Important Notices
»This cord features hard anodized aluminum
components (black in color) which are durable yet
extremely lightweight. Older strobes and housings
feature nickel plated brass components (silver in color).
When attaching this cord to a silver bulkhead, the cord
must be detached and properly cleaned after each day
of diving to prevent seizing of components.
»Do not remove the sync cord from the strobe or housing
while underwater or wet. The plug connections are not
waterproof unless attached to a compatible waterproof
bulkhead.
»Do not leave the sync cord connected for extended
periods of time. Disconnect all plug connections
routinely to prevent the components from seizing up
and becoming damaged.
»Conrm your system’s wiring when choosing a sync
cord. Mixing TTL and non-TTL components may cause
damage to the strobe or camera.
Information About Nikonos Bulkheads
This section only applies to the following sync cords
featuring a Nikonos N5 type plug:

Installing the Gold Plated Pins (Nikonos Plugs Only)
1. Check to see if your housing bulkhead has spring-loaded
contacts. Use an open ended paper clip to gently press
down on the two contacts indicated. Very little pressure is
needed.
2. If the contacts are rigid and do not move when pressed,
proceed to the next section and DO NOT insert the gold
plated pins in your sync cord plug.
3. If the contacts are spring loaded, insert one gold plated
pin in each of the indicated receptacles on your sync cord
plug end.
»The pins cannot be removed once inserted.
Installation and Use
Attaching the Sync Cord
1. Remove connector protectors and bulkhead caps from
each connection.
2. Apply a very thin, even layer of lubricant on all threads,
sealing surfaces, and the exposed portion of the plug
o-ring. Do not allow lubricant to get into the pins and
receptacles of the plug or bulkheads.

3. Align plug and insert into the housing bulkhead. Failing to
line up the contacts properly before tightening may result
in damage to the sync cord plug and/or housing bulkhead.
Ikelite plugs are oriented by the rubber pin retainer.
Nikonos and SEA&SEA/INON plugs feature an index
recess.
4. Hand-tighten the retaining ring.
5. Attach a compatible strobe(s) to the sync cord using the
same method.
Dual Strobe Use
When shooting with a dual sync cord, the strobe connected
to the end with the red band is your secondary strobe. If you
want to shoot with only one strobe, this is the strobe to turn
off.
If the primary strobe is turned off or has weak or dead
batteries, the secondary strobe may not function properly.
»Never dive with a connector protector attached to one
end of the sync cord. Cord connector protectors are not
waterproof at depth.
Maintenance and Storage
Post-Dive
1. Submerge the fully assembled system in clean, fresh
water after each use.
2. Remove the system from the rinse tank and ush with
running fresh water.
3. Dry the system with a clean, lint-free cloth.
4. Separate the components and lubricate the threads and
o-ring(s) every 2-3 days during continuous use. Separate
every day if attached to a nickel-plated brass bulkhead.
»When attaching this cord to a silver-colored nickel-
plated brass bulkhead, the cord must be detached and
properly cleaned after each day of diving to prevent
seizing of components.
Travel and Storage
1. Separate the sync cord from the strobe(s) and housing.
2. Wipe off the threads of each bulkhead and retaining ring
using a clean, lint-free cloth.
3. Lightly lubricate all o-rings, threads, and sealing surfaces.
4. Attach the connector protector(s) and waterproof
bulkhead cap(s) to all plugs and bulkheads.
Limited Warranty
This Ikelite product is warranted against any manufacturing
defects for a period of one (1) year from the original date
of purchase. To obtain warranty service, the product must
be returned to Ikelite postage paid. Ikelite will, at its sole
discretion, repair or replace such products, and will return
to customer postage paid. All other claims of any nature are
not covered. Except as mentioned above, no other warranty
expressed or implied applies to this Ikelite product.
