As programming affects the functionalityofthe PABX,programmingmade by
unauthorized peoplemaycauseundesiredfunctions of your PABX.
Beforestarting theprogramming,the customerrequests shouldbe clearlynoted
then relevantprogrammingcodesshouldbedefined and then the PABXmust be
programmed as explained inthis guide.
The PABXcan be programmed throughthe systemsupervisortelephoneand

INTRODUCTION
Thanks tothe richsoftwarestructureofthe systems, severalparameters related to
the operationofthe MS Seriesexchangescan be modifiedaccording tocustomer
requirements. The modifications aredone through program codes.
The systemcan be programmedonlythrough telephone ofthe systemsupervisor
(bydefault the first extensionofthe system). Adifferentextension canbe assigned
throughprogramming bythe system supervisor.
The systemcannotbe programmedduring normaloperationmode.It shouldbe
switchedtoprogrammingmode bytheSystemSupervisor. Following all the
modificationsofparameters inprogramming mode,thosemodificationsmust be
saved inthe memoryand thenthe programmingmode shouldbe exited.Unless the
modificationswiththe parameters aresaved,the parameters willhavetobe
programmed again, incaseof anypower failure.
The structureofthe programcodesis standard.Forall programs, thereis a
maximumsix-digit programcode,followedbyparametercodes. Details aboutthose
parameters havebeenincluded inthe descriptionsofthe related programs.
However, thereis animportantpointaboutextension and line access codesthat
shouldbeemphasized:Inseveralprograms, extension orline access codesmust
be entered asaparameter. One shouldbecareful, duringthe entryofthe extension
or linenumbers whileprogramming,
Inthe followingpagesofthis guide, the programcodesrelated tovariousparts of
the systems havebeen presented inthe form ofgroups. The purposeis making it
easyforthe programmertofind theprograms forthe related module, aswellas
providingconceptual integrity.
It is recommendedthatall ofthe programs belowshouldbe read and all the codes
tobe entered duringthe programming shouldbe determined priortoprogramming.
Analternativeofthe systemsupervisor’s telephone tobeused toprogramthe
systemis the Net-ConsolePC program, whichis averyuserfriendlysoftwaretool
toprogram the exchanges.
IMPORTANTNOTE: Due totheir ownoperatingprinciplesofIP phones, functions
of someprograms mayvaryon them.

GENERALDEFINITIONS
Explanationsofthe programs havebeen presented inaconstantformatinthis
guide.
Heading Line: Nameof the program is stated.
Definition: Briefexplanation ofthe programis stated. This section is omitted in
someprograms, sinceit hasbeen included inthe sectionsfornecessary
explanations andparameter definitions.
Program Codes: Someextension and line parameters can be programmed bytwo
alternativeways. One ofthemis programmingofasingleline (extensionorexternal
line)and theotheris programming ofline group. Thus, parameters relatedtoan
extension orline canbe programmed eitheronebyone oringroups. The group
programmingoption ofaprogramcode is indicated by[9]. If “9”is dialed inthe code
atthe shownposition, then theparameters givenforthe extensionorline will be
validforall the extensionsorlines, starting fromthe given extension orline tothe
last one.However, IP extensions/linesand analogextensions/linescannotbe
programmed togetheringroupsall atonce.Thatmeans; duringthe programming,if
an analog extensionnumberis entered before‘9’, thegroup programmingdoesnot
coverthe IP extensions, onlytheanalogextensionswillbe programmed.To
programthe IP extensionsingroups, the programmingprocess must alsobe
repeated byentering an IP extensionlinebefore‘9’.
Parameters: Parameters related toprograms arestated withtheir definitions. Some
ofthe parameters are“conditional” onesthataretobe entered inconnection with
someprevious parameters. Thoseconditional parameters areindicatedinbraces: {}
Cancellation: The codesthatwillcancelthe given programaredefinedhere.
Pleasenotethatthis section is used onlywhen the relatedprogramhasdifferent
activationandcancellation codes.
Default value: Factorydefault initial values of program parameters arestated here.
Notes: Additionalconstraints, warningsandinformation aboutthe programare
stated.

NUMBERING PLAN
MS SeriesPABXsystems havedifferentnumbering planswithrespect totheir
capacitiesand types. The differencesand the factorysetnumbering plansof
MS48IP can be seen inthe following table.

11….22
111….150 (E) +
*Only the analogcapacitiesofthe MS48IP aregiven, the IP capacitiesarenot
shownon the table.
E: Withexpansioncards.
Extensionnumbers can be definedas up to4digits byFlexibleNumbering.
When it is required toenterthe extensionnumberduringthe programming the last
valueof the extension number must be entered withinthe program code.

PROGRAMMING MODE
Entering The Programming Mode:
877777
Inordertosetthe exchangeintotheprogrammingmode,thatcode must be dialed
on systemsupervisorphone.Otherwise, the exchange will notacceptthe dialed
program codesand it will signal error tonetothe programmer.
Notes
1.The phone throughwhichthe programming will beperformed is the operator’s
telephone.However, this can beassigned toanotherextensionvia
programming. When the systemis putinprogrammingmode, the Pr LED on the
BusyDisplayPanels of Karel Consoles andDSS modules turnon.
2.Enteringthe programming modeis notallowedif the systemsupervisorlocks
the phone withthe code837.
Exiting The Programming Mode:
877778
Afterthe programming ofthe exchange hasbeen completed andallofthe
modificationsmust besavedtothe memory, theexchangemust be exited fromthe
programmingmode.

MS48IP Programming Guide
6
Entering Program:
The systemexits the programmingmodeautomatically,if noprogrammingis
carried forone minute.Insuchacase, the systemmust be putinprogramming
mode,if exists extraprograms must be entered andthen the systemmust be put
out of programmingmode.
Whileenteringthe program, it’s essentiallyimportanttoenterparameters incorrect
length.Otherwise,the programmaybeineffective,orthe systemmaynotwork as
desired at all, duetothe erroneous entry.
Therefore,one shouldbe carefulaboutthe lengthofparameters thathavebeen
indicated inthe program definitions. As can be seenindefinitionsections, lengthsof
someparameters maybevariable. If suchparameters will beentered inalength
thatis shorterthan the lengthindicatedasthe maximumnumberofdigits, then they
must be terminatedwiththe “*”key.Becauseofthat, the programming must be
donewithaDTMFphone.If the exchange haspreviouslybeen programmed,the
extension,whosephonethe programming hasbeen performed through,maynotbe
authorized tousethe key“*”. Inspiteofthis fact, the key“*”maybeusedwhile
entering the programs.
Internaldialtoneis receivedupon propercompletion ofthe programming;
otherwise,errortoneis received.Insuchacase,the relatedprogramcode should
be re-entered.
IMPORTANTNOTE: IP extensions cannot enter anyprogram listed below.
