5.1 Control devices
The machine equipped with the following devices
Fig. 6
1. Start push button. This push button is intended to power the machine.
When it is on, a pilot light warns that the machine is energized.
2. Speed commutator. The speed commutator is intended to select the
cutting blade rotation speed.
“0” Position The cutting blade does not rotate (even if the 4) push button on the
control handgrip is pressed.
“1” Position This is the lowest speed position (44 rpm). It is a suitable speed to cut
hard metal and full section bars.
“2” Position This is the highest speed position (88 rpm). Such speed is suitable to
cut profiles and low thickness tubes.
The speed commutator can be padlocked. Padlock it when the switch is
set to “0”, before carrying out any maintenance or repairing operations.
3. Handgrip with control push button (4). The control handgrip (the
operator must be present) is intended to lift or lower the head,
performing this way the cutting operation. This handgrip consists of a
tube, screwed into the machine head: on the tube end there is the
control handgrip with its push button. By pressing the (4) push button
the cutting blade rotation starts, while by realizing it, the rotation stops.
Furthermore, the handgrip is equipped with a protection device against
accidental starting.

5.2 Normal cutting / working
After carrying out what has been previously described for the machine setting at
work, operate as follows:
- Place the material to be cut into vice and firmly clamp it.
- Press the start button (1 fig. 6). The pilot light warns that the machine is
energized.
- Select the required cutting speed on the commutator (2 fig. 6).
- The cutting off machine is now ready to cut. Grasp the control handgrip
(3 fig. 6) and, by pressing the push button (4 fig. 6), the cutting blade will start
to rotate.
Delicately lay the blade on the piece to be cut, in order to avoid the blade teeth
breaking, and carry out the cutting operation.
In quiescent position (head up), the protection guard entirely covers the cutting blade.
During the cutting operation the guard automatically opens, in protection to the head
descent; only the part which is strictly necessary for the machining is left uncovered.
Make sure the cooling emulsion comes out in a sufficient quantity during the cutting
operation. The cutting blade must be generously lubricated.
When the cut has been performed pull the head to its quiescent position and release
the control handgrip. The blade stops.
The machine is equipped with a 24 V tow tension electric system, provided with
minimum voltage device. Owing to this device, in case of blackout with a consequent
machine stopping, when the current is reset the cutting off machine does not start. To
go further with the working it is necessary to press the Start push button again
(1 Fig. 6). This way any risks of accidental restarting are eliminated.
During the normal running, should the cutting off machine stop, even if the switch has
not been set to "0", operate extremely carefully and try to find out the reason which
has caused the machine stop.
All the cutting preparing operations must be carried out when the machine is in
quiescent position and the cutting is not rotating.

5.3 Cutting of machine stop
To stop the blade rotation during the machining just releases the control handgrip
(3 fig. 6). The machine can be stopped by selecting the “0” position on the speed
commutator (2 fig. 6) too.
5.4 Miter cut
It is possible to carry out miter cuts (max. 45° both rightward and leftwards). Ease off
the vice clamping lever (14 fig. 1), placed on the cutting off machine base, rotate the
head according to the required angle and subsequently fix the above mentioned
clamping lever.
This operation is to be carried out when the machine is switched of and not
energized.
The clamping lever must be firmly fixed to avoid head moving during the cutting
operations.
5.5 Vice unit
The vice is provided with quick clamping, whose shifting is of approx. 4 mm.
Therefore, by means of the especially intended handwheel (11 fig. 1) position the
vice jaws up to a distance of 2 mm; clamp now the piece to be cut by means of the
quick clamping lever (13 fig. 1)
Before carrying out the cutting make sure the piece has been firmly clamped into the
vice, to avoid its moving while the operation is being performed.
Shifting forward the vice units is needed to perform the max. allowed cutting. To shift
it just release the clamping lever (14 fig. 1), shift the unit forward and subsequently
reclamp the above lever.
Do not position other pieces to be cut upon the vice unit if the vice unit if the vice is
already clamping one.
