1. Readandfollowtheinstructionsinthemanual.
2. Keepthismanualinasafeplaceforfuturereference.
3. Removeallpackagingmaterialsfromunit.Checktomakesurethatyouhaveremovedallsuppliedcomponentsbefore
discardingtheboxandpacking.
4. Chooseunitinstallationlocationcarefully.Avoidplacingitindirectsunlightorclosetoasourceofheat.Alsoavoid
locationssubjecttovibrationsandexcessivedust,coldormoisture.Keepawayfromsourcesthathum,suchas
transformersormotors.
5. Theapparatusshouldnotbeexposedtodrippingorsplashing,andnoobjectsfilledwithliquidssuchasvases,should
beplacedontheapparatus.Donotplaceanyflamesourcessuchlightedcandlesontopoftheapparatus.
6. Donotblockanyventilationopenings.Alwaysleaveadequatespaceforventilation.
7. Cleanthecabinetregularlyonlywithasoftclothslightlymoistenedwithamilddetergentsolution.Donotusestrong
solventswhichdamagetohousing.
8. Themainplugisusedasthedisconnectdevice.Thedisconnectdeviceshouldremainreadilyaccessible.
9. Iftheunitisnotusedforaperiodoftime,unplugtheunitandtakebatteriesawayfromtheunit.Storethebatteries
inacooldryarea.
10. Ifitislightening,unplugtheUSBcabletopreventtheunitfromunnecessarydamages.
11. Nevertakebatteriesapart.Donotputbatteriesunderthedirectsunlight,northrowthemintofireorheater.
12. Referallservicingtoqualifiedservicepersonnel.Servicingrequiredwhentheapparatusdoesnotoperatenormallyor
hasbeendamagedinanywaysuchasthepowercordorplugisdamaged,liquidsspilledintotheapparatus,anyhard
objectfallenontheapparatus,theapparatushasbeendropped,theapparatushasbeenexposedtorainormoisture.
13. Themarkinginformationislocatedatthebottomoftheapparatus.
14. Attentionsshouldbedrawntotheenvironmentalaspectsofbatteriesdisposal.
15. Usetheapparatusinmoderateclimates.

CASSETTETAPEMAINTENANCE:
TAPEHANDLING:
Donotstoretapesinthefollowingplaces:
1.Ontopofheaters,exposedtodirectsunlightorinanyotherplaceswithhightemperatures.
2.Nearspeakers,onTVsetsoramplifiersorwheretheywouldbeexposedtostrongmagneticfields.
3.Wherehumidityishighandindirty,dustyplaces.
4.Avoiddroppingorsubjectingcassettestoexcessiveshocks.
5.AsC‐120tapesarephysicallyweakandcouldbecomeentangledinthetransportmechanism,donotusethem.
LOADINGACASSETTETAPE:
1.Useyourfingerorapenciltoturnthecassettehubandtakeupanyslacktape.
Note:Donottouchthetapebecausefingerprintsattractdustanddirteasily.
2.Openthecassettedoormanually.
Note:Donotopenthecassetteholderduringrecordingorplayback.
3.Loadthecassettetapewithitsopenedgefacingup.
4.Gentlyclosethecompartmentdoor
.
MAINTENANCE:
Theheadsandtapepathshouldbecleanedanddemagnetizedperiodically(Cleaningmaterialsnotsupplied).
CLEANINGTAPEPATH:
Applyheadcleaningfluidtoacottonswaborsoftcloth,andlightlyrubtheheads,capstanandallmetalpartsinthetape
path.
Alsocleanthepinchrollerusingacleaningfluiddesignedforrubberproducts.
DEMAGNETIZINGHEADS:
Besurethatthepowerisoff,andthendemagnetizetheheadsusingademagnetizer(notsupplied).Fordetailsusageof
thedemagnetizer,readitsinstructions.

•DCpowered:ConnectoneendoftheAC/DCadaptor(notsupplied)intotheDCINsocketatthesideoftheunit.
ConnecttheotherendintoanyACoutlet.
NOTE:ThespecificationoftheAC/DCadaptorisDC3V,inner+outer‐.
•Batterypowered:Openthebatterydoorandthenplace2‘AA’sizebatteries(notsupplied)intothebattery
compartment.Besuretomatchthebatterypolarityshownonthecompartment(+/‐).Thenclosethebatterydoor.
NOTE:Topreventpossibledamagetothisunit:
*Loadnewbatterieswiththeirpolarities(“+”and“‐”)alignedcorrectly.
*Donotapplyheattobatteries,orinternalshortcircuitmayoccur.
*Ifthisunitisnottobeusedforalongperiodoftime,removeallbatteriesandstoretheminacoolanddry
place.
*Removeold,drainedbatteriesimmediatelyanddisposeofthem.
Whenconnectedtoacomputer:
NOTE:Removebatterieswhileconnectedtocomputer.
•USBpowered:ConnectoneendoftheUSBcable(included)totheminiUSBsocketontheunit.Connecttheotherend
intotheUSBsocketonyourcomputer.

Thecassettedoesnothaveafastforwardbutton,ifyouneedtofastforwardtothespecifiedpart,flipthetape,pressfast
rewindbutton,thenflipthetapeback.
1.SlidetheFUNCTIONswitchto‘TAPE/OFF’position.
2.TurnVOLUMEknobtolowestposition.Thenpluginyourheadphone.Re‐adjusttheVOLUMEknobtoacomfortable
soundlevelwithoutanydistortion.Onceyou’vesetyoursoundlevel,pleaseleavethevolumealone.
NOTE:Sincehearingdamagefromloudnoiseisusuallyundetectableuntilitistoolate,besurethevolumelevelis
nottoohigh.
3.Openthecassettedoormanually.
4.Loadacassettetapewiththeopenedgefacingupwardandfullreelontheright.Thengentlyclosethecassettedoor.
5.PressthePLAY()button.Attheendofthecassettetape,thetapewillstopandthePLAYbuttonwillbesprungback
automatically.
Tofastrewindthetape:
•PresstheFASTREWINDbuttontorewindthetape,whenitreachestothespecifiedpart,pressSTOPbutton.
Tofastforwardthetape:
•FlipthetapeandthenpresstheFASTREWINDbuttontoadvancethetape.Whenitapproachestothespecifiedpart,
stoptherewindandflipthetapeback.
Tostoptheplaybackorrewind:
•PressSTOPbutton.
LISTENINGTOARADIO(FM)
1.SlidetheFUNCTIONswitchto‘RADIO’position.
2.TurnVOLUMEknobtolowestposition.Thenpluginyourheadphone.Re‐adjusttheVOLUMEknobtoacomfortable
soundlevelwithoutanydistortion.Onceyou’vesetyoursoundlevel,pleaseleavethevolumealone.
NOTE:Sincehearingdamagefromloudnoiseisusuallyundetectableuntilitistoolate,besurethevolumelevelis
nottoohigh.
3.PressSCANbuttontotunetoanearbystationautomatically.
NOTE:TheearphoneactsasanFMantenna,extendtheearphonewireorsitnearawindowtoimprovethe
reception.
4.Toresetthesettingfortheradio,pressRESETbutton.
5.Toturntheradiooff,slidetheFUNCTIONswitchto‘TAPE/OFF’position.

AudiofromTAPEandRADIO(FM)canberecordedonthecomputer.
•Torecordfromcassettetape,slideFUNCTIONswitchto‘TAPE/OFF’positionandloadacassettetapeintotheunit.
ThenpressPLAYbuttontostartplayback.
•Torecordfromradio(FM),slideFUNCTIONswitchto‘RADIO’position.PressSCANbuttonbrieflytotunetoanearby
station.

ConnectoneendoftheUSBcabletotheminiUSBsocketontheunit.ConnecttheotherendintotheUSBsocketonyour
computer.
Note:TohelpensurethattheAudacitysoftwareandyourcomputerrecognizetheUSBconnection,alwaysconnect
yourunit’sUSBporttoyourcomputer’sUSBportbeforeyouopentheAudacity.
Also,thevolumecontrolontheunitdoesnotaffecttherecordingsoundinput.
AUDACITYFORWINDOWSUSERS
1.PleaseinserttheAudacitysoftwarediskthatcomeswithyourunit.Goto“MyComputer”anddoubleclicktheCDROM
Drive.
NOTE:IftheCDautomaticallylaunchestheSetUpWizard,pleaseskipandreferto‘InstallingtheAudacitySoftware’.
2.TherearefivefoldersintheAudacitydisk.SelectAudacity_for_WINforWindowssystem,andselectAudacity_for_MAC
forMacintoshsystem.

2.Selecttherecordingdevice:microphone(USBAudioController)
zClickthe“AudioI/O”attheAudacityPreferencesinterface.
zClickthe“RecordingDevice”arrowandselect“microphone(USBAudioController)”.
zClickthe“Channels”andselect2(stereo).
zClickthecheckbox“Channels”andselectSoftwareplaythrough(playnewtrackwhilerecordingit).
zClickthe“OK”.

Adjusttherecordingvolumetothemiddlefirst,thensettolowerorhigher.Thefluctuantwavewillshowontheinterface

2.Whenthecassetteplayerisconnected,youcannothearanysoundifyouneedtolistentomusic.Itisbecausethe
defaultplaybackdevicehasbeenchangedtoUSBAudioControlleroncethecassetteplayerconnectstothePC.
Recommended:RemovetheUSBcablefromthePC.
Alternative:ThissolutionrequiresyoutochangethesettingmanuallyeverytimeyouconnecttheUSBcablewiththePC.
Changethesettingasfollows:
•ForVistaandWindows7users:
Click“Start”andgototheControlPanel.Findand
click“Sound”icon.Clickthe“Playback”tab,clicka
playbackdevice(e.g.,Speakers)thenclick“Set
Default”.Andclick“OK”, thesoundcomesout.

Youmayclick“Start”andfind“Programs”,
