Commissioning
Requirements
The printer can be used as a network printer via Ethernet (10, 100 Mbit/s) and TCP/IP or connected
via USB. You must meet the following requirements in order to commission the printer:
■If you use the printer as a network printer or connect it locally via USB, Neutrino BMS software
version 9.13 or higher must be installed on the BMS computer.
■The printer must be connected to the power supply using the supplied power cable, and the
Ethernet connection must be established.
NOTE
Further information on the printer, such as the operating environment, the printing resolution and the
toner to use, can be found in the product description.
Setting up the printer as a network printer
To configure the printer as a network printer, you must perform the following preliminary steps.
Configuration of the IP Address
The printer supports the TCP/IP network protocol which is used, among other things, for the
automatic assignment of IP addresses.
After you switch on the printer for the first time, no additional settings are required.
Automatic configuration
If a DHCP server is already available, an IP address is assigned to the printer automatically. To start
the automatic configuration, proceed as follows:
►To assign the printer a valid IP address, connect the printer to the network.
If a network connection exists, an IP address is automatically assigned after approx. 2
minutes.
►To ensure that the printer prints a page with the current network configuration, press the
[Resume] and [Wireless] buttons at the same time.
You can find the IP address of the printer on this printout.
If a DHCP server is not available, it must be possible to access the printer from a Windows computer.
To start the configuration, proceed as follows:
►Install the printer driver from the CD provided on the Windows computer.
►Configure the printer using the driver software.
The IP address of the printer is available on the network.
►To ensure that the printer prints a page with the current network configuration, press the
[Resume] and [Wireless] buttons at the same time.
You can find the IP address of the printer on this printout.

Manual configuration
In addition to the automatic IP address configuration, you can also assign the printer IP address
manually. To do so, you must know the printer IP address.
Since the printer does not have a preset IP address and only the internal IP address “0.0.0.0” is set
when it is in its initial state, an IP address must be assigned via DHCP beforehand and read from the
printout of the network configuration page.
You can use the integrated Web server on the printer to configure its IP address manually. Proceed
as follows:
►To access the integrated Web server on the printer, enter the printer IP address in the address
bar of your browser.
Select the following settings:
►Select the “Network” tab.
►In the “Wired (802.3)” section, select the “IPv4” menu item.
►Select “Manual IP Address.”
►Enter the IP address, subnet mask and default gateway in the relevant fields.
►Click [Accept].
The current connection to the Web server is lost.
►Check the change by entering the new IP address in the address bar of your browser.
The browser configuration page is displayed.
►If the printer cannot be accessed from the browser, press both the [Cancel] and [Wireless] buttons
on the printer simultaneously for at least three seconds.
The printer network configuration is then reset to its initial state.
►Repeat the manual configuration of the network.
Retrieving Configuration Data
Printer operator panel
You have to add the printer’s IP address to the BMS configuration. The IP address is also required
to add the printer to the network.
You can retrieve the IP address using the printer’s operator panel.
►Press the [Resume] and [Wireless] buttons on the printer simultaneously.
or
►Print the [Cancel] button on the printer for 3 seconds.

Configuring the printer on the Neutrino BMS
requirement: Neutrino BMS software version 9.13 or later
You must apply the following settings in the BMS menu "Tools" > "BMS configuration":
►Open the BMS function group and select “Printer” in the tree.
The “BMS configuration” window appears.
►In the “Edit” menu, select “New.”
The “Printer configuration” window appears.
Make the following settings in the “Printer configuration” window.
►Enter the “Name” and “Location” of the printer.
You are free to enter whatever you want. Once installed on the BMS, the printer can be more
easily identified using these specifications.
►Select the manufacturer “HP” from the list provided.
►Select the printer type:
►Under “Type,” select the “OfficeJet Pro K5400 Foomatic/hpijs” printer driver for Neutrino BMS
version 9.13.
►For Neutrino BMS version 9.26 or higher, two types with the same name, “PostScript Printer
Foomatic/Postscript,” are displayed. Select either one.
►Select “TCP/IP Raw” as the operating mode and the port number "9100".
►Enter the IP address of the printer (e.g. 192.168.100.192) in the “Server Name” field.
►Have your network administrator verify the other entries beforehand.
►Select the following default settings:
- Paper size: A4
- Paper source: Standard
- Portrait
- Color mode: Color
- Color mixture: QNX dithering
- Resolution: 1200 x 1200 (maximum printer resolution)
- Margins: 1.27 cm (For smaller margins, and for the left and right-hand margin in particular, the
printer may eject a second empty page)
►Confirm your entries with [OK].
The configuration is then saved.
►You must restart the system on the BMS to apply the configuration.
You can use the printer as soon as you have restarted the BMS.

Setting Up the Printer for Consecutive Log File Printing
With the BMS program MALFUNCTION MESSAGE DISPLAY, malfunctions occurring in building
services are displayed as malfunction and system error messages. You can print the event logs out
if the printer is configured for consecutive log file printing.
To configure the printer for consecutive log file printing, rather than making the settings outlined in
the previous two sections, make the following settings in the “BMS configuration” window:
►In “BMS configuration,” select “Settings.”
►Select “Malfunction messages” and set the “Type of malfunction message print out” to
“Postscript” and “Collected” or “Individual” in the “Print” tab.
If “Postscript” and “Collected” are activated, the malfunction messages are only output once
a page is full of malfunction messages. You can enable the “Display outgoing malfunctions
with message text” option.
If “Postscript” and “Individual” are activated, one malfunction message is output per page.
The “Display outgoing malfunctions with message text” option is suppressed.
►Save the configuration with [OK].
►In order to activate consecutive log file printing, check the “Consecutive log file print, direct
printout” check box in “Printer configuration” and click [OK] to confirm.
Consecutive log file printing is activated.
You can adjust the print image using the printer-specific settings. The printer driver works on the
assumption that the pages do not have margins. You must therefore set the print image for the
specific printer under “Printer configuration” > “Settings” > “Print settings”
►First of all, print a test page.
►Then set the margins.
►Click [Default] to reset the page margins to the default settings.
