Instruction on Polar Scope Replacement of a CEM26/GEM28 Mount
Toll needed: a set of metric Allen wrench
DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE SET SCREW!!!
To Remove/Replace/Rotate a CEM26/GEM28 iPolar:
For GEM28
1. Unthread the red RA rear cover
2. Release two set screws on RA axle.
3. Pull out the iPolar
4. Set the mount in Zero Position and insert a New iPolar
5. Check the iPolar orientation to make sure ALT adjustment will result image vertical movement.
For CEM26
1. Release the screws from side
2. Release the other screw from the bottom
3. Pull out the iPoler
4. Set the mount in Zero Position and insert a New iPolar.
5. Check the iPolar orientation to make sure ALT adjustment will result image vertical movement.
To Install an AccuAlignTM Optical Polar Scope:
The RA axis locking wrench will not be able to be used due to the length of optical polar scope.
The LED brightness is not adjustable. You’ll need to block part of the LED if you would like a dim illumination.
1. Set the mount at Zero Position
2. Insert the optical polar scope. Set any one of major marks on top to assume the 12 o’clock position.
3. Tighten the set screws
4. Thread in the polar scope LED. Plug the 3mm DC plug into the LED and 5.5mm plug into DC 12V OUT socket on
main board.
5. Turn on the mount power to check the LED and polar scope.
Major mark
Polar Scope Alignment
There are three Reticle Adjustment Screws on the side of the Polar scope, as shown in the following photo.
(1) Aim the polar scope to a distant object, such as a flag top or building corner. Adjust the object lens to focus the polar
scope to the object. Adjust the eyepiece to see the dial clearly. Center the object in polar scope by adjusting mount
altitude and azimuth adjustment screws.
(2)Bring the object half the distance to the center by adjusting the reticle adjustment screws. Loose one screw first,
then tighten the other screw(s). Only loose/tighten one screw at a time and very small amount of turn each time to
avoid the reticle totally lost its position. It may take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the screws that move the
polar scope in the appropriate direction. PLEASE do not over tighten the setting screws. The reticle is made from a
glass.
(3) Rotate the mount 180 degree to bring the mount back to the left side. If you are lucky enough, the object will stay in
center of the polar scope. Otherwise, repeat Step 1 to further move the object to the center. After few times, the object
will stay in center when the mount is flipped from right to left.
