1 General consideraons
Isotherm marine refrigerators are specically designed to meet the specic
requirements of the marine environment in terms of performance and reliability.
Isotherm marine refrigerators are designed exclusively for recessed installaon.
The units are equipped with a waterght and leak-proof compressor that oers low
power consumpon with minimal noise. The refrigerators are easy to install. They
are capable of funconing at angles of up to 30°, or even greater for brief periods of
me.
The following points should be observed in order to ensure maximum performance:
• Frequent opening of the refrigerator door will result in greater power consumpon.
• Ensuring adequate venlaon for the compressor and condensing unit will
signicantly reduce power consumpon.
• The electrical system must be kept in good condion. Inspect the baeries and
check the charge levels regularly. Always use a separate starter baery for the motor.
Respect the indicaons provided regarding the size of the cables and fuses.
• Keep the inside of the refrigerator clean and dry. Remove the condensaon water
from the drip tray beneath the refrigerator’s freezer compartment where present.
• If the refrigerator is not expected to be used for a reasonable period of me,
disconnect its power supplies and leave the door ajar in order to ensure adequate
venlaon.
• Check for any visible damage on the refrigerator’s mechanical and electrical
components prior to use.
• Clean the inside of the refrigerator with a mild detergent and warm water prior to
use.

1.2 Safety standards
• When connecng to the land power supply, make sure it is equipped with a
grounding conductor and a circuit beaker in order to avoid the risk of serious
personal injury. Never touch any damaged or non-insulated electrical cables while
the land power supply is enabled.
• Aer installaon, check to make sure that all the unit’s live parts, as well as its
condensing unit/compressor, can only be accessed by removing the panels or
protecon systems.
• It is absolutely forbidden to tamper with or modify the unit’s refrigerant circuit and
electrical circuit. Mortal danger!
• Never dispose of the refrigerant in the environment.
• Never obstruct the refrigerator’s venlaon system.
• Do not install the refrigerator near heat sources, such as stoves, boilers, radiators
etc.
• Install the refrigerator in a dry place that’s sheltered against water spray.
• Never connect the baery charger directly to the refrigerator.
• The baery charger must be connected to the baery.
• For extended periods of disuse or when defrosng, remove the unit’s light bulb or
disconnect all of its power supplies.
• In addion to the electrolyte, a newly charged baery can also contain explosive
hydrogen gas. Danger!
• Do not store aerosols containing ammable propellants inside the refrigerator.
• Any repairs to be performed upon the refrigerator’s refrigerant circuit should be
entrusted to qualied personnel.
• The refrigerator is only suitable for the preservaon and/or storage of food items.
• The food items must be stored in their original packing or else in suitable
containers.
• Do not place live animals inside the refrigerator.

• Never open the cooling circuit for any reason.
• This appliance is not intended to be used by children, people with physical, sensory,
mental disabilies or by people with no knowledge or experience of how to use it,
who must be supervised by individuals who have read the usage instrucons and
can assume full responsibility for their safety; never allow children to play with the
appliance.
• The appliance must be protected against indirect contact in accordance with the
"Heavy Current Regulaons".

1.3 Environment
This product complies with the Direcve 2002/96/EC regarding waste electrical and
electronic equipment (WEEE).
The product’s proper disposal is essenal to prevenng negave consequences for
the environment and human health.
The symbol shown on the product, the packaging and/or the accompanying
documentaon indicates that the product should not be disposed of as household
waste. The product must be taken to an authorized collecon centre for the
recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. The product must be disposed of
in compliance with the current local environmental regulaons regarding waste
disposal.
For more informaon regarding the disposal, recycling and reuse of the product,
please contact your local authories, your local waste collecon service or the
retailer/company from whom the product was purchased.
Packaging is manufactured from recyclable material. Packaging contains
recycling symbols and must be delivered to a collecon centre-.
The Symbol indicates that the product complies with all European Union
provisions provided for its use.
2. Usage instrucons
The climate class is indicated on the data plate inside the appliance itself.
SN or extended temperate class (ambient temperature from 10°C to 32°C)
Nor temperate class (ambient temperature from 16°C to 32°C)
ST or subtropical class (ambient temperature from 18°C to 38°C)
Tor tropical class (ambient temperature from 18°C to 43°C)

2.1 Thermostat-controlled temperature regulaon
The refrigerator’s temperature is connuously regulated by the thermostat, which
also includes a power-o funcon if turned counter clockwise to the end posion.
In order to turn o the appliance, it is necessary to overcome the slight resistance of
the knob. The locaon of the thermostat knob depends on the type of refrigerator.
To adjust the temperature, proceed as follows: turn the thermostat clockwise to
lower the temperature, and vice versa.
It is recommended to keep the refrigerator at a temperature of 5-6°C. Since the
outside temperature can aect the refrigerator’s internal temperature, it can be
dicult to maintain the desired temperature when the refrigerator is exposed to
heat and/or direct sunlight.

2.2 Usage recommendaons
- If possible, the refrigerator should be turned on for about 6 hours prior to inserng
the food items.
- Posion the products inside the refrigerator in such a way so that they do not
obstruct the circulaon of air inside.
- Do not cover the shelves with plasc, paper, etc.
- In order reduce the formaon of frost inside the refrigerator, liquids should not be
stored in open containers.
- Allow hot products to cool before placing them in the refrigerator.

2.3 Standard model defrosng
Since the evaporator operates at temperatures well below freezing, ice and frost will
inevitably form upon it.
The humidity in the air, the temperature and the number of mes the door is opened
will have a signicant impact on frost formaon.
The refrigerator should always be defrosted when the layer of frost on the
evaporator reaches a thickness of 3-4 mm or more.
Turn o the refrigerator by turning the thermostat to its 0 posion.
Defrosng should be performed when the products can remain as cool as possible
outside of the refrigerator itself. Do not use sharp objects to remove ice and frost
from the evaporator, as this could damage it and result in leaks.
Only turn the refrigerator back on once it has been defrosted (not including Frost
Free models), cleaned and thoroughly dried. Remove, empty and dry the drip tray
beneath the evaporator. A towel can be placed at the base of the refrigerator during
the defrosng procedure in order to facilitate water collecon.
2.4 No-Frost model defrosng
In No-Frost models, defrosng is performed fully automacally with mes dened by
the manufacturer.
The No-Frost system is composed of a fan which forces air circulaon inside the
trunk. The humidity inside the appliance is deposited on the evaporator unit,
creang a thickness of frost that is automacally eliminated during the defrost cycle.
The condensaon caused by defrosng is conveyed outside the trunk and made to
evaporate by means of a natural heang system of the condensing unit/compressor.

2.5 Ice Maker (DR160 COMBO model only)
The ice producon kit, present on the DR160 COMBO
model only, has a producon capacity of about 8kg of
ice per day. The technology used is called "pushed."
Water is frozen into cubes in a special tray and then
is "pushed" out of the tray. The ice cubes then drop
into the collecon container.
The cube produced is white with a special half-moon
shape. See photo.
To acvate the ice maker, move the stop lever to the ON posion. (see gure).
The ice maker will begin its producon cycle and, once the ice collecon tray
is full, the stop lever will raise slightly from the
accumulaon of ice, stopping the producon cycle.
Once the ice is removed, the lever will return to the
ON posion and the producon cycle will restart.
To stop ice producon, bring the stop lever to the
OFF posion as shown in the gure.
3. Maintenance
Isotherm Drawer refrigerators are equipped with closed cooling systems, which do
not require maintenance or refrigerant rells.
The compressor is specically designed for mobile applicaons and guarantees
maximum performance and durability. In the winter, the refrigerator must be stored
inside the boat, but the compressor will not work at temperatures near or below
0°C. Seasonal maintenance is limited to the cleaning of the condensing unit behind
the refrigerator. In parcular, it is necessary to brush/vacuum out all the dust that
has accumulated due to the fan. This can be done using a so brush and a vacuum
cleaner. It is important to keep the inside of the refrigerator clean by washing it
with warm water and mild soap and by drying any water/condensaon that may be
encountered.
In order to prevent damage to the electrical/mechanical components and/or the
formaon of mould, when shung o the refrigerator for extended periods of
me it is necessary to wait for the unit to defrost completely and to eliminate any
condensaon that may have formed, both inside the appliance and in the external

water collecon tray. The natural defrosng me can vary from a few minutes to
several hours. In the winterme and when the refrigerator is shut o, the door
should be le slightly ajar for venlaon and all power disconnected.
3.1 Low voltage protecon
In order to prevent excessive baery depleon, a protecon device shuts o the
compressor in case of insucient voltage and turns it back on when the voltage in
the system increases aer the baeries have been charged.

If the bridge is removed between C and P, the values indicated in the parentheses are

4 Installaon instrucons
Many boats come equipped with a special compartment for the refrigerator.
Isotherm refrigerators have been designed and constructed exclusively for recessed
installaon and installaon that is in compliance with standard dimensions. The
refrigerator must always be in a horizontal posion, with the compressor’s rubber
feet at the boom. The compressor is capable of funconing at angles of up to 30°,
or even greater for brief periods of me. If the angle is too great, the compressor will
turn o and will restart once the lt has decreased.
Do not install the refrigerator near heat sources and avoid exposing it to direct
sunlight. Install the refrigerator in a dry place that’s sheltered against water spray. Do
not install the unit near open ames or other forms of heat.
All models (except model DR105) are equipped with a standard three-sided assembly
frame for assembling the appliance ush with the furniture.
The refrigerator must be resng upon its rubber support feet, and must be xed in
place by the standard 3-sided assembly frame.
If it is not possible to use the 3-sided assembly frame, secure the refrigerator in such
a way so that it will not p/slide forward when the drawer is opened and in the case
of rough seas.
Where the mounng ange cannot be used, the appliance should be anchored by
at least 2 fastening points, in accordance with the provisions of the EN 60335-2-24
standard.
In order to avoid the potenal risks associated with the unit’s instability, it should
always be anchored as indicated in the instrucons.
The appliance must be connected via its power cord to an electrical system with the
characteriscs indicated on the data plate.
The electrical plug must be accessible aer installaon. The appliance has been
constructed for recessed use. The electrical parts must not be accessible without
removing the refrigerator and/or the use of a tool. The walls and the ceiling of the
recessed mounng must be made with a material resistant to the needle-ame test
as provided for by EN 603335-1. They must in any case be at least 5 mm from the
walls of the refrigerator to allow for suitable venlaon and air recirculaon, or else
be more than 2 cm from the walls and more than 5 cm from the ceiling and the side
on which electrical and electronic components are posioned.
The natural upward air ow can be increased by creang venlaon openings in

appropriate locaons: one near the compressor at the base of the wall, and the
other opposite to the rst in the upper poron of the wall or ceiling. The holes must
be protected by appropriate grilles.
The refrigerator must be installed in a dry place that’s sheltered against water spray
and direct sunlight.
4.1 Venlaon
It is extremely important for the compressor/condensing unit located behind the
refrigerator to be well venlated so that the fresh air can enter at the boom and
pass behind the refrigerator, with the hot air being allowed to escape from the top or
sides.
Two illustraons showing how the refrigerator housing must be set are shown below.

4.2 Door panelling
4.3 Ice Maker (DR160 COMBO model only)
In the DR160 COMBO model, a modular unit for ice producon (Modular Icemaker
Kit) is present. It is situated in the product's freezer compartment.
Ice producon water network connecon:
This appliance must be supplied only with cold water approved for human
consumpon (drinking water).
The water supply tube of the appliance is located on the back. When the unit is
packaged, the tube is fastened with tape to the
rear wall of the appliance. See Image
The appliance can be directly connected to the
water supply on board. Its pressure must be
contained between 1bar and 10bar.
The INOX models come equipped with a stainless steel door,
without replaceable panels.
The GLASS LINE models are equipped with a front, coloured glass
panel which can be replaced with various models (oponal).
The CUSTOM models are equipped for front panelling, as per
customer request (not included).

4.4 Electrical Connecons
In order connect the unit to the boat’s electrical system, proceed as follows:
- Before turning on the appliance, check to make sure that the voltage of the
electrical system and/or baery complies with that which is indicated on the unit’s
data plate.
- Always use cables with sucient secon (see recommendaons in the following
table).
- Always use normal or nned mul-conductor copper wire, suitable for marine
environments.
- Connect the refrigerator directly to the baery or to the relave main switch and
make sure that the system is equipped with an electric device that’s capable of
protecng the circuit against possible overcurrents.
If the power supply voltage is dierent from 12/24Vdc, install a ΔI 0.03A dierenal
circuit breaker. Avoid connecng the unit via the boat’s control panel as this could
result in voltage drops.
- Insert a fuse upstream from the refrigerator (see the table below).
- Connect the red wire to the electrical system’s posive terminal, and connect the
black wire the negave terminal. Use a pressed lug terminal that’s suitable for the
cable’s size.
- A separate switch that simultaneously disconnects the power cables must be
installed upstream from the refrigerator. Check to make sure that the installed switch
supports the corresponding load indicated in the table below:

Do not plug the refrigerator directly into the baery charger if there is not a baery
connected in parallel.
When the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or else
by a qualied Service Centre.

4.6 Internal lighng
In models DR49, DR55F, DR65, DR85, DR130 internal lighng (12-24V LED) is located
at the top.
Warnings! The refrigerator is equipped with high luminous intensity LED lighng.
Avoid direct exposure to the light beam with eyes.
Replacement of the LED lighng unit must only be carried out by qualied personnel
or by Service Centres.
DR160 & DR190 are equipped with internal illuminaon which is incandescent. Check
to make sure that a proper 12 V/24V light bulb has been installed, based on the
voltage of the electrical system to which the refrigerator has been connected. The
consignment includes a 12V and 24V light bulb, with a maximum power of 3 was.
Always use the 12V light bulb with models equipped with an oponal AC/DC control
unit, regardless of the power supply.
For all models equipped with oponal Power Pack power supplies, always use the
24V light bulb (max. 3 was). A high-brightness LED 12/24V (max. 3 Was) light bulb
can be used as an alternave (not included).
In order to replace the light bulb, slide the lighng unit’s glass down using the
appropriate lever. Replace the light bulb and to return the lighng unit to its original
state. See the diagram.
