CO2 Sensor Calibration
TheBAC-13xxxxmodels(withT6613modelsensors)
donothaveacalibrationwithgasoption.Ituses
AutomaticBackgroundLogic,orABCLogic™,apat-
entedself-calibrationtechniquedesignedtobeused
in applications where concentrations will drop to
outside ambient conditions (approximately 400
ppm) at least three times in a 14 day period,typi-
callyduringunoccupiedperiods.WithABCLogic
enabled,thesensorwilltypicallyreachitsoperation-
alaccuracyaer25hoursofcontinuousoperation
ifitwasexposedtoambientreferencelevelsofair
at400±10ppmCO2.Thesensorwillmaintainac-
curacyspecicationswithABCLogicenabled,given
thatitisatleastfourtimesin21daysexposedtothe
referencevalueandthisreferencevalueisthelowest
concentrationtowhichthesensorisexposed.ABC
Logicrequirescontinuousoperationofthesensorfor
periodsofatleast24hours.
TheBAC-14xxxxmodels(withT6615modelsen-
sors)haveacalibration option for applying gas
to the sensorformaintainingmaximumaccuracy.
TheBAC-14xxxxhasadualchannelsensor(aCO2
channelmeasuresgasconcentration,andareference
channelmeasuresthesensorsignalintensity).Self-
calibrationsareperformedapproximatelyevery24
hoursusingthereferencechannel.Duringtheself-
calibrationthesensorPPMreadingisfrozenandwill
notreacttochangingCO2.
Iftheunithasbeeneld-calibratedsinceleavingthe
factory,informationaboutthelastcalibration(date,
elevation,andppmofreferencegas)willbedis-
playedinthelowerpartofthescreen.
TocalibratetheBAC-14xxxxmodels:
1. FollowtheinstructionsintheGE Telaire 2075 (or
equivalent)calibration kitandgas,availablelo-
callyorfromvendorssuchasinstrumart.com,tes-
tequipmentdepot.com,grainger.com,calibration-
gas.com,and/orbuycalgas.com)foraachinga
regulatorandtubetoacylinderofreferencegas.
2. OntheFlexStat,turnthehexscrewsinthebot-
tomandtopclockwiseuntiltheyclearthecover.
3. Carefullypullthecoverawayfromthebackplate
(mountingbase).
4. Aachtheadapter plate (with aached power
cable) for the CO2 FlexStatfromtheHTO-1103
FlexStat Firmware Flash Upgrade Kittotheback
ofthecover.
5. Removetheprotectiverubbercapfromthepower
adaptorcable’stwopinsandinsertthepinsinto
the24VACpowersection(Comand~onlower
right)ofthewall-mountedterminalblocks.(Keep
thecaponthepinswhennotinuse.)
6. Removetheprotectivecapsfrombothofthecali-
brationtubesonthebackoftheFlexStatboard.
NOTE: Althoughthecapsarenotrequiredfor
maintainingtheaccuracyofthesensor,
theyprotectagainstinsects,dust,orother
contaminantsfromgeinginsidethetubes.
Ifacapislost,thesensorwillstillfunction
normally,butthecapshouldstillbe
replacedassoonaspossible.
7. Connectthetubefromthereferencegastoeither
ofthecalibrationtubes.
8. SelecttheAdvanced>CO2Sensor>Calibration
menu.
9. Entertheelevationandppmofthereferencegas
used.
10. Openthecylinder’sregulatortoallowgas
throughthesensor.
11. ChangeModefromMonitortoCalibrateand
pushEnter.TheCalibrationTimewillbegin
countingattheboomofthescreen.
NOTE: Aerinitiating,thecalibrationprocess
takesapproximately4minutesandcannot
bestoppedbyanybuonpressesuntil
thecycleiscomplete.Ifpowerisremoved
beforethecalibrationprocessiscompleted,
theoldvalueswillberetained.
NOTE: Nomaerwhatthenormalinactivitytime-
outseingis,time-outforthecalibration
screenis10minutes.SeeSystem Setup on
page 23.
12. Aerthecalibrationprocessiscomplete,Mode
willchangefromCalibratetoMonitor.Pressthe
Lebuonandinformationaboutthemostrecent
calibration(date,elevation,andppmofreference
gas)willbedisplayedinthelowerpartofthe
screen.
13. Turnothegas,removetheconnectedtubing,
andreinserttheprotectivecapsinthecalibration
tubes.
14. Carefullyremovetheadapterplateandpower
cableandreinstalltheFlexStatonitsbackplate
while being careful not to pinch or dislodge any
wiring.
15. Backthehexscrews(counterclockwise)outofthe
bracketsuntiltheyengagetheFlexStatcoverand
holditinplace.
