Note:itisassumedthattheincomingMPXsignalhasalreadyitsRDSsubcarriersummed,sothecoderwillbe

Navigation/Editing:
Thewindowscanbescrolledthroughusingthe“left/increment”and“right/decrement”keysonthefrontpanel.
Tomodifyeditableparameters,onceenteredintothedesiredwindow,pressthebutton“Edit/Enter”.
Pressingthe“edit/enter”key,anasterisk“*”willappearnearthefirsteditableitem
Pressingthe“left/increment”or“right/decrement”keysthe“*”cursorcanbepositionedontheothereditableitems
ontheselectedwindow.
WishingnowtomodifythevalueofTAflag,pressagainthe“Edit/Enter”key:a“<”symbolwillappearnearthen
parameterindicatingthatitisineditingstate.
Pressingnow“Right/Increment”and“Left/Decrement”keys,thevalueofselectedparametercanbechanged.
Oncethedesiredvalueisset,pressagainthe“Edit/Enter”key.Thesymbolwillreturnto“*”,toindicatethatyouare
backinnavigationstate.
Ifneeded,youcanthengoandchangeotherparametersintothesamewindow.
However,ifeditingiscompleted,pressthe“Edit/Enter”keyagain:the“*”symbolwilldisappearanditwillbe
possible,using“Left/Increment”and“Right/Decrement”keys,tonavigatetheothermenus.

ToremotelycontroltheTAandM/Sflagswithexternaldevices(eg.yourradioautomationsystem),itisnecessaryto
enabletheexternalport.
Note:whentheexternalcontrolportisenabled,itwillnotbepossibletocontroltheseflagsthroughtheRd‐Link
software.
Thelowerrowshowstheinputstatusinrealtimeanditisuseful,duringtheinstallationprocess,toverifythecorrect
connectionoftheexternaldevices.
Encodersynchronizationwindow:
Ontheencodersprovidedwithexternalsynchronizationinput,thesynchronizationwindowisavailableanditallows
theselectionofinternalorexternalreferenceandtheoperatingstatus.
Duringnormaloperation,bothwithinternalorexternalreference,thebarshouldbeabouthalfscale.
Ifthebarreachextremevalues,itmeansthatthesynchronizationsignalhasatolerancegreaterthan+/‐2Hz.
Note:Iftheencoderisusedwithmonophonicsignals,thereferencemustbesetonINTERNAL.

Theconfigurationsoftwareissuppliedforsettingupallcoderfeatures.
Theconnectionisthroughaserialport9600baud8databits,noparity,1stopbit.
Mainwindow:
InthemainwindowyoucanselecttheCOMportusedforcommunicationwiththeRDSencoder
Toverifycommunication,onceyoutheserialportisselected,connecttheencodertothePCandpressthebutton
"GetInfo".
Ifthecommunicationiscorrect,theproducttypeanditsfirmwareversionwillbeshown.
Youcanthen,bypressingthe"ReadCoder"button,readalltheinformationsstoredintothecoder.
Anyway,anyblock(flags,Radiotext,PSorAfList)canbereadindividually,usingthe“Read”buttonintotherelated
tab.
Tospeedupprogrammingisinfactpossibletoeditandtransferallblocksorreadandwriteonlywhatyouneedto
change,eg.thealternatefrequenciesorPSNs,leavingallothersunchanged.
Theprogrammedsetupcanbesavedandreloadedfromdiskusingthepulldownmenu"File".

entireprogramming.

Thecodeconsistsof4digits,thefirstdigitindicatesthecountryoforigin,thesecondrepresentstheareaofcoverage
andthelasttwoidentifythestationintoitscoveragearea.
Firstdigit,thecountryoforiginoftheprogram.Youmaywriteitdirectlyintothe“PICode”editboxorselectitusing
the“Country”dropdownlist.
AlistofsomecountrycodesisreportedinappendixA.
Forthesecond,accordingtothecoveragearea,chooseoneofthefollowingcodes:

ARTIFICIALHEAD:

Thisdeviceisadummyhumanheadwithtwomicrophonesinsertedintotheauditorycanals,usedduringthe
recordingprocessoftheperformanceorliveevent,toaccuratelyreproducetheoriginalspatiality.

Alternativefrequencies
TheRDSencoderallowsmethod"A"or"B"fortransmittingalternativefrequencies.
Thechoicebetweenthetwomethodsdependsonthestructureofthenetworkandthenumberofalternative
frequencies.
Thereisnoflagthatindicatestothereceiverifthealternativefrequenciesaretransmittedbymethod"A"or"B";the
differencebetweenthetwomethodsisjustonhowthelistsarecompiled.
Note:
ItisnotpossibletocompiledifferentlistsusingtheAandBsimultaneously.
“A”methodshouldbeusedonlywhenthenetworkhasamaximumof25frequenciesanddoesnotdifferentiate
regionalprogramming.
“B”methodisusedwhenthealternativefrequenciesaremorethan25orwhen,withinthesamenetwork,thereis
aprogramdifferentiation,suchaslocalnewsoradvertising,onlyoncertainfrequencies.
Thelistsmustbecompiledstartingfromthefirstandshouldbefilledleavingnoemptylistsinbetween:listsafter
anyemptylistwillnotbetransmitted.

Thisisthesimplestmethodanditisindicatedforallthosestationswhichhaveamaximumof25alternative
