Settings
Enter Settings setup by pressing / Menu Select. Use to access the settings of the thermostat
functions. There are five functions under Setting that can be navigated using the Up and Down
buttons:
P 7
FEATURES / OPERATION
Display Installation setup
This menu will show the current HVAC system setting that was set up during installation. It
should display one of the following:
NHP-HE-C (Electric heat with air conditioning)
NHP-HG-C (Gas heat with air conditioning)
NHP-HE-NC (Electric heat without air conditioning)
NHP-HG-NC (Gas heat without air conditioning)
HP-O (Heat Pump with O reverse valve)
HP-B (Heat Pump with B reverse valve)
Set Temperature Unit in °F or °C
Use Up or Down to select °F or °C for all temperature displays. Press Menu Select to confirm
the selection.
Set Temperature Offset
The Kenmore Smart Thermostat has been factory calibrated so you usually do not need to set
any temperature offset. However, in some rare situations you find that the temperature is not
accurate enough, you can use this function to offset the displayed temperature from -7°F to
+7°F (-4°C to +4°C).
Set Auto Recovery
For multi-stage systems, the thermostat supports an auto recovery algorithm when there is any
set point change scheduled. If enabled, it will turn on the HVAC system earlier to avoid the
HVAC system needing to turn on a second or higher stage. This permits a gradual change of
temperature before the set time, rather than a sudden change at the set time. Under this menu,
you can select YES or NO to enable or disable auto recovery function.
Set Span and Dead Band of thermostat control
There are two key parameters for thermostat control: Span and Dead Band.
The Span defines the maximum possible range of the temperature variance from the set
temperature. For example, if you set the temperature to 70°F and set Span to 1°F, the
temperature will swing from 69° F to 71°F. The Span setting range is from 0.5°F to 2°F (0.25°C
to 1°C).
-
-
-
-
-
P 8
FEATURES / OPERATION
Dead Band is used for automatically changing the HVAC system modes from Heat to Cool or
Cool to Heat. If the room temperature keeps going in the opposite direction from the current
mode and exceeds the Dead Band temperature, the Kenmore Smart Thermostat will automati-
cally switch to the alternate mode. Example: The Dead Band is set to 5° F and the thermostat is
set to Cool mode at 70°F. If the room temperature drops down to 65°F, the system will switch
from Cool to Heat mode. The Kenmore Smart Thermostat can set the dead band from 2°F – 5°F
(2.5°C – 6°C).
Filter
Enter Filter setup by pressing Menu / Select.
You can set the number of hours before the thermostat will remind you to install a new filter.
There is a selection for 300, 500 and 700 hours. You can also reset the count to zero when you
change the filter.
Key Lock
To lock the keys and prevent them from being used, hold Up and Down together for 2 seconds.
A lock icon will appear. To unlock the keys for use, repeat the same process, the lock icon will
disappear.
Remove Thermostat from Customer Assurelink Account
Press the Reset button on the bottom of the thermostat with a paper clip. When all the icons are
visible on the screen, press Up & Down for 2 seconds. Use the Up and Down keys to select the
"Yes" or the "No". Now press Menu/Select. If you selected "No", the thermostat will return to the
Main Screen. If you selected "Yes", the "ReqDelete" screen will appear for 3 seconds, then the
Main Screen will return. The thermostat has been removed from the customer's online Assurelink
account.
CLEANING / MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
When the low battery icon is ON, replace the batteries immediately. Don’t leave any used up
battery in the thermostat. The chemical leakage of drained batteries may damage the thermo-
stat and cause it to malfunction.
