These instructions should be read carefully and retained after installation by the end user for
future reference and maintenance.
These instructions should be used to aid installation of the following product:

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
SAFETY
INSTALLATION
• This product must be installed in accordance with the latest edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations
(BS7671) and current building regulations. If in any doubt, please consult a qualified electrician.
• Please isolate mains prior to installation or maintenance
• Check the total load on the circuit (including when this luminaire is fitted) does not exceed the
rating of the circuit cable, fuse or circuit breaker
• Please note the IP (Ingress Protection) rating of this luminaire when deciding the location for
installation
• This product is Class I and must be earthed
• This product is IP65 rated
• Drill the fixing holes in the rear of the fitting. Mark the location of the fixing holes, and drill
ensuring not to infringe with any gas / water pipes or electrical cables
• Choose a suitable cable entry. 20mm drilling guides are provided on the rear or side of the unit.
Ensure a suitable gland is used to retain the IP rating. Fix the luminaire to the surface using
appropriate fixings
• Connect the luminaire to the mains supply (via the terminal connector) ensuring the correct
polarity is observed (see Fig 2). Live (brown), Neutral (blue) and Earth (green and yellow)
• Provide power to the required point of installation. Suitable IP rated junction boxes should be
used where required
• Unscrew the four fastening screws and remove the front cover (see Fig. 1)

INSTALLATION
•Provide power to the required point of installation. Suitable IP rated junction boxes should be used
where required
•Unscrew the four fastening screws and remove the front cover (see Fig. 1)

•Drill the fixing holes in the rear of the fitting. Mark the location of the fixing holes, and drill ensuring
not to infringe with any gas / water pipes or electrical cables
•Choose a suitable cable entry. 20mm drilling guides are provided on the rear or side of the unit.
Ensure to use a suitable cable gland to retain the IP rating. Fix the luminaire to the surface using
appropriate fixings
•Connect the luminaire to the mains supply (via the terminal connector) ensuring the correct polarity
is observed (see Fig 2). Live (brown), Neutral (blue) and Earth (green and yellow)
•Connect the battery to the battery connector on the PCB (see Fig. 2)

This product must be disconnected from the circuit if subjected to any high voltage or insulation
resistance testing. Irreparable damage will occur if this instruction is not followed
This product should be recycled in the correct manner when it reaches the end of its life. Check
local authorities for where facilities exist
If the batteries have been left in a discharged state for a long period of time, we recommend that
one or more charge and discharge cycles are performed, to restore the battery to its full capacity
The batteries in this luminaire are Nickel Cadmium and must be disposed of correctly. Please
contact local authorities for the disposal of this toxic waste
Clean with a soft dry cloth only, do not use aggressive cleaning products or solvents which may
damage the product.
This product is non-dimmable
The indicator lamp marked “CHARGE” will be lit when the battery is charging. If it is not lit, check
that the battery is connected to the PCB, and that there is a 230V mains supply. The indicator lamp
marked “LAMPS” will be lit if the lamp circuit is complete and the lamps are healthy. (NB the
indicator lamps will not work when the fitting is in emergency mode, only while it is connected to
the mains supply)

•Refasten the cover
•Switch on and check for correct operation ensuring the green indicator LEDs are illuminated
•We recommend, on commissioning the installation, a minimum charge period of 24 hours before
carrying out an emergency duration test

This product has a warranty of 3 years (excluding battery) from date of purchase. Failure to install this product in
accordance with the current edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations, improper use, or removal of the batch codes

WARRANTY
This product has a warranty of 3 years from date of purchase. The battery has a 1 year warranty
but this can be extended to 3 years upon presentation of a correctly completed emergency test
record sheet. The battery should be replaced after 4 years from date of installation. Failure to
install this product in accordance with the current edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations, improper
use, or removal of the batch codes will invalidate the warranty. If this product should fail within its
warranty period it should be returned to the place of purchase for a free of charge replacement.

TESTING FOR EMERGENCY LUMINAIRES
Recommended routine test procedure in accordance with BS5266
• Daily check – check LED charge indicator is illuminated
• Monthly functional test – simulate a mains supply failure for approx. 30 seconds by operation
of key switch or switching off circuit breaker. Ensure normal supply is restored after test and
ensure charge indicator is illuminated
• Annual three hour duration test - simulate a mains supply failure for a three hour continuous
test by operation of key switch or switching off circuit breaker. Ensure normal supply is restored
after test and ensure charge indicator is illuminated
• If the luminaire fails any of the above tests, please contact a qualified electrician
