Please make sure that the nib is adjusted centrally to the ink feeder. If the nib is not aligned with the ink feeder, the ink flow will
be interrupted and the ink won‘t reach the nib slot.

POSITIONING OF THE NIB
Please check if the nib and the ink feeder are firmly placed into
the nib bushing.
If the nib and the ink feeder are not placed tightly into the
nib bushing the ink flow can be disrupted. The ink will only
reach the ink feeder, but not the nib.
Nib and ink feeder must
be firmly inserted.

NIB BUSHING
Make sure there is no gap between the nib tines and that they are
not bent or damaged.
The nib tines can be pushed apart and bent when writing
with too much pressure. If that is the case, there is no ink
flowing to the nib and the pen will not write.
nib tines are
positioned
evenly and
closely spaced.
nib tines
uneven and/or
spread apart.
NIB TINES
Kaweco nibs are ready to write within 120 seconds. In some cases,
it may take a little longer. If necessary, apply some pressure to the
standard cartridge, in order to pump ink into the ink feeder,
but be gentle.
Do not disconnect the ink cartridge from the ink feeder.
Leave the cartridge attached so that the ink feeder is filled
with ink. Also, make sure that the ink cartridge is inserted
far enough.
Apply light
pressure.
The ink cartridge
must be pressed in
tightly.
It is possible that ink may
leak from the fins of the
ink feeder. Clean them
with a paper towel or
kitchen roll.
FILLING ACCELERATION OF
THE INK FEEDER
To test whether the pen is provided with enough ink through the ink
feeder, you can use an absorbent material, such as a tissue. To do so,
simply let the pen skim over the tissue with very little pressure. A
consistent line proves the functionality of the nib, however it is
recommended to test this on normal copy or writing paper as well.
If the nib produces a gap in the line you are drawing, this indicates an
irregular nib position, a wrongly assembled nib, or bent nib tines.
Even a defective nib and/or ink feeder cannot be ruled out. If this
problem occurs, please contact the Kaweco customer service.
WRITING TEST
Fill lukewarm water into the
mini converter. Please refrain
from using cleaning solutions/
detergents.
1Connect the mini converter to
the ink feeder.
2Pump lukewarm water through the nib
several times by using the converter. To
do so, slowly press the rippled end of the
converter downwards. Repeat this process
until clear water comes out of the nib
without any ink residue.
3Now you can dry the ink feeder and
the nib with a lint-free cloth or
something of the sort. However,
make sure that both parts are
completely dry before inserting a new
standard cartridge.

CLEANING WITH THE
MINI KONVERTER
Fill lukewarm water into the
standard converter. Please refrain
from using cleaning solutions/
detergents.
1Connect the standard converter
to the ink feeder.
2 3 Now you can dry the ink feeder
and the nib with a lint-free cloth
or something of the sort.
However, make sure that both
parts are completely dry before
inserting a new standard
cartridge.

If you haven’t used your pen over a longer period of time, it is very likely
that the ink will have dried inside the ink feeder as well as the nib. To
prevent this, we recommend cleaning your fountain pen regularly.
If cleaning normal sized writing instruments, a standard converter is
needed. If you have a sport size pen, a mini converter is required.
With regular cleaning, your fountain pen will be a friend for life.
Pump lukewarm water through the nib several
times by using the converter. To do so, slowly
screw the end of the converter downwards.
Repeat this process until clear water comes out
of the nib without any ink residue.
CLEANING WITH THE
STANDARD CONVERTER
To prevent contamination of the nib by skin tissue, perspiration or grease
residue, only touch the nib with gloves, a lint-free cloth or at the metal edges.
Do not touch the nib with your bare hands, as grease residue
or skin tissue can disturb the ink when flowing to the tip of
the nib.
