1. Introduction
This guide provides installation and programming instructions for the following products:
Pancode VoIP outdoor piezo keypad unit
Pantel VoIP outdoor piezo keypad unit
The Pancode VoIP and Pantel VoIP are smart wall-mounted and flush-mounted access control door phones
connected to a local Voice Over IP (VoIP) network of a VoIP PBX, allowing door entry control. They are available
for outdoor installation in an aluminum unit with a piezo keypad.
The Pancode VoIP and Pantel VoIP have the following features:

1.1 Pancode VoIP/Pantel VoIP Kit Contents
The contents of the Pancode VoIP/Pantel VoIP are as follows:

External 12V DC power supply for devices with internal video camera and IP video server (Video
Over IP feature)
Ethernet cable

2. Physical Description
The Pancode VoIP and Pantel VoIP are attached to the wall using a bracket and screws. These units are
hardwired and powered by an external 12V AC transformer, included in the package. The Pancode VoIP and
Pantel VoIP dimensions are:

Width: – 10.2
Flush Mounted unit dimensions are:
Flush Panel:13.8 x 23.3cm / 5.4 x 0.9 inch
Flush Mounted part: 9.8 x 19 x 2.5 cm/3.8 x 7.5 x 0.9 inch
2.1 Pancode VoIP Front Panel
The front panel of the Pancode VoIP unit contains a built-in speaker, a microphone, touch-keypad and
internal video camera hole (optional) (Figure 2-1).

2.2 Pantel VoIP Front Panel
The front panel of the Pantel VoIP unit contains a built-in speaker, a microphone, call button and internal
video camera hole (optional) (Figure 2-2).

3. Installation
The Pantel VoIP/Pancode VoIP is mounted on the provided installation bracket. This mounting bracket should be
installed as shown in Figure 3-1.

To install the wall bracket:
a. Measure and mark the location on the wall where the holes will be drilled for the mounting bracket.
b. Drill the holes and insert the wall anchors into the holes.
c. Attach the mounting bracket using the provided wall screws.
If your Pantel/Pancode unit is equipped with a designated flush mounting adaptor (See Figure 3-2 ), install the
unit as follows:
•Carve a 2.5 cm cavity in the wall.
•Insert the adaptor into the cavity and screw it with four screws to the wall.
•Place the adapter into the cavity.
•Place the unit into the adaptor and attach it to the frame using four screws, as displayed in Figure 3-3.
Make sure that the screwing holes are clean of wall dust, because it will make the unscrewing of the
unit very difficult.

3.1 Pancode VoIP/Pantel VoIP Schematic Setup
The Pancode VoIP/Pantel VoIP unit is connected to the VoIP PBX as a SIP extension or via any IP router (Network
HUB, Switch etc). The unit powers the door lock, provided it is powered by an external supply and not PoE. The
unit includes the internal 2 port’s network switch which allows connecting additional network equipment (PC,
Internal or External video IP server etc…) directly via VoIP Pancode / Pantel. Figure 3-4 details the unit schematic
setup.

4. Installing the Pantel VoIP/Pancode VoIP
The Pantel VoIP/Pancode VoIP can be installed as an individual access control or used with adjacent access-
control devices, such as card reading devices (see Section 4.2).
The provided 12V AC or 12V DC external power supply should not be located further than 10m (30ft) from the
unit.
These units also support Power Over Ethernet (PoE), meaning that they could operate when connected to
Ethernet without mains. However, the current provided by the PoE supply is insufficient for opening a
door. If your system is equipped with door lock relay, make sure to use the external supply.
Figure 4-1 shows the terminal locations on the wire connector provided with the unit. This connector is attached
at the base of the internal component. All wiring to the unit is attached to the wire connector.
When holding the unit as displayed in Figure 4-3, the first pin from
the right is the first ~12V pin.

The Pantel VoIP/Pancode VoIP supports a bypass switch installation. This allows opening the door with a
hardwired switch. A bypass switch should be connected to the SW and /SW terminals.

For the installation of the powered-unlocked-state (12 V AC), use DLR
and ~DLR. For the installation of the powered-locked-state, use /DLR

and ~DLR (this is recommended for safety purposes).

must support functionality with electrical current
up to 1.5 A (1500 mA)
The wiring connector can be a screw or insert connector type. In case when connector is wired type in order to
attach a wire, you must insert the stripped end of the wire into the proper terminal and tighten the terminal
screw. This will crimp the wire connection.
To Install the Pantel/Pancode VoIP:
a. Remove the cover from the Pantel VoIP/Pancode VoIP unit and disconnect the wire connector, found at the
base of the internal component.
b. Connect the two 12V lead wires from the 12V AC power adapter, one to each of the “~12V” terminals
(Figure 4-1).
c. Connect the two 12V lead wires from the 12V DC power adapter, one to each of the “12V” terminals
(Figure 4-2).
d. Connect the Ethernet cable to the RJ-45 “PORT 0” straight LAN socket (Figure 4-3 and Figure 4-4) by means
to program the unit using the Web-based GUI (see Section 5).
e. Connect the door-lock relay wires to the “DLR” and “~DLR” terminals

If the door-lock relay is a powered-locked-state type lock, connect the door-lock relay wires to the “/DLR”
and “~DLR” (“-DLR”) terminals.
f. If a push button switch is used, connect the push button wires to the “SW” and the “/SW” terminals.
g. Plug the wire connector to the base of the unit’s inner component.
h. Switch on the power to the 12V adapter.

1. After power-up or reset, the Pancode/Pantel device starts an
initialization process, which can take up to 20 seconds. The
initialization completion is indicated by short busy signal.
2. Device can be detected in the LAN by using the MAC address
shown on the label and QUERY utility from the installation CD.
In cases where the MAC address is unknown, device can be
detected by using the SCAN utility from the installation CD (see
Paragraph 7.1 and 7.2).
3. When SIP parameters are updated, an automatic power reset is
required. The programming is not done in real time. Make sure
to apply the settings to the unit.

4.1 Installing the Video Camera (Optional)
4.1.1 Installing the analog Video Camera
The Pantel VoIP/Pancode VoIP unit can be installed with an internal or external analog video camera. The video
camera 12V DC power is supplied via the 11(+) and 12(-) pins located on the Main PCB Connector (see Figure
4-5). In addition to the external video camera can be powered with the own external power supply.

The internal video camera can be physically installed on the internal video camera installation place (see Figure
4-5).
The default internal video camera video output socket is the BNC-Female type. The BNC (Bayonet Neill
Concelman) connector is a very common type of RF connector used for terminating coaxial cable. BNC-Female
video output has to be connected with the customer’s video monitor or USB adapter (See Note below) by using
the coaxial cable installed on the customer’s site. The recommended coaxial cable length has to be no more then
20 m.

The analog video stream can be routed directly to a TV Monitor
1. Customer takes the full responsibility on the video camera functionality in case when
the third part external video camera will be used with the door units. The
manufacturer’s supplied video camera’s technical parameters shown in the Paragraph
(See Paragraph 7.1)

For the internal video camera installation:
•Install the Video Camera to the “Internal video camera installation place”
•Connect the Video Camera’s electrical power wires to the appropriate PCB Main connector’s pins
11 – 12 (See Figure 4-5 and Figure 4-8)
•Connect the video output BNC-F connector to the Video Monitor
•Connect all the rest required door unit’s connections (LAN, Door lock, Exit button etc.)
•Connect the supplied Pancode / Pantel external ~12 VAC power supply and switch on the unit
•Configure and adjust the video monitor follow by the Video Monitor configuration instructions in
order to get the video image from the video camera.

The analog video camera is constantly transmitting images using an analog video stream.

4.1.2 Installing the IP Networking Video Camera
Device accomplished with the IP (Video over IP) internal video camera
and internal video web-server supplied with the 12 V DC external
power supply. Check the power supply connections polarity. Incorrect
connectivity can destroy device. (See Figure 4-2 )
1. Existing IP Door units can be supplied with the analog video camera and internal web-
server.
2. Customer takes full responsibility on the video camera functionality in case when the
third part IP networking video camera will be used with the door units.
3. IP video camera functionality depends on the Pancode / Pantel VoIP hardware’s
release in case when the unit powered by using the POE technology. Apply to your
local dealer in order to check the hardware compatibility.
The Pantel VoIP/Pancode VoIP unit provides the video stream via the TCP/IP based network.
In order to provide the video stream over TCP/IP based network Pancode / Pantel IP must
be accomplished with the Video Camera and Internal Network Server.
Especially network server generates an MPEG4 video at different resolutions, allowing for high quality
monitoring while recording at a different image rate maximizing storage and transmission efficiency. In addition
to network server supports DirectX 9.0 supporting viewer, which enable PC CPU resources to drop.
The Pantel VoIP/Pancode VoIP unit can be installed with an internal video camera. The video camera 12V DC
power is supplied via the 11 and 12 pins located on the Main PCB Connector (see Figure 4-9 Internal IP Camera
connections ). In addition to the internal or external IP video camera can be powered with the own external
power supply.
The internal video camera can be physically installed on the ‘Internal video camera installation’ place (see Figure
4-9 Internal IP Camera connections ). Camera’s video output internally connected with the network video web-
server which connected with the RJ-45 Port 1 socket by the Network bridge-cable. The video camera is
constantly transmitting images using an analog video stream.

Release all required Pantel / Pancode IP cable’s connections following by the user’s manual: LAN, Power supply
