1. Readandfollowtheinstructionsinthemanual.
2. Keepthismanualinasafeplaceforfuturereference.
3. Removeallpackagingmaterialsfromunit.Checktomakesurethatyouhaveremovedallsuppliedcomponentsbefore
discardingtheboxandpacking.
4. Chooseunitinstallationlocationcarefully.Avoidplacingitindirectsunlightorclosetoasourceofheat.Alsoavoid
locationssubjecttovibrationsandexcessivedust,coldormoisture.Keepawayfromsourcesthathum,suchas
transformersormotors.
5. Theapparatusshouldnotbeexposedtodrippingorsplashing,andnoobjectsfilledwithliquidssuchasvases,should
beplacedontheapparatus.Donotplaceanyflamesourcessuchlightedcandlesontopoftheapparatus.
6. Donotblockanyventilationopenings.Alwaysleaveadequatespaceforventilation.
7. Cleanthecabinetregularlyonlywithasoftclothslightlymoistenedwithamilddetergentsolution.Donotusestrong
solventswhichdamagetohousing.
8. Themainplugisusedasthedisconnectdevice.Thedisconnectdeviceshouldremainreadilyaccessible.
9. Iftheunitisnotusedforaperiodoftime,unplugtheunitandtakebatteriesawayfromtheunit.Storethebatteries
inacooldryarea.
10. Ifitislightening,unplugtheUSBcabletopreventtheunitfromunnecessarydamages.
11. Nevertakebatteriesapart.Donotputbatteriesunderthedirectsunlight,northrowthemintofireorheater.
12. Referallservicingtoqualifiedservicepersonnel.Servicingrequiredwhentheapparatusdoesnotoperatenormallyor
hasbeendamagedinanywaysuchasthepowercordorplugisdamaged,liquidsspilledintotheapparatus,anyhard
objectfallenontheapparatus,theapparatushasbeendropped,theapparatushasbeenexposedtorainormoisture.
13. Themarkinginformationislocatedatthebottomoftheapparatus.
14. Attentionsshouldbedrawntotheenvironmentalaspectsofbatteriesdisposal.
15. Usetheapparatusinmoderateclimates.


CASSETTETAPEMAINTENANCE:
TAPEHANDLING:
Donotstoretapesinthefollowingplaces:
1.Ontopofheaters,exposedtodirectsunlightorinanyotherplaceswithhightemperatures.
2.Nearspeakers,onTVsetsoramplifiersorwheretheywouldbeexposedtostrongmagneticfields.
3.Wherehumidityishighandindirty,dustyplaces.
4.Avoiddroppingorsubjectingcassettestoexcessiveshocks.
5.AsC‐120tapesarephysicallyweakandcouldbecomeentangledinthetransportmechanism,donotusethem.

LOADINGACASSETTETAPE:
1.Useyourfingerorapenciltoturnthecassettehubandtakeupanyslacktape.
Note:Donottouchthetapebecausefingerprintsattractdustanddirteasily.
2.Openthecassettedoormanually.
Note:Donotopenthecassetteholderduringrecordingorplayback.
3.Loadthecassettetapewithitsopenedgefacingup.
4.Gentlyclosethecompartmentdoor
.

MAINTENANCE:
Theheadsandtapepathshouldbecleanedanddemagnetizedperiodically(Cleaningmaterialsnotsupplied).

CLEANINGTAPEPATH:
Applyheadcleaningfluidtoacottonswaborsoftcloth,andlightlyrubtheheads,capstanandallmetalpartsinthetape
path.
Alsocleanthepinchrollerusingacleaningfluiddesignedforrubberproducts.

DEMAGNETIZINGHEADS:
Besurethatthepowerisoff,andthendemagnetizetheheadsusingademagnetizer(notsupplied).Fordetailsusageof
thedemagnetizer,readitsinstructions.








•DCpowered:ConnectoneendoftheAC/DCadaptor(notsupplied)intotheDCINsocketatthesideoftheunit.
ConnecttheotherendintoanyACoutlet.
NOTE:ThespecificationoftheAC/DCadaptorisDC3V,inner+outer‐.
•Batterypowered:Openthebatterydoorandthenplace2‘AA’sizebatteries(notsupplied)intothebattery
compartment.Besuretomatchthebatterypolarityshownonthecompartment(+/‐).Thenclosethebatterydoor.
NOTE:Topreventpossibledamagetothisunit:
*Loadnewbatterieswiththeirpolarities(“+”and“‐”)alignedcorrectly.
*Donotapplyheattobatteries,orinternalshortcircuitmayoccur.
*Ifthisunitisnottobeusedforalongperiodoftime,removeallbatteriesandstoretheminacoolanddry
place.
*Removeold,drainedbatteriesimmediatelyanddisposeofthem.

Whenconnectedtoacomputer:
NOTE:Removebatterieswhileconnectedtocomputer.
•USBpowered:ConnectoneendoftheUSBcable(included)totheminiUSBsocketontheunit.Connecttheotherend
intotheUSBsocketonyourcomputer.




LISTENINGTOATAPE
Thecassettedoesnothaveafastforwardbutton,ifyouneedtofastforwardtothespecifiedpart,flipthetape,pressfast
rewindbutton,thenflipthetapeback.

1.SlidetheFUNCTIONswitchto‘TAPE/OFF’position.
2.TurnVOLUMEknobtolowestposition.Thenpluginyourheadphone.Re‐adjusttheVOLUMEknobtoacomfortable
soundlevelwithoutanydistortion.Onceyou’vesetyoursoundlevel,pleaseleavethevolumealone.
NOTE:Sincehearingdamagefromloudnoiseisusuallyundetectableuntilitistoolate,besurethevolumelevelis
nottoohigh.
3.Openthecassettedoormanually.
4.Loadacassettetapewiththeopenedgefacingupwardandfullreelontheright.Thengentlyclosethecassettedoor.
5.PressthePLAY()button.Attheendofthecassettetape,thetapewillstopandthePLAYbuttonwillbesprungback
automatically.

Tofastrewindthetape:
•PresstheFASTREWINDbuttontorewindthetape,whenitreachestothespecifiedpart,pressSTOPbutton.

Tofastforwardthetape:
•FlipthetapeandthenpresstheFASTREWINDbuttontoadvancethetape.Whenitapproachestothespecifiedpart,
stoptherewindandflipthetapeback.

Tostoptheplaybackorrewind:
•PressSTOPbutton.

LISTENINGTOARADIO(FM)
1.SlidetheFUNCTIONswitchto‘RADIO’position.
2.TurnVOLUMEknobtolowestposition.Thenpluginyourheadphone.Re‐adjusttheVOLUMEknobtoacomfortable
soundlevelwithoutanydistortion.Onceyou’vesetyoursoundlevel,pleaseleavethevolumealone.
NOTE:Sincehearingdamagefromloudnoiseisusuallyundetectableuntilitistoolate,besurethevolumelevelis
nottoohigh.
3.PressSCANbuttontotunetoanearbystationautomatically.
NOTE:TheearphoneactsasanFMantenna,extendtheearphonewireorsitnearawindowtoimprovethe
reception.
4.Toresetthesettingfortheradio,pressRESETbutton.
5.Toturntheradiooff,slidetheFUNCTIONswitchto‘TAPE/OFF’position.




AudiofromTAPEandRADIO(FM)canberecordedonthecomputer.
•Torecordfromcassettetape,slideFUNCTIONswitchto‘TAPE/OFF’positionandloadacassettetapeintotheunit.
ThenpressPLAYbuttontostartplayback.
•Torecordfromradio(FM),slideFUNCTIONswitchto‘RADIO’position.PressSCANbuttonbrieflytotunetoanearby
station.


AUDACITYINSTALLATIONANDUSBCONNECTION
ConnectoneendoftheUSBcabletotheminiUSBsocketontheunit.ConnecttheotherendintotheUSBsocketonyour
computer.
Note:TohelpensurethattheAudacitysoftwareandyourcomputerrecognizetheUSBconnection,alwaysconnect
yourunit’sUSBporttoyourcomputer’sUSBportbeforeyouopentheAudacity.
Also,thevolumecontrolontheunitdoesnotaffecttherecordingsoundinput.

AUDACITYFORWINDOWSUSERS
1.PleaseinserttheAudacitysoftwarediskthatcomeswithyourunit.Goto“MyComputer”anddoubleclicktheCDROM
Drive.
NOTE:IftheCDautomaticallylaunchestheSetUpWizard,pleaseskipandreferto‘InstallingtheAudacitySoftware’.


2.TherearefivefoldersintheAudacitydisk.SelectAudacity_for_WINforWindowssystem,andselectAudacity_for_MAC
forMacintoshsystem.



3.DoubleclicktheAudacity_for_WINforWindowssystem,anddoubleclicktheaudacity‐win‐1.2.6toinstalltheaudacity
software.
