Installation Instructions
JATCOEnvironmental Protection Tank
J-5000 SM-P
*INSTRUMENTATION GAS IS MANDATORY FOR SUPPLY GAS*
The JATCO Environmental Tank must be installed at a level which will allow the waste liquids to be
disposed of to gravity flow into the tank.
IMPORTANT: The top of the tank must be below the level of waste liquids tobe received.
Inlet and the outlet check valves are both teed from the same port near the bottom of the tank (end opposite
the sight glass). When facing this end, the inlet check valve is on the left (A) and the outlet check valve
is on the right (B).
The discharge should be piped directly to thestorage tank that is to receive the waste liquid. The discharge
may be teed into an existing flow line, provided that a high-pressure check valve (1000 psi) is installed to
prevent high pressure from returning to the discharge check valve on the JATCO tank.
The tank supply gas must have adequate volume and pressure. For best operation use 1” pipe for the tank
supply gas plumed as close to the tank as possible. Then reduce down to the tubing connection (C) on the
JATCO tank.
Supply gaspressure minimum (40psi)is connected to the bottom inlet of the level control valve (C)
this gaspressure must not exceed (75 psi) for normal operation. No pressure regulator is provided.
Gauge cock knobs are removed for shipping.
Depressing the manual dump plunger allows the operator to check function of the floatand level control
valve. When the plunger is depressed, the tank will cycle once and return to the automatic operation.
The plunger button should be returned to the extended position.
3-way pilot valve (G) is vented thru ¼” NPT port (H).
Liquid levels in the JATCO tank may be observed in the sight glass furnished as standard
equipment.

Service Guide
JATCO Environmental Tanks
J-5000 SM-P
*INSTRUMENTATION GAS IS MANDATORY FOR SUPPLY GAS*
Listed below are aseries of steps to follow if the JATCO tank fails to dump
properly.
The tank supply gas must have adequate volume and pressure. For best operation
use 1” pipe for the tank supply gas plumed as close to the tank as possible. Then
reduce down to the tubing connection (C) on the JATCO tank.
Step #1 besure there is an adequate supply of gas pressure (40-75 psi), to the inlet
connection on the float control valve. Ifthere is enough pressure at the inlet
connection, press down on the manual dump plunger. This should cause the tank to
dump, then vent when the cycle iscomplete. Ifthe JATCO tank fails to dump
manually, remove connector tubing topilot valve (G) to test for pilot pressure from
float control valve (D). If the float control valve is not sending pressure to pilot
valve when depressingmanual dump plunger (F),removal and or inspection of float
control will be necessary and proceed to step #2. Ifpressure is present but pilot
valve fails to operate, removal, inspection, and or replacement of the pilot valve may
benecessary.
Step #2 the side mount level controller hasvery few moving parts. Ifthe valve is
not operating properly, remove and inspect travel of float arm. If noobstruction is
visually present but the float arm does not travel freely then removal of float arm is
necessary. To remove float arm carefully drive float arm retaining pin out with a
hammer andpunch. Then inspect magnet and chamber for debris. Ifthere is no
obstruction with float arm assembly or tubing connections, replacement may be
necessary.
