ACA1221lc short manual
Dear Customer,
Thank you for purchasing a product from Individual Computers. We're sure that your new
accelerator will satisfy all your needs. However, we would like to emphasi e that installing
the product in a desktop Amiga 1200 is not easy and requires some skills. Please make
sure that you have enough light at your desk and take appropriate anti-static precautions.
Installation should only be performed by experienced persons. In some rare cases, it may
be required to open the computer for installation. If you have never done this before, you
should seek aid of a technician.
Memory
The fast memory of the ACA1221lc is automatically added to the free memory pool. Your
accelerator comes with 11.2MByte fast memory. An additional 1MByte of memory is
reserved for a fast copy of the Kickstart ROM. Use the ACAtool to configure this option. If
used on the ACA2000, a bit more memory can be used – no special software is required;
the ROM of the ACA2000 will automatically enable the memory.
Clock ports
The ACA1221lc has a pin header for the RTC-module, which is available separately. RTC
stands for “real time clock”. If you either don't need an RTC, or already have one in your
computer, you can also use the header for connecting a Silversurfer, Delfina, Subway,
Catweasel MK2 or any other clock port device. Caution: This can only be done if there is
no other clock port device inside of the A1200!
The second clock port is a female port specifically made to accommodate a RapidRoad
USB host controller. Power for the controller can be taken from the white power connector
of the ACA1221lc. This port can also be used if other clock port devices are installed in
your system.
Installation
Please remove all cables connected to your computer and the PCMCIA card, if present.
Carefully place the A1200 upside-down on its keyboard with the floppy drive pointing to the
left. You can now see the lid that covers the computer's expansion slot. It can easily be
levered open with a flat-blade screwdriver.
Start by loosely placing the card near the CPU slot of the A1200. Now lift the back of the
accelerator a little and align the white connector with the CPU slot. Only when the card is
properly aligned, you may push the card into place with a little force. You may only push
on the back of the card. Never apply any force to the connector itself! The open wires
of the connector are very delicate and should not be touched at all.
Your computer is now ready for the first test. Bear in mind that the A1200 is an old
computer: It is very likely that the connector has acquired dirt over the years that is always
present in the environment, for example particulate matter and (if you're a smoker)
nicotine. Should the card not work right away, you should move the card a few times in its
position, for example move it back half a millimeter. In rare cases it may be required to
clean the A1200 main board. Never use contact spray for this task! The gold contacts
of the A1200 main board are best cleaned with a pencil eraser. Please avoid mechanical
cleaning methods like sanding paper or similar.

Software for the ACA1221lc
Please download the ACAtool from our wiki site wiki.icomp.de to make use of the full
potential of the card, including power-saving functions, overclocking and using 1MByte
Kickstart ROM images.
A1200 boar mo ifications
Some A1200 main boards have been assembled with the wrong parts at the factory.
Should you observe any instability of your computer or graphics corruption when moving
icons around on the workbench, you might need to remove up to four components from
your A1200 board: Parts E123C, E125C, E121C and E122C on the bottom side of your
A1200 main board. Although the ACA1221lc implements measures to handle these timing
differencies, we recommend to remove these four components for stable operation with
any accelerator (not just with our ACA12xx series). Please consult an expert/technician for
this job.
Serial/Warranty number
Your ACA1221lc has an alphanumeric code. This co e is your warranty proof. Even if
you're not the first owner of the card and if you don't have the original invoice any more,
we'll be able to tell if your accelerator is still under warranty. The code is resistant against
normal cleaning (such as dusting off), but you should not use any solvent. We' like to
emphasize that your warranty is voi if the co e is not rea able any more. For your
convenience, this code is also be displayed in the status line of the ACAtool.
Jumper positions an further rea ing
The ACA1221lc has a tiny flash rom that takes care of making all memory available,
keeping the PCMCIA slot usable at all times and setting your desired CPU clock speed on
power-up. These settings can be altered using the ACAtool. By setting the jumper to the
“unprotect” position, the flash contents will be ignored. In that setting, the card will start
with only 1.5MByte of memory and 20MH clock speed, regardless of what you have
configured in the flash rom. Think of this jumper setting as your “safety setting” in case
you've chosen a too-high overclocking rate. The “MapROM” jumper setting is not used any
more; it’s a leftover from the previous ACA1221 model. With the ACA1221lc, MapROM
functions are controlled with the ACAtool only; we recommend not to use the MapROM

ACA1221lc Kurzanleitung
Sehr geehrter Kunde,
vielen Dank, dass Sie sich für ein Produkt aus unserem Haus entschieden haben. Wir sind
sicher, dass Ihnen Ihre neue Turbokarte viel Freude bereiten wird. Wir möchten jedoch
darauf hinweisen, dass der Einbau in den Amiga nicht gan einfach ist und ein wenig
Geschick erfordert. Achten Sie in jedem Fall darauf, dass Sie genug Licht am Arbeitsplat
haben!
Der Einbau der Turbokarte sollte nur von erfahrenen Nut ern durchgeführt werden. Auch
kann es in Ein elfällen notwendig sein, den Computer für den Einbau u öffnen. Wenn Sie
dies noch nie getan haben, sollten Sie sich von einem Fachmann helfen lassen.
Speicher
Der schnelle Speicher der ACA1221lc wird automatisch eingebunden. Ihre Turbokarte hat
11,2MByte schnellen Speicher. Wenn die ACA1221lc an einer ACA2000 verwendet wird,
steht ein wenig mehr Speicher ur Verfügung. Hierfür ist keine besondere Software
erforderlich; das ROM der ACA2000 macht automatisch die nötigen Einstellungen.
Zusät lich ist ein MByte Speicher reserviert für eine Kopie Ihres Kickstart-ROMs. Bitte
verwenden Sie das ACAtool um MapROM u konfigurieren.
Clock-Ports
Die ACA1221lc hat einen Anschluss für das RTC-Modul, welches separat erhältlich ist.
RTC steht für den englischen Begriff “real time clock”, was Echt eituhr bedeutet. Falls Sie
keine Echt eituhr benötigen, oder bereits eine in Ihrem A1200 installiert ist, kann diese
Stiftleiste .B. für den Anschluss eines Silversurfer, Catweasel MK2 oder einer anderen
Clockport-Hardware genut t werden. Dies funktioniert je och nur ann, wenn noch
keine Clockport-Har ware in Ihrem A1200 installiert ist!
Der weite clock port an der Rückseite der Karte ist ein weiblicher Anschluss, welcher
spe iell für den Anschluss eines RapidRoad USB Controllers ausgelegt ist. Für die
Stromversorgung von RapidRoad verwenden Sie bitte den weißen 4-poligen Stecker.
Dieser weite Port kann auch dann verwendet werden, wenn bereits der Clockport im
Inneren des A1200 belegt ist.
Einbau
Trennen Sie den Computer vom Net und entfernen Sie alle Kabel (inklusive einer
eventuell vorhandenen PCMCIA-Karte). Drehen Sie den Computer um und legen ihn
vorsichtig auf die Tastatur, sodass das Diskettenlaufwerk nach links eigt. Auf der
Unterseite sehen Sie nun die Klappe, die den CPU-Slot des A1200 abdeckt. Diese hat an
der linken Seite ( um Floppy-Laufwerk hin) einen Schlit , an dem die Klappe mit einem
flachen Schraubendreher leicht geöffnet werden kann.
Legen Sie unächst die Karte so in den Computer, dass der weiße Stecker vor dem CPU-
Slot des A1200 liegt. Heben Sie jet t die Rückseite der Turbokarte leicht an und richten
Sie den Slot-Stecker am Erweiterungsport des A1200 aus. Erst wenn spürbar ist, dass der
Slot wirklich am Mainboard ausgerichtet ist, können Sie mit ein wenig Kraft die Karte in
ihre Position drücken.
Die Karte ist erst dann in Position, wenn nur noch ca. die Hälfte des weißen Steckers u
sehen ist. Drücken Sie nur am En e er Karte, niemals am Stecker selbst! Die offenen
Drähte des Steckers sind sehr empfindlich und dürfen nicht berührt werden!
Ihr Computer ist nun bereit für den ersten Test. Bitte halten Sie sich immer vor Augen,
dass es sich beim A1200 um einen alten Computer handelt. Es ist sehr wahrscheinlich,
dass der CPU-Slot im Laufe der Jahre Schmut angesammelt hat, der immer in der
Umwelt ist ( .B. Feinstaub, aber auch Nikotin bei Rauchern). Falls die Karte nicht sofort

funktioniert, kann es sein, dass Sie die Karte noch einige Male in ihrer Position bewegen
müssen, .B. einen halben Millimeter wieder heraus iehen. In einigen Fällen ist eine
Reinigung des A1200-Mainboards notwendig. Verwen en Sie keinesfalls Kontaktspray!
Die vergoldeten Kontakte des A1200 werden sehr gut mit einem Radiergummi gereinigt.
Bitte vermeiden Sie mechanische Beanspruchung, wie .B. ein Glasfaserstift.
Software für ie ACA1221lc
Bitte laden Sie das ACAtool von unserer Wiki-Seite wiki.icomp.de herunter. Damit können
Sie die Stromsparfunktionen nut en, 1MByte große ROM-Images laden und die Karte
übertakten.
A1200 Boar Mo ifikation
Einige A1200 Mainboards wurden schon in der Herstellung falsch bestückt. Falls Sie
feststellen sollten, dass Ihr Computer un uverlässig arbeitet ( .B. Grafikfehler oder häufige
Abstür e) kann es sein, dass bei Ihrem A1200 bis u vier Bauteile entfernt werden
müssen: Die Bauteile E123C und E125C, sowie E121C und E122C auf der Unterseite des
A1200-Mainboardes. Bitte lassen Sie diese Arbeiten von einem Fachmann durchführen.
Seriennummer, Garantienummer
Ihre ACA1221lc hat einen alphanumerischen Code. Dieser Co e ist Ihr Garantie-
nachweis. Wir können anhand dieses Codes feststellen, wie lange die Karte noch
Garantie hat, selbst wenn Sie nicht der erste Besit er sind, oder der Kaufbeleg nicht
vorliegt. Der Code ist beständig gegen trockene Reinigung ( .B. Abstauben), jedoch nicht
gegen Lösungsmittel. Auch die Bauteile auf der Karte sollten nicht mit Lösungsmitteln
behandelt werden. Trotz em weisen wir arauf hin, ass Ihr Garantieanspruch
verfällt, wenn er Co e nicht mehr lesbar ist. Der Code wird auch vom ACAtool in der
Status eile ange eigt.
Jumper Einstellungen un weitere Literatur
Die ACA1221lc hat ein kleines Flash-ROM, welches beim Start des Computers ausgeführt
wird. Damit wird der Speicher konfiguriert, die Pro essorgeschwindigkeit beim Start
festgelegt und sicher gestellt, dass der PCMCIA-Port immer nut bar bleibt. Diese
Einstellungen können Sie mit dem ACAtool für die ACA1221lc vornehmen. Wenn der
Jumper auf “unprotect” geset t wird, werden die Einstellungen im Flashrom nicht
berücksichtigt. In dieser Einstellung startet die Karte in einer sicheren Konfiguration mit
20MH und nur 1,5MByte Speicher, gan egal was Sie im Flash-ROM eingestellt haben.
Dies könnte nötig sein, wenn Sie eine u hohe Übertaktung gewählt haben. Die
“MapROM” Jumperstellung wird nicht mehr verwendet; sie ist ein Überbleibsel der
Vorgängerkarte ACA1221ec. Wir empfehlen, diese Jumperstellung nicht u verwenden.
Bitte konigurieren Sie MapROM mit dem ACAtool.
