MR100
Stereo Pre-Amp
Installation and Operating Instructions v1.0
Description
The MR100 is a deluxe, easy to use two piece stereo preamp
with all the features needed for home, commercial and
industrial installations. The MR100 features control of bass,
treble and balance, with the digital keypad controlling volume,
mute/unmute and the connected amplifier power on/off via the
12 VDC trigger. The keypad has six led volume level indicators.
Once installed the MR100 can be hidden and the VC201 digital
keypad controls the system. To turn the connected amplifier on,
the user pushes the digital keypad up or down paddle and the
system turns on to a preset volume. To adjust the volume push
the up or down paddles. To mute push the center of the
paddles. To unmute press either the up or down volume paddle.
To turn the whole system off press the down paddle until the
lowest led blinks and the system is off. It’s that easy...
When using Knoll multichannel amplifiers with the MR100, the
relative volumes in each area or room can be individually set on
the connected amplifier and the MR100 adjusts the "overall"
volume.
Full 20-20 kHz response.
Gold RCA inputs and
outputs.
Full remote digital
keypad includes volume
up/down, mute on/off,
connected amplifier
power on/off and led
volume status.
Adjustable bass treble and balance.
Easy installation
Keypads available in white, almond, ivory and black colors
Can turn amplifier on and off with 12 VDC trigger
Works with mono, stereo and multichannel amplifiers.
Connection
Connect your stereo source to the MR100 RCA jacks labelled “Input”with a
short as possible great quality RCA cord. Connect your mono, stereo or
Multiroom amplifier to the MR100 RCA jacks labelled “Output”with a short as
possible great quality RCA cord. If required coneect the MR100 to the power
amplifier 12 volt trigger in using a mono 3.5mm cord (again short as possible).
Run a Cat5e wire from the MR100 location to where the VC201 digital keypad
will be located leaving 1m (3’) extra wire on each end. Position and mount the
VC201 digital keypad in a comfortable as possible location. Connect the Cat5e
wire to the VC201 and the MR100 using the correct RJ45 connectors and a
really great quality crimper.
Use a really good quality RJ45 crimp tool, as this is the
number 1 source of current and future problems in this
type of installation.
Connect the 12 VDC power adaptor and power up the MR100. If the trigger
power on/off is used, do not connect the MR100 into the power amplifier
switched outlet. Observe the VC201 keypad as it is powered up and the six led
volume level indicators should cycle and turn off.
Testing
1. Turn on the stereo source (cable box, satellite box, CD player, MP3
player, iPod, etc.) and get the sound playing.
2. Power up the MR100 and observe the VC201 led power up cycle. The
MR100 will not work with the VC201 connected.
3. Turn the amplifier power on and adjust the amplifier gain up as
needed.
4. Adjust the VC201 keypad volume as needed.
5. Adjust the MR100 bass, treble and balance as needed while listening to
music.
6. If using a multichannel amplifier adjust the individual gains in the
different zones or rooms as needed. The VC201 keypad sets the
overall volume.
Operation
The MR100 is normally left on, unless it is unused for more than a week as it
uses very little power when switched off. If the trigger is installed the amplifier
does not need to turned on/off.
The VC201 keypad turns on the system by touching the up or down
paddle. Adjust the volume as needed up or down.
To mute press the center of the up and down paddles.
To unmute touch the up or down paddle.
To power off, press the down paddle until the bottom led indicator
blinks and goes out.
