Installation Detail
Electrical Power Connection
Follow the installation instructions for Thermotrax previously described in this manual.
Attach the Thermotrax power cable to the lift truck’s DC power source. The Thermotrax is
polarity independent so it does not matter which wire is positive or negative. The optimum place
to connect to the lift truck power is between the battery and the ignition key. It is important to
understand that the Thermotrax requires power at all times in order to function properly.
The Thermotrax scanner heaters are available in 12 volt, 24 volt and 36 – 48 volt models. Before
making electrical connections please verify that the heater voltage matches the lift truck. You will
find a label indicating the voltage affixed to the bottom of the Thermotrax. Be sure that the
voltage label matches the lift truck before installation.
The green LED in the Thermotrax will light when power is being supplied to the Thermotrax unit
and should be on at all times except during battery changes. The red power LED located within
the Thermotrax will illuminate when the internal temperature control circuit turns on the heater
and will cycle on and off as required by your particular environment.
Notice: Please consult with your lift truck manufacturer for any specific electrical
installation instructions that may apply.
In all installation cases, do not connect power to a switched line. The JLC heater MUST
receive power at all times (with the exception of lift truck battery exchanges) in order to
function properly. Use the JLC recommended electrical connection diagramed unless the
lift manufacturer recommends other connection points.
