K6 Bt 2
Duplex Bluetooth Serial Adapter
for multiple baud rates
(HW 8.1.0, FW 2.1)
The K6 Bt provide a connection between a device with a erial RS232 port (GPS device, e.g. flight
recorder, flarm, variometer) and a bluetooth enabled device (e.g. PDA, Smartphone, Tablet or PC).
It i po ible to end data in both direction u ing everal baud rate . The baud rate can be
configured automatically, manually by jumper or with a compatible oftware. To prevent
unauthorized acce , the connection i pa word protected.

configuration can be directly connected with an 1:1
patch cable.
A fu e with 0.5 up to 2 A ha to be u ed for current
limiting. In mo t ca e the fu e can be u ed together
for the connected GPS device and the K6 Bt.
. LEDs
Both LED give information about the operating condition of the K6 Bt:
•permanent light after turning on: ready for configuration, change after 4 econd
•red LED blink (- - ): automatic baud rate identification i enabled and baud rate i not found
yet
•red LED out: baud rate found or con tant etting
•green LED blink (- - ): no bluetooth-connection e tabli hed yet
•green LED fla he (· · )): bluetooth-connection e tabli hed

3 Configuration
3.1 Baud rate
Following baud rate are upported: 2400 baud, 4800 baud, 9600 baud, 19200 baud, 38400 baud,
57600 baud, 115200 baud. The baud rate of the K6 Bt ha to match the baud rate of the connected
GPS device. The baud rate of the K6 Bt can be configured in the following way:
3.1.1 Automatic baud rate identification
If no jumper i etted, the K6 Bt trie automatically to detect the baud rate of the connected device.
Detection of the baud rate i only po ible when the connected device end NMEA-0183
conforming data with at lea t one entence per econd. After the power-on the K6 Bt earche for
the correct baud rate indicated by double blinking of the red LED. If the correct baud rate i found,
the LED tay off. The et baud rate i maintained until the K6 Bt i witched off.
3.1. Constant baud rate
The baud rate can be fixed by etting jumper ( ee image 4). U ing a con tant baud rate, the red
LED remain off. The following table how the configuration variant . Common baud rate can be
realized with a ingle jumper or a witch. Thi way the baud rate can be witched in a fa t way.
To change the baud rate configuration the K6 bt ha to be witched off.

3.1.3 Setting of the baud rate via bluetooth
To download flight from flight recorder it i po ible to et the baud rate of the K6 Bt u ing a
proprietary K6-Team protocol via bluetooth. The oftware on the bluetooth device ha to upport
the proprietary K6-Team protocol.
At the delivery the K6-Team protocol i enabled, for changing ee chapter 3.2.
3. Additional configuration via terminal program
The etting for bluetooth ID, -pa word and the K6-Team protocol can be changed with a PC.
Therefore the jumper TX ha to be etted and one of both connection port ha to be connected to
the erial port of the PC. A crossed cable (TX and RX exchanged) i required (can be ordered at
K6-Team).
On the PC a terminal program ha to be in talled (e.g. the program provided by MS Window
Hyperterminal or any other terminal program).
U e the following configuration for the terminal program to connect with the K6 Bt:
baud rate: 115200 baud, data bit : 8, parity: none, top bit : 1, flow control: none
After applying the power upply to the K6 Bt, the tring 'ikkk' (+ one econd pau e) ha to be
entered in the terminal program within 4 econd (while the red LED i continuou ly on).
