1 GENERALS
1.1 Applicable standards and directives

2 PRODUCT OVERVIEW
2.1 Use according to specifications
The BA120L hot water boiler is intended to operate connected to a plant that prepares water instantly, the boiler having the
role of storing the water prepared by the plant.
The boiler is controlled by a temperature control system.
The boiler has a safety system for protection against overpressure and overtemperature.
It also has an adjustable thermostat that ensures its automatic shutdown when the set temperature is reached.
The body of the boiler is made of stainless steel, an ideal material for protection against shocks and corrosion, but also for
the quality of the stored water.
The magnesium anode is an additional protection for water quality and ensures the product a long life, as long as it is
replaced annually.
Careful!
During the warranty period, it is mandatory to perform annual maintenance and replacement of the magnesium
anode. The annual maintenance and replacement of the magnesium anode is done at the expense of the end
user.
Failure to perform annual maintenance and replacement of the magnesium anode will result in the loss of the commercial
warranty.
Failure to submit the protocols of the intervention for the annual replacements of the magnesium anode entails the loss of the
commercial warranty.
The setting of the water temperature in the boiler from its control knob (adjustable thermostat) will be done at most at the
temperature at which the temperature was set at the plant which ensures the heating of the water in instant mode.
The boiler is designed to operate only in VERTICAL position.

2.3 Mixing valve specification
Description:
This valve is specially designed for this application. The thermostat mixing valve ensures a high thermal performance and is
able to precisely control the temperature of the supplied water mixture in case of pressure, temperature or flow variations.
Anti-stop function:
As a safety device, in the event of a sudden failure of the cold water supply at the inlet, the valve immediately shuts off the
hot water flow. This prevents dangerous burns.
This performance is also guaranteed if there is a temperature difference of at least 10 ° C between hot water and mixed
outlet water. Also, in case of failure of the boiler hot water supply, the valve closes the mixed outlet to prevent dangerous
thermal shocks (performance according to the specifications of the UK, NHS D08 and BS 7942: 2000).
The mixing valve is certified according to EN1111 and EN1287 standards.

Legionella bacteria and scalding risk
In installations that produce domestic hot water with storage, in order to prevent the dangerous infection known as
Legionella disease, the hot water must be stored at a temperature of at least 60 ° C. At this temperature it is certain that the
growth of bacteria that cause this infection will be completely prevented, but still cannot be used directly by the consumer.
Temperatures above 48 ° C cause very fast burns.
The mixing valve protects the user against burning of exposed skin, limiting the temperature of drinking water to
about 48°C.

For example, at 55°C the partial burn will take place in approx. 30 seconds, while at 60 ° C the partial burn occurs in approx.
5 seconds. For children and the elderly these values are reduced by half.

For the reasons set out above, it is necessary to use a thermostatic mixing valve that:
- reduces the temperature at the point of use to a lower value than the storage one in the boiler and is suitable for home
use;
- maintains a constant temperature even if there are variations in pressure and temperature;
- offers an anti-stop function in case of failure of the cold water supply at the inlet
Thermal disinfection
The diagram below shows the behavior of Legionella Pneumophila bacteria
depending on the temperature of the storage water.
In order to ensure a correct thermal disinfection, the value of the storage water must be at
least 60°C.
Hydraulic feature
Due to the flow characteristic, the Caleffi 5213 mixing valve can
be used by the consumer at a limited number of consumption
decks. For this reason, the flow passing through the mixing valve
is generally the same as that of the point of consumption, for
example: sink, shower, etc.
In order to ensure optimum performance, a flow rate of at least 4
l / min at the mixing valve must be guaranteed.
The installation must always be dimensioned in accordance with
the legislation in force in relation to the nominal flow for each
consumption point.
Adjusting and blocking the temperature in the mixing valve
The temperature is set to the desired value using the upper hex screw, located under the protective cover.
For increased comfort, it is recommended to adjust the maximum temperature of the hot water, in order to prevent the use
function in table no. 3.

After setting the temperature to the desired value, it is locked with the locking nut.

5 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair will be performed by personnel with competences in this
field. Before performing any work on this equipment, it must be disconnected from the power supply.
5.1 Transport to the installation site
Transport the fully packed boiler to its location. Thus, it is optimally protected during transport.
For transport, use appropriate auxiliary means. When transporting, secure the boiler against overturning.
5.2 Boiler location
Careful!
The boiler will be installed indoors, protected from frost.
The recommended distances from the walls must be kept in order to be able to mount / dismount the anode
and the components - figures 3,4.
The floor must be flat and have the necessary support capacity.
The boiler must be placed as close as possible to the heating equipment.
For thermal performance, all connections (connections) must be thermally insulated so that heat loss is
minimal.
Caution!
Do not spread your support legs more than 80 mm.
The floor where the placement is made must be flat and have the necessary bearubg capacity.
5.2.1 Preparing the connection
The connection of the boiler to the water installation and to the electricity supply network is made by
the authorized personnel for the assembly / installation activity from the list of partners of KOBERL SRL
Vaduri Branch.
Observe the following instructions for connecting the boiler to the drinking water network.
These indications are important to ensure the safe operation and to maintain the product warranty.
The pressure in the running water installation should be a minimum of 1 bar and a maximum of 5 bar.
It is mandatory to install the water softener filter and the Y dirt filter on the cold water inlet connection.
It is recommended to connect the appliance as close as possible to the main hot water consumer, in order to
avoid heat loss along the pipes.

Caution!
In order to grant and keep the warranty, the hydraulic installation for cold water supply, to which the
boiler is connected, must contain:
- water softener filter and impurity filter;
- water supply isolation valve;
- one-way valve;
- pressure reducer.
For more details see "Hydraulic scheme", indicated in chapter 10.
Pressure reducer
If the cold water pressure level fluctuates or is greater than or equal to 0.5 MPa (5 bar), it is
recommended to install a pressure regulator, at the entrance of the sanitary circus in the boiler or at
the main entry of the domestic water pipe. The pressure at the outlet of the pressure regulator must
be set to a maximum of 5 bar.
One way valve
The non-return valve is not incorporated in the hydraulic safety unit. Mounting it on the cold water
supply system of the boiler will not allow the hot water to enter the cold water supply system.
5.2.2 Connecting the boiler to the hydraulic circuit
Careful! If the hardness of the water exceeds the value of 20 ° TH (where 1 ° TH = French degree = 10
mg CaCo3 / l) it is mandatory to install a softener in order to reduce lime scale deposits inside the
boiler and to keep the electrical elements efficient.
Boiler connection:
The boiler is connected to the domestic water installation through the connections:
R1 - cold water inlet to the plant;
R2 - cold water inlet to the boiler;
R3 - hot water outlet from the boiler;
R4 - hot water outlet from plant.
See the layout of the connections Figure 2 on page 8.
On the connection R1 - cold water inlet to the plant, it is mandatory to install the water softening filter
and the Y impurity filter with a sieve porosity of 400µm.

5.2.3 Boiler filling
To fill the boiler, proceed as follows:
- open the valve located on the hydraulic unit to allow the appliance to be supplied with water.
- open the general water supply;
- open a hot water tap (sink or bathtub) to allow air to escape from the boiler (valid for the first filling). Operate
at the same time the vent located in the upper part of the boiler;
- the boiler is full when the water starts to flow through the vent. At this point, turn off the consumer tap and the
vent;
- check for any water leaks along all routes and hydraulic connections.
5.2.4 Emptying the water boiler
If you want to completely empty the boiler, proceed as follows:
- disconnect the boiler from the mains;
- close the cold water supply valve of the boiler;
- open the boiler drain valve;
- we recommend connecting a hose to drain the water to the sewer;
- open the boiler vent for a faster emptying.
