the Power button again for [2] seconds and then
release.
3. If the Power button is still unresponsive after the 3rd

down various Windows components and backlighting.
NOTE: The Power button can appear unresponsive when it

due to a five second delay the scanner has for shutting
down the Windows components.
Powering ON and OFF the Scanner
Charging the Scanner
When transporting scanners to their assigned
scanning locations ensure that all scanners are
powered off. This helps minimize roaming and
potentially the time it take for the scanner to connect
to the appropriate access point.
Power on the scanner(s) once they have arrived at
their scanning location.
Do not remove the scanners from their assigned
scanning locations.
Transporting Scanners
1. Power the scanner off and place it into the charging
cradle.
2. Check the LED Indicator to determine the charging
state of the scanner as follows:
Orange - The scanner is charging.
Green - If the LED immediately turns green, the
scanner is already fully charged.
Red -If the LED immediately turns red the battery is
completely discharged. Watch to ensure the LED
changes from red to orange and then to green. If the
LED remains red contact your local Client Services
representative to determine if the battery needs
replaced.
LED Indicator not illuminating any colors - Check
the following:
The battery is properly inserted in the scanner.
The scanner is properly seated in the charging
cradle.
The charging cradle power adapter is properly
connected to each receiving end.
The AC cord is properly connected to each
receiving end.
The AC cord is plugged into a working AC outlet.
NOTE: If all of the above are true when determining
why the LED Indicator is not illuminating any colors,
contact your Client Services representative to
determine if the scanner, charging cradle or power
adapter need replacing.
Before removing the scanner or battery from the charging
cradle ensure that the previously orange LED in front of the
scanner or on t
he rear of the cradle is now illumiated green.
This ensures that the scanner has a fully charged battery.

Do not aim the imager at people. When scanning a ticket, it is best
to turn slightly away from the guest and aim it downward.
To scan a ticket, press one of the Scan buttons while aiming the
imager 6-7 inches from the barcode on the ticket.
The imager can read a barcode at any angle. It is like a digital
camera; hold it stil when scanning tickets. Wiggling or moving the
scanner up and down will not help it read the barcodes. Adjust the
ditance to the ticket as needed to get a good scan.
The following scan screens appear when scanning a valid or
invalid ticket (Entry button can be hidden under Options):
VALID TICKET INVALID TICKET
Toggle between Entry or Exit scan modes by tapping the
Entry/Exit button at the bottom of the scan screen. If the barcode

Strength. The wireless signal strength can be toggled to a numeric
DB value by tapping on the bar graph.
Normal Operation - Online, ready to scan.
Device Disconnected - If you see any of the following messages,
contact the appropriate supervisor.
Offline Mode - Device is offline, will scan.
Device Not Connected to Wireless Network
Device Connected to Wireless only - Offline Mode not enabled.
High Availability (Offline - see Device Status) mode permits the
scanning and validation of barcodes and personal IDs in the event
of a wireless network or server failure. Offline mode scans are
kept on the handheld until the network comes back online at
which time they will upload to the server. If your handhelds have
High Availability enabled, here are a few best practices to follow to
achieve the best results when using offline mode.
SETUP
Scanner time must be correct. If the scanner has the wrong
time zone, reports may not be correct when scans are
uploaded. Offline mode scans are recorded at the scanner
time.
Check the HA status screen. Verify the number of active
events, PIDs, barcodes from file and scanner time.
Check the Active Event (AE) report on the server. This
report shows how many events, barcodes, personal IDs
should be loaded for HA mode.
DURING SCANNING
Contact Supervisor: if you see the OFFLINE MODE
message on your scanner.
It is ok to: Exit the scanning app. Reboot the scanner.
Change batteries. If the scanner loses power for over 10
minutes, offline scan data will be lost.
A Barcode can be scanned only once. A second scan of a
barcode will display “Already Used”. There is no Rescan”
messaging in offline mode.
Rules and section restrictions are not currently enforced
in offline mode. If your venue uses rules for a “wrong gate”
message to direct ticket holders to specific gates, double
check tickets when scanning in offline mode.
AFTER EVENT
The scanner must be properly connected to the wireless
network/server in order for any offline scans to upload.
Upload offline scans on event day. The HA status screen
Scans to upload should read 0before devices are stored for
the evening.
