Tips on using the manual
This manual has been written for the device user to ensure a problemfree operation, care and
maintenance. Important instructions and information concerning safety and operational reliabil-
ity have been highlighted.
The symbols used in the manual have the following meanings:
Working and operating processes which must be observed to the letter to exclude any risk to
persons.
The illustrations and diagrams are numbered in sequence within each chap¬ter. Some of these
illustrations have keys. References to illustrations within the text e. g. (5.1/2) have the following
meaning:
5.1 = Figure 5.1
2 = Position 2 in the key to the figure.

Safety instructions
This device has been built according to the latest technical standards and generally accepted
safety regulations. Nevertheless, it can constitute danger to life and limb for operator or third
parties and a hazard to the device itself or other equipment during use.
1. Only use the device if in perfect working order and for its intended purpose. You must
always pay attention to the instruction manual and safety instructions therein and be
aware of the risks! Repair any faults which could aect the device’s safety immediately
by yourself or have these repaired.
The device is designed exclusively for grinding, milling and polishing with the fools
listed and approved in the joke catalogue for surface finishing. Any other use will be
deemed to be contrary to its intended purpose. The manufacturer cannot be held liable
for any resulting damages. The risk is borne solely by the user.
Correct use also includes compliance with the instruction manual and observation of
the care and maintenance conditions.
2. Keep the instruction manual handy at the device’s place of use.
3. Pay attention to and observe generally applicable statutory and otherwise binding regu-
lations relating to accident prevention and environmental protection in addition to the
information provided in the instruction manual!
4. All personnel commissioned to work on or with the device must have read this instruc-
tion manual, and particularly the safety instructions chapter, before starting work. This
applies especially for personnel who only work with the device occasionally.
5. Stop the device immediately should you notice changes to the device or its operating
behaviour that are relevant to its safety. Have these remedied by suitable specialists
before restarting work.
6. Do not carry out yourself or have carried out any modifications, additions or conversions
to the device! This also applies to the installation and adjustment of safety equipment.
7. Spare parts must meet the technical requirements specified by the manufacturer. This
can only be guaranteed with original joke spare parts.
8. Any work on/with the device may only be carried out by qualified, appropriately trained
and authorised personnel. Pay attention to minimum statutory age limits!
9. Wear safety goggles when working with the handpiece.
10. Personnel undergoing training or in a general apprenticeship should only be allowed to
work with the machine under the constant supervision of an experienced operator!
11. Restrain from any type of work that could jeopardise your safety.
12. The device may only be used if all protective and safety equipment is in place and in
proper working order.
13. Do not leave the device unattended when switched on!
14. Stop and secure the device immediately in the event of malfunctions! Faults must be
remedied at once by suitable specialists!

Warranty/Identification
joke warrant the correct manufacture of every joke Technology GmbH product which is delivered
in accordance with the terms of contract and delivery.
This warranty does not cover damages caused by normal wear and tear, incorrect handling,
negligent use, the fitting of non-original spare parts, ina-dequate care and/or a failure to comply
with this technical manual.
The device may only be used by appropriately trained personnel. If it is not, all warranty claims
will be forfeited according to the terms of delivery.
Device identification
The manufacturer’s code and type code, CE label and series number can be found on the rear of
the control units or in the case of the handpieces on the handle sleeve.

Operation / Use / Care
Setting the DIPROFIL®hand-filing machine FPT/ER and FPV/ER into operation
1. Loosen the tool retaining screw (5.1/3) and tighten it firmly again after inserting the tool.
The guide ring (5.1/2) can be detached from the machine housing after loosening the
setscrew (5.1/6), so that the tool can be freely guided.
Pushing back the guide ring and tightening the screw in turn creates a rigid connection
with the machine housing.
2. Screw the micromotors J-BM 40, J-BM 50 or J-BM 50HT into the mounting thread on
the underside of the hand-filing machine. The connection must be achieved without
major resistance. Otherwise, the appropriate position is obtained by slightly rotating the
eccentric cam (5.1/5).

3. Pull o the protective hood (5.1/4) to adjust the working stroke.
4. Loosen the clamping screw (5.1/1) and subsequently rotate the loose eccentric cam shaft
(5.1/5) such that the index mark on the outer ring points to the figure that indicates the
desired stroke in mm.
5. Tighten the clamping screw again and apply and lock the protective hood.
6. Operate the pedal on the foot switch to switch the hand-filing machine on and o and
control its speed.
Never allow the machine to run without the protective cap (5.1/4).

Notes on operation
Vibrations exceeding 2.5 m/sec2make represent a risk of injury in case of daily and persistent
stress.
Constant contact with components that execute a linear movement may result in vibration damage.
A speed greater than that indicated in the diagram should be avoided!
Always use the hand-filing machine with the rubber coating in order to reduce the vibration load.
Refer to diagram for tools used.

Maintenance instructions
Please precisely follow the instructions below in order to achieve maximum service life
of the machine:
Daily maintenance
1. Remove the protective hood (5.2 /1).
2. Apply a couple of drops of oil, Diprofil FNA-K type (joke no. 0001287) or similar, to the
needle bearing of the coupling piece (5.2/5) after approx. every 8 hours of use.
3. Only loosen the clamping screw (5.2/2) far enough to ensure that the FMP-2 bearing
bush is not lost.
4. Pull the piston rod and tool holder (5.2/3) out of the machine housing.
5. Carefully clean the piston rod and tool holder (5.2/3) with a soft cloth and apply a few
drops of oil, Diprofil FNA-K type (joke no. 0001287) or similar.
6. Reinsert the piston rod and tool holder (5.2/3) into the guide bush. The piston rod must
be completely pushed into the coupling piece (5.2/5). For this purpose, bring the adjus-
table eccentric cam (5.2/4) into the forward position. Firmly tighten the clamping screw
(5.2/2) again.
7. Reapply the protective hood (5.2/1).

Weekly maintenance
1. Remove the protective hood (5.3/1).
2. Apply a couple of drops of oil, Diprofil FNA-K type (joke no. 0001287) or similar, to the
needle bearing of the coupling piece (5.3/9).
3. Remove the setscrew (5.3/3).
4. Remove the screw (7/4/8).
5. Rotate the tool holder protective cap (5.3/5) through 90° and remove.
6. Only loosen the clamping screw (5.3/2) far enough to ensure that the FMP-2 bearing
bush is not lost.
7. Pull the piston rod and tool holder (5.3/6) out of the machine housing.
8. Carefully clean the piston rod and tool holder (5.3/6) in addition to the tool holder protec-
tive cap (5.3/5) with a soft cloth and WD 40 (joke no. 0580610 or 0580611) or similar and
apply a few drops of oil, DIPROFIL®FNA-K type (joke no. 0001287) or similar.
9. Remove the lubricating felt (5.3/7) and carefully clean with WD 40 (joke no. 0580610 or
0580611) or similar. Subsequently soak with DIPROFIL® FNA-K oil (joke no. 0001287) or
similar and reinstall. Important: replace heavily soiled felts.
10. Reinstall the tool holder protective cap (5.3/5) and screw (5.3/8).
11. Install the setscrew (5.3/3).
12. Reinsert the piston rod and tool holder (5.3/6) into the guide bush. The piston rod must
be completely pushed into the coupling piece (5.3/9). For this purpose, bring the adjus-
table eccentric cam (5.3/4) into the forward position. Firmly tighten the clamping screw
(5.3/2) again.
13. Reapply the protective hood (5.3/1).
