Lower Strut Assembly
All of the fasteners required for assembling this component are found in Bag 2.
Bag 2 contains 4 x M4*8mm bolts, 4 x M4 Hex Nuts and 4 x M2.5*6mm bolts
ŸFlip the entire assembly on it's back so that the undersides are visible.
ŸThe lower strut assembly comprises of 4 parts, 2 Left and 2 Right. Each part is
marked L or R
ŸUsing the M2.5x6mm bolts you will now join both the Left and Right lower
struts together to form a longer strut. The M2.5 bolt will pass through the bolt
hole on the Left part and you will screw directly into the plastic of the Right
part.
ŸYou will perform this step twice, creating 2 lower struts.

ŸWe will tighten the Top Left and Right bolts as well as the lower strut bolts to
stiffen up the entire assembly.
ŸPosition one of the lower strut assemblies into the notches under each of the
Left and Right sides.
ŸInsert an M4*8mm bolt from below and place an M4 hex nut into the nut
shaped recesses and loosely tighten the protruding bolt.
ŸRepeat for the second lower strut assembly.
ŸAttach the 4 rubber feet in the positions indicated in the diagram above.
DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.

All of the fasteners required for assembling this component are found in Bag 2.

On a clear at surface, lay out
all of your parts to assist in
the identication of parts and
assembly processes
Position the fan over the Fan
HAT (Part10)
Place one of the bolts from the
small plastic bag containing the
fan into one corner of the fan
and through the Fan HAT
Note the position of the power
cables. This is important later
Flip the fan and Fan HAT over
and position a fan nut over the
bolt and attach the nut to the
protruding bolt

Flip the assembly over and
tighten the bolt and nut
Repeat for each of the fan
corners
Locate the M2.5 nut recesses on
the INSIDE of the RIGHT side
plate (Part1)
Press t the 4 x M2.5 nuts
(Part9) into the recesses. You
may need to hold each nut in
place as you insert the standoffs
in the next step
Flip over the RIGHT side plate
and screw an M2.5 x 6mm
standoff / spacer (Part8)
through the side plate into the
M2.5 nut on the other side
Repeat for each of the
remaining standoffs

Flip over the side plate so the
standoffs are facing down.
Position an A Clip (Part3) in the
TOP FRONT corner of the side
plate
There is an ‘A’ visible on the part
Place a Square Nut (Part7) into
the square recess of the A Clip.
Insert an M4x8 bolt (Part6)
from the outside of the side
plate, through the A Clip and
screw into the Square Nut
*Square Nut colour may differ
based on availability
Loosely tighten the bolt into the
Square Nut.
You will fully tighten these
bolts once your drives are in
place
You should end up with
something like this example

Position a B Clip (Part4) in the
TOP REAR corner of the side
plate
There is a ‘B’ visible on the part
The two screw holes of both A
and B should now be facing
each other
Insert an M4x8 bolt (Part6)
from the outside of the side
plate, through the B Clip and
into the Square Nut
Place a Square Nut (Part7) into
the square recess of the B Clip.
*Square Nut colour may differ
based on availability
While holding the Square Nut
and B Clip in place, loosely
tighten the M4 bolt into the
Square Nut
You will fully tighten these
bolts once your drives are in
place
You will now position the
second A Clip DIAGONALLY
OPPOSITE from the original
AClip
Place and attach to the Square
nut as before

You will now position the
second B Clip DIAGONALLY
OPPOSITE from the original
BClip
Place and attach to the Square
nut as before
Your assembly will now look
something like this. The feet are
facing upwrads
Ensure all bolt holes in The A / B
Clips are facing up and down
Ensure all cable management
slots open AWAY from the
attached side plate
Position the LEFT side panel
(Part2) so that the feet match
the orientation of the RIGHT
side panel
Position an M4x8mm bolt
(Part6) through the LEFT side
panel and through an end of
one of the A or B Clips

Place a Square Nut (Part7) over
then end of the protruding bolt
and loosely tighten the bolt
Repeat for each of the
remaining corners so that
either side panel are loosely
connected to the A / B Clips
*The INUX3D logo designates
the REAR of the construction
Insert one of your 3.5” HDD’s
from the FRONT of the TPXDUO
with the HDD ports also facing
the FRONT
Slide the rst HDD so that
the holes for the HDD Screws
(Part5) line up between the
HDD and the TPXDuo frame

Screw in an HDD Screw (Part5)
into both the FRONT and REAR
HDD screw holes
Don’t fully tighten yet
The HDD screw colour may be
different in your kit
Now insert the second HDD,
align the screw holes between
the A / B Clips and the HDD
Loosely tighten the remaining
2 screws and you should have
an assembly that looks like this
from the TOP
Flip the entire assembly over so
that the feet are now pointing
upwards
Insert and tighten the 4 HDD
screws through the A / B Clips
and into the HDD
You can now ip the assembly
and tighten the other 4 screws

To install your Raspberry Pi, lay
the assembly on the LEFT side
so that the metal standoffs are
facing upward and the HDD
connections are facing you
Roughly position the RPi as
pictured and prepare to afx
the supplied heat sinks to the
RPi
Afx the heat sinks on the RPi
BEFORE attaching the Fan HAT
(Part10)
Place the Fan HAT and fan
assembly over the RPi.
Line up the holes with the
standoffs under the RPi and
insert and loosely tighten an
M2.5x16 (Part11) into one of the
corners

Insert and tighten all M2.5x16
screws to secure the Fan HAT
assembly and the RPi to the
TPXDuo
Connect the Fan to GPIO Pins 4
and 6 on the RPi
Double check these BEFORE
powering anything on
Install the 4 rubber feet (Part16)
as shown
Connect the SATA adaptors
Depending on which USB ->
SATA adaptors you purchase,
they may look different than the
one in the diagram.
Ensure you have purchased
POWERED SATA connections
for any 3.5” HDD

Route both SATA cables through
the A / B clips as shown in the
following images and attach to
the USB 3 ports of your RPi
Depending on which power
supplies you purchased, you
can route those through the A /
B Clips too
Congratulations you’ve
successfully completed the
TerraPi Extreme Duo build
If required, tidy up any cables
with zip ties or Velcro
