CCU 100 and Repeater 100
Basic Assembly
Quick Reference Guide
Thank you for purchasing Itron's CCU 100 or Repeater 100.
Complete CCU 100 and Repeater 100 documentation
(CCU 100 and Repeater 100 Installation Guide) can be
found at Itron's support Web site: http://support.itron.com
(available for registered users).
Attach the 900 MHz Antenna
1. Slide the black rubber boot onto the base of the
antenna as shown in the following illustration.
2. Screw the antenna onto the top of the CCU/Repeater.
Be careful not to cross-thread the connectors. Tighten
until snug, but do not over-tighten.
3. Push the rubber boot as close as possible to the top of
the CCU as shown in the following illustration.
4. Slide the antenna sleeve over the antenna, ensuring
that the front of the antenna sleeve (1) is to the front of
the CCU/Repeater.
The black rubber boot must be visible from the top (2)
of the antenna sleeve.
5. Using the included screws and washers, screw the
antenna sleeve to the top of the CCU/Repeater.
Tighten the screws to 5 to 6 in/lbs.

To attach the local 4G WAN antenna
Warning Do not install an 8.15 dBi antenna directly on
the CCU. Antenna installation directly on the CCU will
compromise mechanical integrity and will not meet the
compliance requirement for a loss of 2.2 dB.
1. Remove the 4G WAN antenna from the main CCU
shipping box.
2. Attach the 4G WAN antenna on the N-Connector on
the bottom of the CCU labeled WAN.
To remove the mounting disk (wall-
mount only)
Note Do not remove the mounting disk assembly if
you are mounting the device on a pole, pipe, or tower.
•To mount the CCU100 using the Itron-supplied wall-
mounting brackets, remove the mounting disc disk,
washer, lock washer, and bolt from the back of the
CCU.
Removing this assembly will not compromise the device's
weatherproofing.
To install the battery
Note A battery is not installed in solar units.
1. Insert the battery connector into the connector on the
CCU 100.
2. Align the edges of the ferrite bead with the edges of
the recess in the battery well.
3. Press the ferrite bead into the recess in the battery
well.
4. Place the battery in the battery well as shown in the
following illustration.
Provision the WAN (for
unprovisioned WANs only)
Use the following instructions if you choose to provision the
CCU's WAN modem to your corporate cellular account.
To provision the WAN (unprovisioned
WANs only)
1. Record the CCU serial number and the SIM number or
ESN number for each CCU.
This information is found on the label on the side of the
shipping box or on the end of the unit. The SIM or
ESN number is also contained on a label on the side of
the unit adjacent to the main antenna connector.
2. Request provisioning by sending an email to the
cellular carrier with the following information for each
SIM or ESN.
•The customer account number with the cellular
carrier
•For authorization to add a line item to existing
account, provide the contact information for the
customer contact whose name appears on your
billing statement
•The SIM or ESN number for each CCU
•The serial number for each CCU (not required, but
Itron recommends this association)
•Calling plan type: minimum required is a 3G data
plan
•Account type: data only
•APN: call Itron Support for the appropriate APN
for your cellular carrier
