Steril Cabinet
FUNCTIONAL FEATURES
Steril Cabinet is a special germicidal cabinet, designed by Isotech to meet the ever-
growing needs for disinfection in professional and healthcare areas. Spores, viruses
and bacteria can be transported not only by air but by objects and tools of common or
daily use. With a few minutes passage inside Steril Cabinet it is possible to obtain
the disinfection of the equipment and tools and all that is positioned inside, in a
simple, immediate and safe way, without developing heat, without using liquid and
without the slightest contraindication.
Steril Cabinet is a cabinet divided into three oors from stainless steel grids equip-
ped with 9 UVC lamps, 3 on each oor. The lamps are positioned so as to radiate all
the surfaces to be disinfected without shaded areas. The internal surfaces are coated in
reective aluminum, easy to clean and designed to reect the emission of germicidal UVC by increasing the po-
wer of the radiation, and considerably lowering the exposure times necessary to achieve the disinfection degree
of 99.9%.
The use of Steril Cabinet is indicated not only in the health sector, but in all those circumstances in which you
want to create and maintain the sterility of instruments and objects.
With Steril Cabinet we obtain the maximum level of disinfection, in just 10 minutes of operation we achieve
99% reduction of bacteria on the contents of the cabinet. The same results are obtainable only with products and
chemical compounds, dangerous for health and harmful for the environment, as well as expensive and difcult
to use.
The cabinet has a security system that provides for the automatic shutdown of the lamps when it is opened.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION ON THE USE OF UVC IN ISO TECH PRODUCTS
UV-C radiation is a proven and effective technology for destroying micro-organisms
Iso Italia Group, with over 30 years of experience in UV lamp sector presents its product line for disinfection with
UVC Steril Line germicidal lamps.
Germicidal lamps emit very short ultraviolet waves, deadly to micro-organisms.
Some information about Germicide lamps
Ultraviolet rays emit a very high energy level light with a wavelength between 200-400nm. In particular, radiation
with a 254nm wavelength has been scientically proven to be extremely effective for disinfection. More than 90%
of the total UV radiation emitted is just 254nm. Wavelengths of 200-280nm are called UVC. Thus disinfection
using 254nm wavelength is called UVC Disinfection. Radiation of 254nm destroys micro-organisms by changing
the genetic information contained in their DNA, ensuring a 99.99% reduction.
Safety of UVC germicidal systems
Since UV-C rays present a danger to the skin and eyes, direct exposure to the rays should always be avoided. The
UV-C is blocked by a number of materials, including glass and most transparent plastics, so you can safely observe
a UV-C system if you look through a shielding system. UV-C provides disinfection without residues of any kind,
however these systems do not imply the need to eliminate or neutralise dangerous products after disinfection.
UVC germicidal systems are fast, inexpensive and eco-friendly, as no chemicals are added to air / water and there
are no hazardous or toxic chemicals to dispose of.
Benets of UVC germicidal systems
Disinfection times are rapid, with a typical disinfection cycle lasting about 15 minutes (excluding germicidal air
systems). This allows extremely fast turnover times for sanitising environments. For its simplicity, UV-C disin-
fection is extremely easy to use. All surfaces within a certain distance, will observe a certain level of disinfection
for a certain period of time, provided that the light is not blocked and can reach the surface. It becomes very easy
to plan the use of a UV-C disinfection system when you are familiar with the simple usage protocols.
Applications of UVC germicidal systems
The applications of our germicidal systems are many and ever more numerous.
Systems are available for the disinfection of environments, air, objects and equipment, air conditioning ducts,
ambulances and other vehicles, ducts, belt conveyors and many other applications.
The guaranteed effectiveness of UVC systems
Out manufacturing unit knows the energy produced by all pieces of equipment, calculated by the number and
from the type of lamp used and by its designated function (application) (air purication, objects, environments).
From these technical values we determine the “DOSE” of UVC produced by each device (i.e. the energy of the
device multiplied by the ignition time. This type of calculation allows us to be sure of the germicidal efciency,
as in medicine, on a global level, tables are used that indicate the required "DOSE" of UVC required to eliminate
all bacteria, spores and viruses.

UV BASICS
Ultraviolet light belongs to the electromagnetic spectrum with a wavelength between 200 and 400 nm (nanome-
ters), which is shorter than visible light, but longer than X-rays. All UV rays and bands are invisible to the human
eye.
The UV spectrum can be divided into the following bands:
UV-A (Long Waves; 400-315 nm): Used for Black Lights, Skin Tan, Ink/Resin Hardening.
UV-B (medium waves; 315 – 280 nm): used to treat psoriasis, may cause sunburn, skin cancer.
UV-C (short waves; 280 – 200nm): more effective for germicidal disinfection.
UV-V (UV under vacuum, less than 200 nm): may produce ozone in the air.
All of the above wavelengths of UV light are emitted from the sun, but only the longest wavelengths, UV-A
and UV-B reach Earth. UV-C rays, which are the shortest wavelength but the highest energy, are blocked by the
ozone layer.
INACTIVE MICRO-ORGANISMS
Because UV-C rays are blocked by the ozone layer, micro-organisms have not developed a natural defence
against UV-C energy. When the DNA of a micro-organism absorbs UV-C energy, molecular instability occurs,
resulting in interruption of the DNA sequence. This makes the cell unable to grow or reproduce. Without the
ability to reproduce, the cell cannot infect and dies quickly.
The application of UV-C energy to inactivate micro-organisms is
known as germicidal irradiation or UVGI. It has been used for this
purpose since the early 1900s. Artificial UV-C energy is produced
in germicidal ultraviolet lamps that produce UV radiation by ion-
ising mercury vapour at low pressure. These lamps are similar to
typical fluorescent lamps for domestic use, but do not have the
phosphorescent coating that transmits soft white light. Most com-
mercial UV-C lamps are low-pressure mercury lamps that emit
UV energy at 253.7 nm, which is an ideal wavelength for disrupt-
ing the DNA of micro-organisms.
UV-C lamps and devices are increasingly used worldwide in vari-
ous configurations and applications to disinfect water, air and sur-
faces.
10
DOSAGE DETERMINES EFFICACY
The amount of UV-C energy required to inactivate a given micro-organism is measured on the basis of the dose,
which is determined by a combination of radiation energy and exposure time. A key difference between surface
inactivation and airflow inactivation of micro-organisms is exposure time. The residence time in the UV field for
micro-organisms in the airflow is in the order of seconds and would require a much higher UV-C dose compared
to surface application. Scientists have determined the rates at which various microbial populations decrease due
to exposure to biocidal factors such as UV-C irradiation. Organisms differ in their susceptibility to UV-C inac-
tivation; in general, viruses are the most sensitive to UV-C rays followed by bacteria with fungal moulds and
spores that are the least sensitive.
UV-C irradiation also obeys the inverse-square law of light, where the intensity at a given point is inversely
proportional to the square of its distance from the light source.
To date, the dose in Joules has not yet been officially established to inactivate COVID-19 because to obtain the
exact data means waiting for the technical laboratory times, which should be made official by the end of October.
However, all bacteria and viruses tested to date (many hundreds over the years, including coronaviruses) are
eliminated by UV disinfection. UVC rays (or germicidal range), inactive (i.e., “kill”, “eliminate”) at least two
other coronaviruses that are the closest relatives of the COVID-19 virus: SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV (“Large-
scale preparation of UV-inactivated SARS coronavirus virions for vaccine antigen”, Tsunetsugu-Yokota Y et al.
Mol Biol Methods. 2008; 454:119-26. doi: 10.1007/978-1-59745-181-9_11.; “Efficacy of an Automated Mul-
tiple Emitter Whole-Room Ultraviolet-C Disinfection System Against Coronaviruses MHV and MERS-CoV,
“Bedell K et al. ICHE 2016 May; 37(5):598-9. doi:10.1017/ice.2015.348. Epub 2016 Jan 28.; Focus on Surface
Disinfection When Fighting COVID-19”; William A. Rutala, PhD, MPH, CIC, David J. Weber, MD, MPH;
Infection Control Today, March 20, 2020 (https://www.infectioncontroltoday.com/covid-19/focus-surface-disin-
fection-when-fighting-covid-19). However, the efficacy condition of UVC light remains related to THE DOSE,
i.e. the energy with which the light reaches the target to inactivate it. UVC systems must therefore be designed
to ensure the DOSE required to inactivate the viruses for the environments and applications for which they were
designed.
