe connector
nd continue to tighten the Ret ining Ring.

- If intermittent or loss of TTL oper tion occurs, insert the 2
gold pl ted pins into the Nikonos Connector End corresponding
recept cles s shown below. With the Index Groove t the bottom,
the pins should be t the 10 nd 2 o’clock positions. Once the pins
re inst lled they should not be removed.
- Connect the Ad pter to the housing bulkhe d (See p ge 2).
