INSTALLATION
FCC Information:
The antenna must me located at least 3’ away from passengers in order to comply with FCC RF exposure requirements.
The antenna should be mounted as high as possible for best performance. Keep the antenna
away from large metal objects and other radiating devices like RADAR and other antennas.
The A-860 VHF Antenna is supplied with 20 feet of RG-58 C/U Milspec double-shielded
cable for maximum radiation and interference rejection. KJM does not recommend shortening
the 20’ cable; instead simply coil and tie-wrap the excess cable in a secure location. The
cable may be extended using a PL-258 barrel connector between the antenna PL-259 and
the additional coax cable PL-259. KJM recommends using RG-8X or RX213/U to extend the
length.

PL-259 Connector Installation
1. Cut the end of the coax cable to the dimensions shown Figure 1.
DO NOT CUT THE CABLE SHORTER THAN 5 FEET!
2. Remove the Threaded collar from the PL-259 connector and slide onto the cable.
3. Referring to Figure 2, pull the braid down on top of the white insulation on the cable.
4. Insert the cable into the connector (using a twisting motion) onto the cable until the center conductor appears
through the center pin of the connector.
5. Solder the cables center conductor to the center pin of the PL-259 Connector.
6. Screw the threaded collar onto the connector.
Note: After installation it is recommended to have a qualified technician check the VSWR to ensure proper
connections have been made.

for consequential damages, installation costs or other costs of any nature incurred as a result
of the use of the products manufactured by KJM, whether used in accordance with instructions
or not. All shipping costs on returned material are the responsibility of the purchaser. KJM is
not liable for repair or replacement of any product damaged by lightening, other natural
phenomenons or incorrect installation including reverse polarity connections. This warranty is in
