1 User and safety instructions
The user and safety instructions section contains basic instructions on how to operate the
inVENTer®iV14 ventilation system safely.
1.1 Safety instructions
Read all the instructions on installation, operation and maintenance of the inVENTer®iV14
ventilation system provided in this section. Also observe any safety instructions that precede the
operating instructions described.
Before working on the equipment/system, read the safety instructions carefully. Failure to
observe safety instructions may cause personal injury and/or material losses.
The safety instructions in these installation and operating instructions are set out in a standard




Reliable fan operation is only guaranteed in rooms without polluted air.
The inVENTer®®
iV14 ventilation unit must not be connected directly to the 230 V power supply – it must always
be connected via a controller.

The equipment/system may only be installed and operated in conjunction with this
documentation and the controller documentation. Installation, wiring/electrical connection and


persons authorised to install, start up and identify equipment, systems and electrical circuits in
accordance with safety engineering standards.

2 System overview
The inVENTer®iV14 ventilation system is designed for the ventilation of living rooms and
bedrooms in houses and apartment blocks, hotels and B&Bs, rooms in public facilities and


The inVENTer®iV14 ventilation unit comprises a wall sleeve in which a thermal accumulator with
fan is installed, an inner cover and a weather protection hood.
The standard length of the wall sleeve is 450 mm. For thicker walls, there is the option of
ordering a wall sleeve with a length of 650 mm. Both versions can be trimmed on site. For





Weather protection hood 09 is suitable for iV14R and iV14V ventilation units with a wall
thickness of 250 mm or above.
The Ohio weather protection hood is to supplement the inVENTer®iV14V ventilation unit. It

protection hood 09 cannot be used due to the shallow installation depth. The Ohio weather



2.2 Function
The inVENTer®iV14 ventilation system works on the heat recovery principle by changing the
rotational direction of the fan. The integral thermal accumulator is charged with the heat of the

accumulated heat to the incoming outdoor air (supply air).
To ensure that this principle works correctly and that the volume of supply air matches the
®iV14 ventilation units are required. One ventilation

changes its rotational direction.
Before starting work, you should have a drawing from which the number of ventilation units, their

relevant controllers can be determined. The following basic rules apply to the functioning of the
ventilation units:
Paired operation of the ventilation units: The volume of supply air should match the volume


starting order of the ventilation units. The sequence may need to be changed following start-up

Synchronisation: The ventilation units must be synchronised when using multiple ventilation
units controlled via multiple controllers (see installation and operating instructions for the
controller). All of the controllers should be connected via a mains fuse in the building distributor.
Cross ventilation: A decentralised ventilation system based on the free movement of air
between individual pairs of ventilation units. For this reason, internal doors must not have an

door, unscrewing door hinges by 5 mm, use of a ventilation grille, or other measures.

2.3 Controls
ZR8-Standard/ZR8-Flat controller

The ZR8 controller is an electronic unit for controlling up to two inVENTer®iV14 ventilation units.
What sets it apart is its easy installation and simple operating concept.
It allows control of the inVENTer®iV14 ventilation system in three modes:
 Heat recovery
 Ventilation
 Pause function (ZR8-Flat only) or OFF (ZR8-Standard only)

ZR8-Flat controller is recommended in rooms where the ventilation unit should not be switched
off in order to maintain ventilation to protect against moisture build-up.
Features
 Control of the ventilation unit in three operating modes.
 

 LED display subject to the selected operating mode.
 Synchronisation of multiple controllers.
 Integral thermal circuit breaker.
Versions
There are two versions of the ZR8 controller:
 ZR8-Standard
 ZR8-Flat

The ZR10-D controller is an electronic unit for controlling up to four inVENTer®iV14 ventilation
units. In terms of operation and functionality, it corresponds with the ZR8 controller.
It allows control of the inVENTer®iV14 ventilation system in three modes:
 Heat recovery
 Ventilation
 Pause function (ZR10-D-Flat only) or OFF (ZR10-D-Standard only)

Use of the ZR10D-Flat controller is recommended in rooms where the ventilation unit should not
be switched off in order to maintain ventilation to protect against moisture build-up.

MZ-One®controller

The MZ-One®controller is an electronic control unit for controlling up to 16 inVENTer®iV14
ventilation units. It comprises a programming unit and up to four Clust-Air®modules, which
can each be connected to up to four inVENTer®iV14 ventilation units. As a result, it provides
separate ventilation for up to four different areas (zones) within a residential unit.

